Holy shit, 43:00 minutes in really hit home for me...thank you so much, you've really changed my life for the better in many ways. This coming from a kid that was really bullied throughout all of high school. Considered and attempted suicide on many occasions, has severe anxiety, no friends and was 210 pounds one year and two months ago. I am now 155 pounds, very lean, been doing muay Thai and boxing for a year and two months now, appreciate and love my parents more than ever and applying into the Marine Corps in March, hopefully, they will take me. Still no friends, still heavy anxiety, but I feel these things are for the better and have helped me come along. I do not need distractions, this is what I've wanted to do since I was young. People have pushed me down and shit on me my entire life, but thankfully for people like you and my parents I've made it through those rough times and feel I am prepared to make it through these rough times to come. I am now 20 and hopefully, once I've made it into the Marine Corps I will see if I can make it into Force Recon, which is something I've always admired and wanted to do. I know just saying this or typing it means nothing, but this is where I make my mark. Hopefully, by this time next year, I will be a Marine and on my way to MARSOC or Force Recon. Thank you so so much for this podcast it's helped me through the good and the bad times. Now it's time to wipe these bullshit tears out of my eyes and get after it. God bless you and all the men who have served before you. Hopefully this comment doesn't get to many upvotes, as it's quite embarrassing to write out my life story on an internet page, but for those who see this and have been in the same situation as myself or are being bullied, all I can tell you is stay strong it will get better and those things will pass you up. Those same people that bullied me are currently unemployed, drinking every day and I can only guess they have no life goals like myself. I walked into my Muay Thai gym extremely out of shape and 210 pounds or over. It took me 6 months to lose 50 pounds and now I rate myself as one of the top 5 people in the gym and sparring, I am top 3 around my weight. I am not here to brag, but to encourage anyone that is or has been in the same situation as me. Do not wait until you're 18 and away from those people like I did. Get after it now and if you're as determined as me, those bullies will be nothing to you in the near future. God bless and once again thank you for everything you've done, if you were able to see this stupid and long comment. Thanks

I think a point I'd like to add is that everyone figures out the value of discipline sooner or later because you either experience the effects of being undisciplined or being disciplined. I personally learned the value of being disciplined by suffering the effects of being undisciplined. I was disgusted with my lifestyle and where my life was headed and realized a big change was needed

The word that was alluded to but never said in this Q&A was 'humility.' Checking your ego, asking for help, not implying that you're a good leader to others are all examples of HUMILITY. A good leader is first and foremost humble. This podcast is exceptional as always.

I woke up early and just cleaned my house (after finishing my weekly errands). I tuned into Jocko for his interviews and book reports...and got into Dr Peterson for his politics and his Jungian psychology. They've both HONESTLY contributed in me improving myself in areas that I didnt even know needed improvement. Jocko and Jordan need to have a weekly show together or something. I think that's exactly what the world needs. *rainbow emoji*

I think David Goggins would be an awesome man to interview, about discipline. In this podcast, the question was brought up about the lack of discipline in the person's background. David's background is as humble as humble can be, and to see what all he has accomplished, just to spite everyone who said it couldn't be done. I've started taking control of my health, and have an interest in triathlon-ing, so in my research and podcasts, I came across an interview with him, by Tom Bilyeu. I think that a conversation between Jocko and David would be mind blowing. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rHmoq7mgZNLJZqg.html

I think Jocko in the past kind of mentioned that he despised the people that brag and talk so much about buds. Jocko thinks that it’s the bare minimum and being a seal is so much more than that. David Goggins thing has always been about how he passed buds and how much it sucked.

Onuma I don't. I just want to tell his wife about brining the chicken (About 1 hr every pound.) Then season it (I like dry rubbing. But if I have to leave it over night after I brined the chicken I use balsamic vinegar and Italian dressing.) I've never had dry chicken after brining the chicken first (usually for an hour) because science. I've also never really had overly salty chicken or dry chicken after doing this. Of course when I bake it or cook it on the stove I use unsalted butter.

Been feeling the same about doing BJJ the last few weeks since I started. It kinda sucks cos it takes my entire evening due to travelling so it feels like it takes loads of time for something I don't enjoy. Objectively I wish could go more but I hate spending so much time on something I don't like. I also don't enjoy working out, I don't get that "good feeling" afterwards that people talk about. I'd rather sit and read a computer science research paper... Also I wonder if Jocko likes Morbid Angel...
