    The one thing I've learned to count on painting is no matter how much planning you do, and procedures you put in place you gotta be flexable as most every job throws a curve ball effectively changing your approach. Great video! We know you really care Chris. 😉

    I feel like I’ve been painting for years after watching your videos. I’m currently remodeling my house and I’ve got about 2500 sf to paint. Following your examples everything is masked and all my doors are set up in the middle of the rooms with door hinge brackets holding them in place. Everything has been sanded and I have two wood paneled rooms as well. Plan it to spray the wood paneling, then doors, then trim with Zinsser BIN then go back over with latex semigloss. Roll the ceilings then the walls. It’s taken me a week to do all of this masking myself. I sanded and painted my kitchen cabinets with an airless sprayer and the finish is awesome. I’m hoping to achieve the same finish on the rest of the project, but it’s through your videos that I’ve become a better painter. Thanks Chris!

    Curious if you think it was worth using spray gun knowing all the time it went into prepping your home oppose to using the traditional way paint brush and rollers? Airless sprayer-Longer Prep Time, less paint time, costly equipment. VS Traditional-less prep work, Longer Paint Time, less money spent on supplies.

    Hi Chris. Just want to say a big thanks for your videos. I wanted to have a go at spray painting a house interior years ago and found your videos fantastic and gave me the confidence to buy a spray gun to have a go. I did this thinking it would be a one off and would never use it again, however I have used it to paint the interior and exterior of 3 houses since then. Just wanted to say a huge thank you.

    "If you didn't like it we don't care" love it. My scenario I would like your advice on is , white wood work, white ceilings and white walls. Sounds simple but I'm in the uk and our paints are not the same as US or even Europe. So paint for trim is not simple to find for a sprayer. Help with paint choice is the main area I need help with, as well as order. The UK is still fixated on oil based paint

    Let’s not forget the jobs where you go into a home to prep and you find heavy furniture that is full of the customers personal belongings. They want you to handle everything which I don’t like to do. I feel that it’s the customers responsibility to secure valuable items and remove framed pictures off the walls and book cases too. If I have to do it I’ll charge for the extra time.

    If im doing ceiling, walls and trim, I almost always spray the ceiling first. As long as i got my floors covered (if needed) then im not worried much about some over spray since everything else below it is going to be getting fresh paint, and since ceiling paint is almost always pure white, it covers easily. but then I spray trim, then cut and roll walls.

    So this is what I was thinking and I'd love your expertise. 1: Lay dropcloth and 9" papermask floor of baseboard. Mask all windows, etc. 2: Airless spray ceiling, trim, and baseboards. Let dry. 3: Frogtape top of baseboards. 4. Cut in and roll 1st wall coat. Let dry. 5. Apply caulk to baseboards, 2nd coat of cut in, roll walls, and peel off frogtape all before caulk drys (3-4 ft sections at a time). Once again thanks for helping out our DIYers

    I've watched many of your tutorials and ultimately they led me to purchase a sprayer to complete my basement. I sprayed it with primer and used a flat paint for my ceilings, also sprayed, back rolling everything, and so far it looks great. The Sprayer has saved me hours of work and with a newly built basement, the overspray is less of a concern for me so it was a huge benefit to use! I almost started spraying my walls but after watching this video I'm going to roll them, thanks for the advice.

    I'm trying to find a video of your process of painting the walls after spraying the trim but I'm having a hard time finding it. What do you guys do? Do you guys just cut in around ceilings and trim and baseboard and roll or do you mask all the baseboards so you don't get any paint splatter on it when rolling. And after spraying the baseboard, if you do mask it are you guys using the method where you mask it and then caulk it because I feel like if you masked it and then cut it in you could end up with paint leakage onto the baseboard. I'd really like to know what your process is because I'm attempting to spray all the trim at a home in the next couple weeks.

How do we go about prepping everything in the house now to spray the trim last??? There is no personal belongings in the house. @Paint Life TV we seal pavers everyday but have just started painting again. It's been a good 20+ years, but man it was a nice change of pace last week. Should have sprayed and back rolled, lost probably 2 days. But it came out great. We mostly did interior back it the day. Would have really liked to spray the window frames and grills. The last guy was sloppy. Which tape do you prefer for masking glass? There's a ton of heavy oxidation on the bronze frames in Florida needing a fresh coat. BTW if you need a good option for oxidation look up gutter butter Patrick Clark makes it. Perfect prep for gutters and metal roofing ect. 1 gal will go a long way.

    If your spraying walls first and say it was like a dark grey colour and you obviously hit the ceilings a little bit, how would you get the white for the ceilings to cover when you come to spray them? And considering the ceiling line is not straight to use a shield to do ceilings first then walls

    Great informational videos! I'm looking to paint all kitchen & 2 bathroom cabinets, and 1000sq ft worth of baseboards as well as casings and doors. I've looked at HVLP Fuji sprayer, but for that price point, I think I would prefer a Graco Magnum Pro x17 as I can use the airless sprayer to paint walls for future projects as well. Any particular reason why u prefer a roller on the walls?... I've painted several walls with rollers and I can usually see the "W" pattern if u look at the wall from an angle, no matter how many coats or what technique I use. I thought airless sprayers corrected that, so curious why u still prefer roller before I make the investment. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    Chris and Co., I love your videos and I've probably watched every video you've made on what to paint first. BUT there are 2 burning questions that never seem to get answered: how many coats are you doing on everything and how do you prevent flashing from the trim overspray.

  • @alienproductions9948

    @@TheEasiestBusiness Thank you for that information. If it is 2 coats and they are caulking over tape and pulling the tape before the paint dries, are they taping and caulking twice (once for each coat)? Also, is it ok to overspray the trim onto the walls and ceiling if you are going to prime the walls and ceiling before the 2 coats or will that cause flashing?

  • @TheEasiestBusiness

    @TheEasiestBusiness

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@alienproductions9948 trim over sprayed onto the walls and ceilings won’t flash if you’re going to do 2 coats on the walls and ceilings after. If you’re adamant about spraying trim you can do it 2 ways. 1) paint everything else first and then mask everything off except trim and spray it, or 2) spray trim first and tape your trim up when doing the walls / ceilings. Also, i wouldn’t recommend tape / caulking if you’re painting ceilings/walls first because you can just make your crisp finish line when painting the trim last and as long as you aren’t super sloppy with your cut ins it won’t affect anything. Hope this all made sense.

  • @alienproductions9948

    @alienproductions9948

    @@TheEasiestBusiness That makes total sense and I can not thank you enough! My plan is: overspray the new trim (oil-based primer and 2 coats). Roll the ceiling and walls with BIN Zinser alchohol-based primer and 2 latex coats. Do I still need to mask the sprayed trim if I'm cutting-in with brush and rolling walls and ceilings? I see you said "tape" so I assume just a 1" tape no need to cover the whole trim with paper. Thanks in advance for helping me out!

  • @TheEasiestBusiness

    @TheEasiestBusiness

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@alienproductions9948 no problem man. I would just put a piece of white painters masking tape (sticks better than the blue IMO) over the painted trim before cutting in with the brush, and I’d immediately remove it after cutting in (snatch it off before the roll even) because it takes 30 days for paint to fully cure and if you leave tape on freshly painted trim for too long it’ll pull the paint off. Or you could cut in with no tape and just caulk the joint and use the caulk as a finish line. That’s what a lot of spec home builders do. They spray everything one color and caulk the joints for a clean finished look. But yes, there’s no need to completely cover the painted trim if you’re only brushing and rolling the ceilings and walls.
