The doctors wanted to institutionalize Curly when he finally became physically and mentally sick. Moe rejected this and personally took care of his little brother. This act, by itself, is all we need to know about Moe.

Fantastic. I met her father, Moe in 1960 on a publicity tour for one of 3 Stooges movies. He was cool. He went to great length to explain to me I shouldn't try at home what they did to each other in the movies. I told him I knew that.

My father, who worked in local media circa 1950 was assigned to pick them up at a train station and deliver them to a studio. As they exited the train to a small waiting crowd, they acted in character and did a bit of shenanigans much to the delight of the waiting fans. Truly a class act

I have so much respect for MOE...he was the brains...literally behind these guys...he took care of the other stooges taxes...pushed for all there deals and movies and shows...he was the driving force behind them and really was THE reason for the 3 Stooges. He also took care of Curly in his end days...much love For Moe and the 3 stooges

@@hellfire66683 I know he was officially a Stooge, but I simply couldn't stand Joe Besser and couldn't put him in even the same category as Curly-Joe DeRita, never mind the original Curly or Shemp. Btw, they had once considered making Buddy Hackett a Stooge, and after Larry had a stroke and couldn't carry on, Moe briefly considered replacing him with Emil Sitka, who'd been in several of their episodes. Also, DeRita was the only one of the six Stooges who wasn't Jewish.

As a young teenager of the 70s, the Stooges were one of the most important things I ever experienced. They formed the basis of my best friendships, my overall sense of humor, my powers of observation, outlook on the absurdities of life, and my ability to block any fingers coming at my face (LOL). And I'm not joking here really at all! As long as there's a planet earth, and a way to show things on a screen, the Stooges will live forever.

Many thanks to Mrs. Howard Maurer for being so gracious as to give us all a look into The Stooges private lives. She has always been willing to share the home movies, which are so funny and entertaining. I remember seeing her show them many years before this, on the Today Show, I think it was. Always a great thrill for any Stooges fan. Thanks to her for being so kind as to share. Long life and good health to a lovely lady. And thanks for posting, Don.

When my son was about 6 years old, I gave him the TV remote and told him it was his choice. So, as he was flicking through the channels, he passed right by the Stooges. I said, "hold on, what are you doing? You passed up the Stooges". Then it occurred to me that he didn't know who they were. What kind of a father was I? Anyway, we switched back and it wound up being the episode where Curly was the boxer and would go crazy if he smelled "Wild Hyacinth" perfume ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZuorKuTirLPdrQ.html ). Man, we laughed. That was over 20 years ago and we still occasionally reminisce on that great father/son moment. Anyway, I thought it was pretty neat how Letterman's audience went from cold to warm through that interaction. Joan was really well spoken and gracious. And it was nice to see Dave treating her nicely.
