Wow! She was so beautiful here. I think this moment was the apex of her beauty. She was 40 years old here and this is the most beautiful that I remember her - even during her young years during Sonny & Cher.

And her personality was so charming on this show. If you saw her only on The Sonny And Cher Show she was always pretending (acting) like she was judging Sonny the Dummy which was the act of course.

I saw a clip of Cher in concert, and she was telling the audience the story behind this appearance. There's a lot to the story, but she said she hadn't been on Dave's show because she was afraid he would say something mean to her that would make her go home and cry. But she didn't realize Dave had this huge crush on her and she thought it was cute when he was having trouble putting two words together.

Where does she say that?? Because Dave's huge crush was Terry Garr, Blake lively, Drew Barrymore, Julia Roberts but his biggest crush was Terr Garr. And he had crush on Natalie Portman... He never mentioned Char..... plus Char said because he says mean things to the guests he doesn't like???? Your information is little off ???? Plus only reason she went is he paid 28,000 for her hotel....

I love the way the chemistry is so constant throughout this whole exchange. She clearly legit thinks he's an a-hole, he clearly is one and hasn't fully accepted how much of one he is. But he's also masterful at keeping the dynamic fresh and knows his talent. He admires her for saying it which increases his attraction to her, she has enough charm and respect for him that she regards him just enough to keep things electric. She challenges him to up his charm game to max levels, not letting him get away with cheap jokes and effusive flirting. She's simultaneously challenging and coy. It's just perfect.

However, you have a very illustrative way of detailing your words to relate what it was that you recognized. As I was reading your description, the conversation they had was playing back in my minds eye, as it affirmed to me, that; yes, I did notice that about that particular interplay. Cher's body language says a lot. At the start of the interview shouting distrust, arms folded is a big indicator, leaning back, sitting away in the chair, her body almost turned away and shoulder up, laughter is a camouflage in a way, it looked like she wanted to sit in the furthest chair when she came close, yea not good vibes. She is not afraid to say what she thinks, very strong personality, she is definitely not a pushover.

Kind of reminds me of her and Sonny when they had their own show on t.v. Cher has aged like a fine wine. She just looks better as she gets older, and it's not all from cosmetic surgery. She appears to be so genuine and unique. Someone you could talk with for hours and never get bored. I have to say that Cher would have me 'eating out of her hand'.

This pivotal episode of Letterman from 1986 was the one that rocked Dave from being a late night cult hit to mainstream superstar literally overnight. I remember the amount of both serious news coverage and Entertainment shows salivating over this "shocking" appearance by Cher! The interplay was actually quite cute, absolutely charming and hilarious😅 Wonder when she wrote down her phone number during break and slipped it Dave if they ever 'met up' later?? ❤❤

Cher is everything! 🥰 I love her on Letterman, during all her visits she sure gave Dave a good ol' tough time - always tounge in cheek . 😂 I love her honesty and how she wraps it up in her sense of humor. This woman has achieved so much, and I will never stop admiring her for being the most amazing chick I ever had the pleasure of briefly meeting. We never talked, but I felt as if my life was complete just being in her presence 🤩I grew up thinking she was the coolest thing - I still do.

"Meh" I thought they had remained good friends thru the years. Her true feelings obviously shone through in her heart-wrenching eulogy to him after his death.

Took them as a couple, quite a while to understand that the initial love they had was still there. Truly their business but it is Cher and Sonny and we got to share in their acceptance of the love they had for each other. Frankly, once you have a child with a man that bond is still there after a divorce and life goes on. Only exception becomes if the Dad does not do right by the child and deal with his kid with love. Sonny did that. At the end game they knew that idea and I think Cher truly mourned his passing. Life is complicated and you can't explain it with one "sit down" with someone. who is a stranger like Dave was to Cher, . even if you are Cher.

Aha, "for 40", so she actually is a wreck, as anybody at 40, but for a wreck, it's above average. That's what that stupid "for" is conveying. When in truth she is as gorgeous as a woman can be (which is way more beautiful than a girl can ever be).
