jimmer's a very good basketball player, but he's had multiple looks in the NBA and just isn't quite at that level. good for him for having success in china.

are you kidding - he was drafted by the maloof brothers way too high (#10 in 2011 - missed on Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard) in part because they wanted someone who was going to fill seats. He shot 38% from the floor as a rookie and 41% overall for 4 different teams. Besides being a poor shooter, he's an automatic minus on defense - not athletic enough to check guards, not physical enough to guard the post. coach popovich gave him a solid look and if anyone could have turned him into a day to day player in the NBA, it was him. that being said, i root for jimmer and he's found a nice niche in overseas.

i will disagree with you there. i believe jimmer has worked his ass off. just watch this video at the array of moves he has - pull ups, off hand layups in traffic, etc. he is a very good player, just not an NBA caliber player. no shame in that.

Weirdest thing about Jimmer is that he's good at every level but just a bit underskilled when he's in the NBA. I mean the point guard class in the NBA is tremendously skilled, guys like CP, Westbrook, Curry, Kyrie, feast on other PG's night in and night out.

I think he wants to be a role player that can just shoot 3's like Novak did for the Knicks and Kyle Korver. But I'm not sure running off of screens and getting open consistently is something he's good at

The problem is 6'3" is too short for the skill set he has. That's basically the same height as Kyrie, Steph, and Westbrook except those guys are all way quicker. Now if Jimmer was 6'7" like Kyle Korver, 6'8" like Doug McDermott, or even 6'4" like JJ Redick he would be Wally Szczerbiak all over again!

I totally forgot that he's not that tall as well so you're absolutely right. And he doesn't have a specific skill or like a special move that he could use, like crazy handling or passing. Perhaps he can be a playmaker but it would be hard to suddenly have superior court vision at this stage in his career.

Jose Ortiz - not even close. There's a reason he didn't make it in the NBA. Lord knows he had so many chances and came into the league drafted high whereas for Lin it was backwards. Jimmer looks great against these weaker players but against NBA players who are much stronger and skilled, he couldnt cut it on both sides of the ball.

im a knicks fan. I remember we spend a whole season with the incredible back court of jose calderon and sasha vujacic. Talk about lay up practice for opposing guards and to maake it worse they couldn't make it up offensively. I guess since Jimmer was a lottery pick, they judge him harsher but he is easily better than many guards in the league but he can't get playing time to save his life.

Look, who would you rather have at the one or two guard spot: Fredette who is 28 years old and the peak of his career, a natural born scorer who proved himself in D1, D-league and now China; or a 19 year old unproven rookie? Yeah, a team like the Spurs get it: play the best man in a good system, rather than crossing your fingers every year hoping your first round dtaft pick matures into a superstar - while he's "maturing" he's losing games for your team. This is why the Spurs win 50-65 games every year - they don't pin their hopes on the low probability of drafting a superstar.

Last years Chinese MVP was Michael Beasley - he averaged 31.5/gm and 9 boards shooting about 48%. This year he's averaging just 15mins per game with Milwaukee and averaging 8.5/4 - his points per are super high in this '6th man' role. Meanwhile, Jimmer is averaging over 39 / 8.5 and shooting a remarkable 50% - and the NBA level competition in CBA this year is only deeper (meaning the league is getting tougher) Other NBA notables currently playing in CBA are Carlos Boozer, Lester Hudson, Jeremy Pargo, Marbury, Jabari Brown (who left LA after a 12/pt rookie campaign), Jamaal Franklin, Dejuan Blair, Jason Thompson, and about 70 others with NBA experience. Jimmer's domination is only proof that he can play anywhere. Naysayers can kiss my fat nancy

He would look great on a long team like the Bucks, Utah, even in ATL as a back up Dennis...One of the many things I don't understand about the NBA...he goes in the Gerald Green, Beasley bucket for different reasons, but just super talents that look good playing the game on all levels, but coaches just have little interest in developing them or building their talents into the plan.

Nothing against him but Until Jimmer learns how to play defense and play the spot up 3 point guy roll, he will never get a look from NBA teams. He still doesn't get that he isn't good enough to dominate the ball and shoot 20x per game at the NBA level. Those guys are to big, quick and skilled. If he was 6'6" then maybe, but he is generously listed at 6'2" with relatively moderate athletic ability for and NBA player. And his money shot, the three ball, is not even that accurate. 38% career average. Boogie Cousins is shooting 38% from 3 this year and that puts him as the 53rd best shooter in the league. If he checked his ego at the door, focused on what his potential strengths were and stopped worrying about getting his shot attempts, he could have been JJ Reddick.

If a playoff team has lost its starting pg to injury, it is possible that they will look at Jimmer to keep up the fire power. But it is hard to figure out these nba gms and coaches. They seem to blackball Jimmer at all cost, lol. It is hard to imagine juys like Aaron Brook, Jason Terry or Calderon whose O are so much less than Jimmer and whose D are no better and yet they get to play in nba but not Jimmer.

KL Sum Very well said - despite peoples hate towards his career - he has better averages than many current nba players. Some have terrible averages and yet stay - probably because of genetics. Infact - if it wasn't for the pelicans season in which jimmer had a bad 3pt % because he only took 1 3pt attempt a game - and of course mostly missed that shot - and then they sent him to sit. If it wasn't for that - he would probably be around 44% FG 40% 3pt for a career average - which would very very solid - even with that year though - his averages are above average.

HIs plan was preconceived and perfect... He knew when the CBA season ended he'd end up playing on a playoff team. Perfect. He should do this every year lol

Christian Robinson Not only that but - in the nba the latest contracts he was getting where nba minimum - about 450k. In china he is getting payed more. And he is the man. And the season is shorter also. Lots of benefits to China especially for players in jimmers position.

TROLL why can't people understand that this man simply CANNOT DEFEND! he is fast (moving forward and running) but cannot defend (moving laterally) he gets lost in even the simplest of defensive schemes and plays. This man can shoot okay but only against weak defense. Those little weak shots he makes when penetrating and moving with the ball don't work in the NBA against taller man. Simple as that.

Actually, if you check out my channel and did some research you would know that he received offers to play for NBA teams, but chose to go to China. There is 2 reasons for this. First, he will earn more money. Second, instead of having to prove himself getting virtually no minutes all season, he wants to have been getting minutes and getting reps even if it's in China, so that when he does sign with an NBA team for the remainder of the season, he will be in rhythm.

Jimmer is a bum, that's why he plays in China, any player even in NCAA division 3 that average around 12 pts per game can plau pro in Professional League's 1/2/3 in Lithuanian, Romania, Poland, Germany. Now in taiwan, laos, papua new guinea, namgladesh, nepal a 40 year old Ex high school player that is in Ok shape that averaged 10pts per page in mid 90's can get signed for 200$ a week and be a Professional Basketball Player and of his good enough like bum Jimmer will get his Chinese passport within a week with the presidents or prime minister's signature. Its not IF with "JIMMER THE BUM" he gets his new citizenship just a question when, With millions of american jobs lost to china and this BYU bum goes over there. It's a spit i the face to all hard workig midle class americans especiallly those that their plants/factory moved over Seas.............. BUM SUPPORTER JIMERWATCH U EVER HEA OF COPYRIGHT STRIKES? Why don't you have a game with Jimmer one on one to see if you can stop this 'bum', lol. No one in CBA can even though now the teams are all geared up to stop him, and even Houston yielded 33 pts to this 'bum' with Ariza and Beverley on his tail, who is considered a lock-down pg defender. Whatever.. Haters are going to hate.
