I quit watching wrestling for 5 years... When Vince was booted I started again. After all the praise of AEW and it's women, I decided to watch all of it too... It's the same thing Vince was running... Multiple shows a week and only 1-2 hours of something that actually matters. A look up of AEW Dark told me it was important. Half an episode in and I was ready to quit again..

She's also capable of being a legitimate draw too. Was one of the best quarterly hour ratings during the pandemic as champion and also was the only women in the top 10 merch sellers this year. Jim is letting his bias get in the way of seeing that.

I'd keep Thunder Rosa. She can and does hold up her own end every time. She and Britt don't like each other, but they can work together. A couple of blink-and-you-miss-them ladies complained that she no-sold them, but I saw those matches and what she did was not oversell really weak worked punches. I'd keep Shida, too, but the rest of the Japanese ladies would go and I'd be on the lookout for the next jumping bomb angels to take their places.

There's multiple 'super leagues' in sports (see WNBA) for women and outside of tennis, women sports will never get over to any high degree because it is athletically inferior.

If I were Tony I'd make every effort to keep Thunder Rosa, backstage drama be damned. Kind of odd Jim would sack her given she is a talented veteran with a fan base. She'd also be an excellent trainer. Toni Storm should be the top face of the division. She was the one that WWE (Vince's awful booking) let get away. Cargill is their Goldberg. Too much, too soon and belt made just for her, but she should be the top heel. Hot take: Britt Baker is overrated and gets her spot from Tony being infatuated with her.

Your hot take is true. But you forgot, DMD's connections keep her getting TV time. She's only great at mic skills, but her promos all sound the same, and everything else about her is ass.

I know she is injured but Red Velvet is someone I though always stuck out. Her enthusiasm shows! I think under the right training she could be star! She's athletic, goodlooking! She looks like she genuinely wants to be there and improve. I am glad they held on to her! Fingers crossed but I think she will suprise many (Especially when wwe steals her and some others, Hader, Statlander for example). Imo Btw the Rehooo song was one of my favorite Duran Duran songs! @@LoveProWrestling I can't speak much on Burke's drawing power. Moolah was never a draw. Nobody ever spent money because Moolah was on a card. Elizabeth was a draw because people loved the dynamic with Savage , and she was important in the Savage Hogan feud that drew many dimes. Sable for about a 12 month period in 98-99 drew dimes. You can throw Lynch and Flair in there if you want. They drew to a audience that's lost 75 percent of their fan base in the last 20 years. So Lynch draws in a vacuum , but doesn't bring any fans that quit watching in. All those others you mentioned never drew anything. Don't matter how technically good they are , it's not the same as drawing.

Hard recency bias against Athena. She was good as Ember Moon in WWE, and was trained properly. I gave her the benefit of doubt that she just started working a certain way because the girls she was with were pushing for it or something. As far as I know, she’s never hurt anyone prior to AEW.

Honestly really love the one where they rated all the men roster when they talked about each personality and who can stay who can go honestly loved it now excited to see the woman's one because yes they have a lot of men in the roster and most of them they should get rid of them but they won't because it's friends wrestling and all friends so they can't fire their friends or get rid of their friends because he's my friend so he has to have a job and that's the reason why they have so many people in the roster and they only guy who made ratings the only guy who made the difference the only guy who making magic good story on was thrown away or having a buyout is because he's not friends with anybody in the company and because the guys left to work not to make friends

solid picks, along with that, i would look at that impact women's roster and see when some of those contracts are up. they got some good talent over there.

Jade (already been on daytime tv), Hayter, Hirsch, and Storm I'm definitely keeping. I do find it funny the story about Rosa getting heat over the belt. I remember people spreading a rumor that Britt was mad she wasn't going to have the new belt and that's why she came out with the new belt. I remember Excalibur awkwardly pointing out she had a new belt.

i think bunny's last match to my memory was her tagging with ford to take on anna and tay in a street fight on rampage. only thing i remember from that match was ford not going through the table on the 1st go, and dang it all if it didnt look painful.

Also, given how much criticism she gets for her lack of wrestling ability now, how much worse would it be if she was carrying the division's main title and defending it once a month or less?

17:56 yeah Mercedes has not wrestled on Dynamite since she main evented Back in May when she beat Deonna to become the Undisputed ROH Women's Champion. Her only appearance on Dynamite since was making the save throwing off Serena Deeb when Deeb had the serenity lock too long on Anna Jay. That's it. Plus she's had a few tag matches on Rampage with Deeb prior to that. Other than that, she's been on KZread & the ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV. Also Age isn't the factor for Mercedes, it's more the injuries over the years like her Knee, Multiple Shoulder Surgeries, Multiple Concussions. She's trying to "Work Smart Work Safe", but a lot of the other talents just don't want to listen.

Didn't they turn her face after about 2 weeks and then turn her heel again soon after, and then she kinda did a shadow babyface turn when she won the ROH title? Another example of Khan signing somebody without thinking about what he can do with them

@@nbaldwin45 no she was a heel to start, turned face after the No-DQ match with Rosa & has been a face since, she had the Tag match with Rosa against Britt & Hayter, then the match with Hayter on Rampage then disappeared until Supercard of honor when she became the interim champ because Deonna was already booked elsewhere that night. Defeated Deonna on Dynamite & was on Dark or elevation for weeks on end afterwards either defending the title or starting the program with Deeb when they were the "Can they co-exist" tag team that had a few matches on Rampage culimating with Deeb attacking Mercedes to set up the DBD match. And TK always speaks highly about her but still does very little. Unless there's a certain power that be that's restricting Mercedes from TV. There's no reason for her Not to be booked on tv

@@nbaldwin45 no she was a babyface, she was still acting babyface. It was a "Heel & Face odd bedfellows" tag team. Deeb would go out first, Mercedes would go out 2nd & do the "Let's Go!" and the "I can't hear you.." finger behind the ear signal

It's so funny (and I knew it immediately as soon as the name was mentioned) that Brian Last is gonna simp again for Anna Jay, even tho she is there since the beginning and still has only the looks going for her. The same goes for Penelope Ford, too funny 🤣

100%. And Red Velvet should be on the keep list over Statlander. While I like Statlander as a person, she has great natural ability but he should have put her in the "listen and learn" section because she's had a few injuries. (To both of her legs already) and somewhat because of trying moves she doesn't always do. :( . I'd also keep Kiera Hogan.

Glad he didn't vote to outright cut Leyla Hirsch. I know her height is going to prevent her from being a major draw but I like her more pure wrestling and work style.

I agree with both but they are missing the boat on Madison Rayne -- they must have forgotten she carried Jade Cargill through her best match yet very recently. She's also done great things in Impact the last few years with some of the greener females. The Impact female roster over all kills it though and AEW should look at some of their ladies if their contracts come up.

Joe HATED playing that song, see Shea Stadium show, Joe also hated playing in stadiums as he preferred his audience to be right there with him and not separated by a ten foot high stage. That song was basically a Big Audio Dynamite song and Joe was not fond of Mick’s other project.

@@nickhughes8179 Ah OK, didn't realise any of that. I read an interview with Joe Strummer shortly before his death where he was asked about the song and he said 'No comment'. I was lucky enough to see Mr Strummer and the Mescaleros a few times - had the opportunity to see what would be one of his last-ever gigs at a fundraiser for the fire service and I turned it down, and I've been kicking myself ever since. I heard Mick Jones and Topper Headon got up on stage for that one.

You got to see a gift to music in Joe Strummer. I’m admittedly envious but in a good way! That No Comment was Joe being kind to Mick haha. Details are in autobiographies of the Clash and Joe himself.

As for Bunny she took away to film a movie. She just returned recently and was part of the recent dark tapings.

I find it hilarious that when Jim says a nam wrong and Brian corrects him JC still calls them by the wrong name

Talent and in-ring action, the best period of AEW women's division was with the japanese bracket.

Jaime Hayter should beat Toni Storm to win the interim and demolish Thunder Rosa for the AEW Women's title but Tony Khan don't have the guts to turn her babyface

In my opinion I'm not sure why Tony made Madison rain a coach I was a bit shocked by that because she's always been an impact and no disrespect to her but I never really thought she was a wrestling queen or anything especially when she was with the beautiful people and what not I always figured if somebody would get that role maybe it would have been like Mickey James because she did a really great women's show for NWA with the help of I believe Molly Holly and some other chicks but I always figured it would be Mickey James Madison rayne doesn't really seem like a women's coach to me

These roster run downs have just proven how incompetent Tony really is. Soooo much talent to work with…but he just doesn’t know what he’s doing

I have been watching Hikaru Shida since 2014 and have seen many matches from her that show her work much better than anything she has done is AEW. Seems they make even good wrestlers look bad. Glad she made the final cut on the list

9:36 last match I remember of Anna Jay was her Vs Rubo Soho Main Eventing Rampage Fight for the Fallen in July. She & Ruby were the last time a woman's match main evented either AEW TV program.

My opinion. Best workers: Deeb, Toni, Thunder, Allie, Shida, Hayter, Madison Rayne, Mercedes, Statlander, Willow. Best personalities: Britt, Jade, Toni, Madison Rayne, Allie, Saraya, Rebel, maybe Kris Statlander and Soho. Best Look: Jade, Toni, Allie, Anna, Tay Melo, Julia Hart. Paige, Britt, Hayter, Madison Rayne, Red Velvet. Potential: Leyla Hirsh. Leyla Grey. Sky Blue. Maybe Emi and Yuka. Kiera Hogan. Cut: Depends on how much time you wanna give the women. If they had an entire program, keep em all. First to cut - Athena (she was great but has become dangerous), Nyla, Anna, Riho (unless they make weight divisions), Abadon. Paige if she doesn't take it seriously. Shafir, unless her husband comes over to AEW. If you cut Thunder because women are bullying her, well same thing happen to Punk. Seems a bit like a double standard to give Khan a hard time about cutting Punk and telling him to cut Rosa for basically the same issue.

@@duckmercy11 Athena is dangerous. She has proven that time and time again. Allie is safe and one of the few people that has been able to make Jade look good. Madison Rayne is the second biggest vet in AEW, behind Deeb. And when given the spotlight the biggest in there behind Saraya.

I’m surprised Brian didn’t mention that when Chuck Taylor was on Floor Is Lava, he fell off a really easy obstacle when he wasn’t even making a big jump. He just sort of flopped into the lava like he jumps off the top rope.

Nyla should of been JUST A HEEL...and dominate. Have people question if she be allowed to and then have her beat Britt for the belt in a tournament. Making her the FIRST AEW women's champion. Adding fuel to the fire. Then have Britt eventually overcome and it be awesome. You can work the rivalry so well and it make Britt such a badass

I agree with Brian Last. Kris Statlander does look like a star. The Alien thing was weird, but I noticed it back then. She is really good and has ALOT of charisma. It sucks that she keeps getting hurt. It does look like she is injury prone. Hopefully if it is from her making mistakes she learns from them. She is one of the best parts. I actually like The Best Friends and Orange Cassidy when she was around them. She made them look good. 🤣🤣

They missed Sky Blue. Then again, everyone overlooks Sky Blue. Quite rightly.

I disagree. I think Sky Blue can work in a solid mid-card role. She has a natural baby-face appeal. Her work looks solid too.

Leva Bates can actually wrestle, and can get a good reaction. She was in NXT as the "local talent" in Carmella's first few matches. She was far more over than Carmella. The crowd did not give a fuck about Carmella. The other women in NXT apparently got pissed that a rando not signed to WWE was out-shining them, so WWE stopped using her.

@@NY32986 Skye was signed after her dubut match basically because fans liked her plucky underdog character. She is putting in the work and improving but still very young.

Great stuff, I can only imagine how triggered certain parts of the fanbase will be by this, especially those I see swearing up and down that Tay Melo or Hikaru Shida are two of the best workers in the world. At the same time, I think Jim's been a little hard on those two - Shida's probably in the top 5 best women wrestlers in AEW (which may not be saying much) and Tay's much more than just a valet and is miles ahead of, say, Anna Jay in the ring. Kris Statlander has the potential to be AEW's biggest female babyface if she can stay healthy and I still think Leyla Hirsch could work as a female Taz - she may be short but she has legit credentials and is strong enough to throw around any opponent. Willow is valuable too - she has a unique look, a bond with the fans and she can go in the ring. I'd keep Red Velvet but only as a babyface, certainly not as one of Jade's Baddies. Her joining that group made ZERO sense unless she was subscribing to the old 'if you can't beat 'em' adage.
