I worked at an indie in NC that was open about having a "rule book". Even had the rules posted on their website, so the local fans would know. Promoter was strict about it, too... Saw a brother break one of the rules, without clearing it with the booker & when he got back thru the curtain, the promoter cut a promo on him for 20min before shit canning him on the spot. Pretty sure someone at the network probably decided to finally sit down and actually watch a full episode or two to see what they were putting on their TV. That would also explain why the list goes a bit overboard with the restrictions. They probably panicked after seeing the product and wanted to make damn sure they covered all the bases.

This was REALLY enlightening. He has been letting everyone do whatever they've wanted for almost four years. I love how the "Rules and regulations" came out the week before Blood & Guts, but we also know that these rules won't apply to the EVPS, Jericho, or Moxley. Hell, one of the rules says to cut back on bleeding. It's also embarrassing that these rules came out 4 years after the company has seen multiple injuries and potential lawsuits. These all should have been enforced on Day 1. We will see how strickly they are enforced and who the apply to, but this is a strip in the right direction. Of course, many AEW diehard are losing their minds because "Oh No AEW is becoming more like WWE with its boring rules." Here's what I got from that statement. When you look at the list of agents in AEW, you legitimately have some of the best minds out there. I have a hard time believing that Dean Malenko or Arn Anderson would approve the matches we have been seeing in AEW. It is clear that the wrestlers are not listening, as Billy Gunn, JR, and others have said in various interviews. It sounds like the purpose of the list is to tell the wrestlers to start listening to the agents. For once, Tony is trying to lead. He is essentially telling the wrestlers that there will be consequences if they do not listen to the agents. He is trying to give the agents some authority so that they can institute some quality control. We'll see if he follows through.

@@InfectiousGroovePodcast anything in wrestling can be unsafe even when you do it properly. Look at Danielson he got hurt from a top rope elbow drop from Okada. Two of the best who know what they're doing and he got hurt from a basic move. Like I said I don't mind toning down certain things and nothing is being banned really they just need to tell people b4 it happens. But this seems way too familiar to how AOL got involved with wcw and how bischoff ruined tna cause essentially this thier attempt to cater to a "mainstream audience ". Since wcw and ecw closed Whenever a new company gets to a certain level the powers that be whether it's a TV company or management itself begins the WWEfacation of the product and in the process the company loses the identity of why people loved it to begin with. No one wants these wrestlers to get hurt. I hate that narrative The wrestlers are the ones who want to do that dangerous stuff. I'm not advocating Moxley blading every match or Sammy Guevara thinking he's Spiderman jumping off the statute of liberty. But like I said I like aew because at timed it is raw and rough around the edges and not so polished and pristine looking. The wrestlers for better or worse are allowed to be themselves. Are they going to have to pick new finishers? Or are their finishers going to be exceptions? And then the "no intentional bleeding" thing... I'm pretty sure that just bans Jon Moxley from being on camera. I can't see how these rules are going to work. I think they're just going to approve everything and we won't see any noticeable difference.

The no hanging looks like it directly targets Brody from house of black cuz he's the one that does those hanging spots where he puts someone in the sleeper and hangs them over the ring apron. of course Mox was probably bleeding just from thinking about this stuff. and don't forget Dustin... he bleeds in every match as well. he just doesn't wrestle as often as Mox so he goes more under the radar. but bleeding is literally his thing.

These spots just tend to feed upon themselves. Because they are so inherently dangerous they look overly participatory so the workers don't actually kill themselves. The fans see these overly-participatory spots and see the workers helping each other out. So the fans no longer suspend their disbelief in terms of believing the workers are really trying to hurt each other and have a real, competitive match. Instead the fans view it as the workers trying to inflict some pain upon themselves and come as close as they can to permanently injuring themselves and the other worker is helping them achieve that. So the emotion eventually becomes more and more about how much these guys actually hurt themselves and how close they can come to permanently injuring themselves instead of having a competitive match that people care about who wins and who loses and how they win or lose.

So, now that these rules are public knowledge: * Everyone will be watching to see who breaks which rules instead of watching the matches. * What happens when somebody blatantly uses one of the banned rules? * How much backstage drama will there be when one wrestler is told they aren't approved for a move but somebody else is? * What happens when a wrestler injures another wrestler with one of these "pre-approval required" moves? Is AEW more or less liable? Or does it make any legal difference? They've basically gotten so far away from any of the fundamentals of wrestling that anything short of live hand grenades or shoving someone in an industrial trash compactor doesn't even register a shock value anymore. Oh, and Moxley is gonna be so pissed! They've taken away his whole repertoire after this.
