Honestly, for all the flak it gets (thanks to overblown critics like the Nostalgia Critic), I really think this is a good adaptation of this story. It adds to why the Grinch hated Christmas, which the original book didn’t do (though it was because it was a short children’s book, so why even add a backstory in the first place?). Granted, nothing could beat the classic, but this could stand on its own as a good adaptation. Point is, it’s too overhated.

The Grinch is without a doubt one of Jim Carrey's most legendary roles! i mean the way his performance just absolutely brings the character to life is just magnificent!

This movie is absolutely insane! And that's why I love it. Jim Carrey really makes the character his own and refuses to hold back.

The story, the acting, the comedy, and Jim Carrey as the Grinch makes this Dr. Seuss film adaptation a really fun time!

Fun fact: the actress who plays Martha May is also Leonard’s mother on big bang theory

Martha may is literally the best character that ever came out of this movie. She always loved the grinch ever since she 1st met him and was always very nice and sweet towards everyone

Fun fact: The table scene was not scripted! They wanted Jim Carrey to pull it off and have everything go flying off the table for a gag. But Carrey is such a master at it he kept doing it perfectly, so finally, he just went back and knocked everything off by hand, and that's the take they went with.

Did you know that the scene where the Grinch pulls off the blanket from the table without knocking anything off wasn't in the script? Jim Carrey was so good at that trick that he had to knock the plates and cups off by himself

This movie must’ve been SO damn expensive to make. The sets, the props, the costumes, most of the practical effects, the fact that everyone has on prosthetics, etc.

The table cloth Scene was improvised actually. Jim Carrey was originally written to pull everything off the table but pulled the cloth keeping everything on the table. So he ran back to knock everything off the table

I really love martha. She always liked the grinch ever since she was a kid, and the sad expressions she had when the grinch let out his anger at school always gets me. Especially when she looked at the gift he made for her.

Fun facts-

I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!"also I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless

Funny you should mention prosthetic work, because Carrey almost quit this role because of how long it took to get dressed up as the Grinch, it required staying still for hours (6 to 8 a day I think), he needed to get military training in enduring torture tactics just to grit through it. Thankfully, the results were worth it

The line "Dinner with me. I can't cancel that again!" was improvised by Jim Carrey. Also, when he pulls the table cloth, the silverware was scripted to fall off but since he managed to pull it off perfectly, he went back and knocked it all over, hence why it was left in the movie.
