I found Hope on the street to be amazing. It felt like Jhope was showing us pre debut Hosek. What he loved and how he was. As a kid I loved dance took tins of class, watched all things dance and at 50 people who knew me then still tease me that I always wore a leotard no matter where it went. But by high school I gave all that up. And now dance only at home when I'm alone. But this series reminded me of a younger self learning to move my body to any beat. And I laughed and cried for not only rediscovering myself but rediscovering my love of Jhope

I feel the same way as you. And I’m in my 70's and still dance in my home. I loved traveling back in time with Hobie. His honesty was very refreshing.💜🇺🇸

What makes Jhope adorable artist is being a consummate dancer and rapper too. That is what makes him distinct from the others of same domain.

"...soaking in greatness." What a perfect metaphor for J-Hope and his six brothers. As the mother of a former NYC street dancer who used to watch from the window as he and his buddies tore up the street, I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis of (and respect for) Hope on the Street. Thank you.

I understood going in that J-Hope was exploring his foundations in dance and what he left behind, so that wasn’t a surprise for me. I also have always been in awe of his humility in BTS where he seldom is featured in the dances. He is on the side or in the back so often while other members are front and center. What this felt like for me is J-Hope establishing himself as a complete artist and sharing more about who he is with Army. I feel honored that he was willing to share this journey, and I loved learning from and with him. Filling in the gaps of his dance roots and showcasing the range of talents that makes him who he is. He is a respected composer, lyricist, musician, dancer, producer with such depth and such authenticity that everyone he meets seems to be drawn to him. He was the last member I feel like I got to know and he is the now the member I respect the most. I cannot wait for season 2 and hope there will be more. I want to learn more from him.

I loved the interactions with Boogaloo Kin (sp). He is very much like Hoseok with a big heart, happy spirit, but also with such respect and love for his friend. ❤

I haven't finished watching the series yet but i remember gasping slightly when his co-host/mentor said that he accepted the invitation to work on the project because of Hoseok ... the person; not JHope the superstar. (Or something to that effect.) I can only imagine Hobi's deep appreciation and respect for the people and the culture of street dance; particularly after recognizing the core purpose of this project - Hoseok's journey back to his roots. I love when you expressed how you recognized this was HIS journey ... he just took his friends (ARMY) with him. 💜

I loved J-Hope taking us along on his journey. I came to love and appreciate him even more. His humility is inspiring.💜

HOTS was such a journey. A journey for Hobi to rediscover his love for dance and a journey for the viewers watching each episode. Watching episode 1 was exciting as it gave a preview of what's to be expected. I was squealing as I heard snippets of the songs. But came the next episodes and I cried in each one of them. Watching Hobi traveling to different cities meeting masters of street dance was too emotional for me. At first, I didn't know why but later on, I realized it was emotional because it made me question myself the same questions they posed in the documentary. It made me reflect about things in life, what I love doing, what I am currently doing and why I am doing things. (And of course, anything with Hoseok in it is just everything for me. My tears were a mixture of introspection and awe of Hobi. Well, I am always in awe and proud of this man, watching the documentary more so) It is so Hoseok to do this type of content. His love for dance, music and artistry is genuine. I say this time and time again that if only I had an ounce of Hobi's dedication and attitude towards everything, I would be on top of the world. This man just never stops learning, never stops relearning and perfecting his craft. HOTS Season 2 is coming and I'll always be here to support him and be in awe of him. 🎊🎊 For now while waiting for what's to come, let's stream his songs and show him that many lives are touched because of his music. I'm always in awe of Hobi's choices. From his debut being a non-dance project to Lollapalooza to this documentary. The courage this man has blows my mind. I loved this documentary so much and it even inspired me to start dancing again. What a gift.

The magic of j-hope is undeniable. His lifelong passion for dance and music is a joy to listen to and watch. However, it is much deeper than that; sharing his memories, vulnerabilities, vision, and mindset beautifully displays his heart and character. "What if"...we keep dancing, we keep loving, we keep hoping, we keep inspiring?! 💜

I'm so glad you got it!! I've been thinking the whole time, this is a journey we are aloud to take with Jhope. He let's us see what and why he has stayed with dance all these years. Yes, he showed how he is still loving the dance and even when it's hard, frustrating or exhausting, you don't give up if you truly want to became better. He not only showed us all why he loves the art of dance, but I think he opened up the path , showing the younger ones how it's going to be if they want to get into it. He showed the kings and what thry have done, how many years thry have worked, how they are still working and how they feel about their art. To me it also put a spot light in the industry to showcase these older artists, that some may not know or had lost touch with. It will keep them more updated to the whole globe. You have to remember, him being a global artist, will bring alot more people than you think into this art of dancing. It will open doors for the older artists and especially the younger ones coming up that might not have known about the artist in other countries. Think about it. I loved that it showed him frustrated, it just makes him a more down to earth person that people can relate to. He did what he wanted to do and so much more with this documentary. It will open so many eyes back onto street dancing and I hope help so many. He's our Sunshine man and everything he touches gets lit up and showcased. Be it a dance sequence for an advert on performance of advert for a specific client. I came full circle about 15yrs ago when I started teaching Integrated Performance Art. What a blast 🎉. Watching J-Hope's documentary had me literally spellbound. Because I had come to love dance and feel that sense of regret for not honing that skill. I understand why you were confused by HOTS and it took you a while to figure it out and understand why he did it the way he did. I’m in my 40s now and have a regular day job but I’m also a dancer and I have lost the track of just how many pairs of shoes I destroyed dancing on the street 😅 He showed in his documentary the reality of street dancing-this is it-we take a speaker and go dancing. It’s not glamorous but it brings us joy and that feeling you have is everything. It doesn’t matter what type of dance you do, be it hip-hop, latin, swing… we all feel the same. And no matter how long you’ve been dancing or how good you are-it’s the craft that you learn all the time, you never stop getting frustrated because you struggle to do something,but you keep going at it till you get it right and then still keep practicing because it’s the satisfaction that you get when you nail it that one time… Someone said once that the road is more important than the destination. In dance as in life itself you are constantly traveling the road,learning,improving… you never really reach your destination,there are always few more steps to take. And as you travel that road you start appreciating people that you meet on the way that have an impact on you. Sometimes you can even learn from a beginner and that’s what makes it beautiful… Hobi showed it perfectly by showing all the imperfections.

Watching this video made me feel pure joy. I find myself smiling every time I think of it. Life is dance. J-Hope is one with Life's dance. Every up and down, twist and turn. He is sharing his continuous journey with us.

i loved J-Hopes presentation, i found it clear from the start what it was and what it was about, i felt so honoured to witness him re lilving and exploring his past and reigniting and learning again what it was that sparked his passion for dance. meeting all those that were part of or inspiration for. i loved the street dancing, the sharings, the interactions, the clothes and locations he chose. and sharing the journey with his old mentor. was beautiful. i loved it.

As with all their projects and artistic endeavours, BTS are not being pushed from behind by ARMY, they are not dragging us along, we are walking hand in hand and discovering so much together. So while I will never stand on a stage in front of 60,000 fans, I can with BTS. While I will, never travel to Qatar to attend the world cup, I can with BTS. And while I will never street dance in SK with the best in the world, I can with BTS. And as they now leave their 20's behind and strive to understand themselves more, they give us the unbelievable opportunity and still take us along with them for the ride of a lifetime. How anyone cannot be moved and inspired by them I will never know.💜

HOTS was so real, honnest and true. Hobi was full of passion and respect, so humble. Yeah like you said it's so rare for a superstar to show frustration, imperfection,...the reality of being a life-long learner.

Thanks for the review! Just a quick fact check: towards the end you kind of implied Boogaloo Kin was part of Neuron, which he is not. Neuron was the group that took j-hope under their wings when he couldn't afford proper dance training. Boogaloo Kin came in as a teacher (we're not sure when) before j-hope entered Big Hit. We can also see through the dynamics in the last episode that BK and Neuron never seemed to have worked with each other.

Thank you for your thoughtful approach to j-hope's Hope On The Street project. From the first time I saw BTS perform, I have admired Hobi's impressive talent. But, I admire his intelligence and character more. Hobi is just a good, good guy. As you realized, Hobi needed to take this journey for himself, but he did the hard and humbling work of sharing it all with us. It was a labor of love. Hoseok cares about connections, and as I watched each episode, especially the final homecoming with Neuron, I thanked God that Hoseok reconnected with his first love and his old friends before he enlisted in the military.

I'm on my second viewing of the series and I'm getting so much more the second time around. It is definitely all about j-hope's journey. I feel like this is so honest and heartfelt. He really lets us in. Your analysis is so thoughtful and articulate. You put into words some of my own confusion watching it and how he wasn't always the star of the dancing in the series. Also, just an fyi, it's Boogaloo Kin.

It was precisely the unadorned aspect of the documentary that underscored J-Hope’s nature - his honesty; his self deprecating nature; his natural instinct to share the spotlight with others (and in fact to step away from it so that others could shine, as we saw often and often in BTS); his ethic for hard work; and his respect for others who knew their craft, irrespective of whether they were (as) famous or not. The man is beautiful, through and through, and this seemingly “unexciting” documentary allows us to see him as he is with utmost clarity!

I think they could've spent more time with the expert dancers' thoughts but I really loved the series and hope he can continue something like it when he returns. My feeling was that Bugaloo Kim was both very proud of JHope but also made him question his own life choices. It's only natural though and he seems to care a lot for Hobi. He felt sad when JHope was doubting himself and he gave very good advice about those doubts. He really made JHope feel better so I love him for that. And he's still rockin' those dance moves while in his mid/late 30's. ❤ I'm a little disappointed on how little attention JHope's album and series received. Most 'BTS' reactors will watch everything released by BTS members but that hasn't been the case for the normal group of reactors or even YT dance experts. I've even put in multiple requests or recommendations to try to get the album and series more exposure but nothing so far. People say it's because of the 'boycott' but rarely hear anything about it, so I don't know.

@wild_sunflower Some so-called fans were boycotting Hobi's album because Scooter Braun is CEO of Hybe America and he's supposedly a Zionist. Like BTS has anything to do with Hybe America. 🙄

I love how all the guys in BTS let us see that they are human. It takes REAL humility to do that in their position. You can't fake that kind of mindset. But it is that genuineness, curiosity, passion and wonder that drives them. And it fascinates people. I think it is a big part of what makes them so magnetic. Obviously the music too, lol. But being humble is their superpower.

You said it so perfectly - because I really enjoyed the series. I have watched it three times. This was truly very J-hope because even as a BTS member - he has constantly shared his work process and always been so humble is learning from people. He is not afraid to be a student

It is courageous to choose a completely different style. But it is clear that this choice makes him very happy. J-hope deserves everyone's support. The music is beautiful, the dance is special and the images are works of art.

I asked my hubby if he wanted to watch HOTS with me. We watched 2 episodes at a time, and he got more enthusiastic every time. He is a 73 y.o. music lover of Jazz, R&B, funk rock, and classical genres, and he is absolutely NOT a dancer. He said he learned so much about street dancing from the documentary, and we should show it to a friend of ours, a professional musician who made music for film and dance theatre! We both thought having Bugaloo accompany him on his journey was such a brilliant idea. And his HUMILITY inspired that! Anyway, today, hubby was recommending HOTS to the severs in a Korean restaurant where we had dinner! For a non-ARMY he is doing a wonderful job promoting J Hope! 😂

Thanks for this explanation. I was uncomfortable watching the series from, the clothing he wore juxtaposed with the setting, the dance practices etc. To me it felt like an explanation of why I am not a great dancer, a concept that is astounding to me. In North America you never,ever display or acknowledge a weakness vital to your craft (it messes with your psyche). I’m still digesting it.

I enjoyed Hope on the Street very much, so I took my time in watching this 😏💜😌 It felt like a 'moment' of self reflection that Hobi shared with us. The love and respect depicted in the series warmed my heart They hinted at a season 2 - 🤔 - maybe we will see more of BK and Hobi, and their interactions with the interesting personalities in the world of street dance 🥰

A culture of life-long learning is a very enviable trait. His willingness to share his profile with those he admires was an act of great generosity. Perhaps this will give him a greater understanding of how RM and Jin must have felt as they struggled to master dance.

He gave us the reality of what it is and how it feel to try to become a dancer, many times you want to give up but he held out even if it has been hard on him and that's why he say the words too, keep on dancing follow your heart and don't give up on a dream. I do think it wad his fsther that didn't like that he wanted to become a dancer and yeah I do understand why...it's not a job in many persons eyes. But he is soo good on dancing that he can become a dance teatcher later in life.

As I am now discovering their earlier music videos, it is clear to me that BTS returns again and again in circling ideas, exploring, extending, revisiting and redoing. Perfection is laughable in this context, isn't it? And Hobi, out of them all, is the least likely to avoid exploration. When fans say V is perfect or JK is perfect or BTS is such, I just smile and read the statement as "you make me perfectly happy" - and they surely know this. It annoys me when the ignorant belittle BTS; then I ignore and move on to the joy of music our BTS gifts to the world. Jhope carries so much of this gifting spirit, as Pandora knows :-)

Sorry, I hope now you can continue about Hybe viasco, after a new press conference from Min Hee Jin.
