Back in-1972 I heard about this guy who stands on one leg and plays the flute and has manically also played acoustic guitar and. I thought I had to find out more of this group. And I’m still listening to this fifty years later

Ian is for me the most entertaining frontman of a band I can imagine and beside that a musical genius.

Barre is simply a genius guitar player. His playing is menacing and peaceful, at the same time.

I feel so sad to listen how Ian lost his powerful voice of last ages and the huge effort he makes to sing a delicate and soft lullaby like Nursie is..😥

Every heart attack when I'm in the hospital, four times now over the past 20 years, I sing this little song to myself while I lay in the recovery room or once I get home and my wife, my sweet home nursie, cares for me. "Oh Nursie dear, I'm glad you're hear to brush away my pain."

This tune fondly reminds me of my Mother. I thank you Ian Anderson for sharing. Short but so very sweet. One of my many favorites. Thanks again.

And just why would he choose not to? He had vocal chord surgery and his voice was never the same after the operation. He's still the best in my book and he is a musical genius. That's no reason to run him down. I'd gladly go see him again in concert even if he wasn't singing.

Strangely that isn't exactly true. He's just lazy. On the Thick As A Brick 1 & 2 shows Ian did in 2012 he uses his old blues voice.. When I heard the bootleg from 2012-04-29 The Swan Theatre, High Wycombe I was blown away when he got to "the poet and the painter casting shadows on the water" and sang in his old voice. When he started belting out :the youngest of the family is growing with authority" I nearly crapped my pants. He can still do it, just chooses not to
