A thing to remember is that this movie not only came in 2001, during the kickoff of the Random-Comedy era that gave us things like Homestar Runner and Sealab 2021, but this movie was also chock full of taboo subjects, at least in the West - things like depicting religious characters as real but different than stated in legend, as well as just the open incorporation of lesbians (remember this movie came out only a handful of years after Chasing Amy - nowadays this wouldn't be even remotely big but at the turn of the century, this kind of thing was really daring). Having said that, the fact that the movie is actually rather well-natured, rather than attempting to be an aggressive, biting comedy (since South Park had just recently changed the whole comedic landscape), is actually commendable, and I like that they made Jesus a good dude, pure and simple. I just wish that they didn't change his look so that he'd look like a normal guy... maybe they just found that the movie was difficult to do with the wig and fake beard. I really liked some parts of this movie, including the scene-wipe where they use the Crucifix as though it was the Batman logo in the 60's Batman show - it's just a shame that much of the movie just sorta...exists. Those parts aren't engaging and it's not even because they fail to be engaging - it's more like it's just blatant padding, like Cinematic Foam Peanuts.

H-have you ever seen a vampire movie back in those times? Every vampire chick was a lesbian. So much so that it's a cliche to hear about a lesbian vampire. I know because I'm a 90's kid.

@@wintermoon7003 I suppose not really - I do know that they were always hyper-sexualized and usually Bi (at least this was slightly inferred in the late 80s and early 90s when I was a kid) - Was outright lesbianism overt already by the turn of the century? If so, I suppose I learned something new today. Having said that, was it always the vampire women themselves, or also the non-vampires?

I think you're misremembering what the state of indie movies was like at the time, there were tons of lesbians, to the point where it became a cliche. You can see cartoons and movies make tons of jokes about how EVERY indie movie had lesbians, but oddly enough they all seemed to think it was revolutionary and shocking when they did it. South Park actually made an entire episode based on that joke. It was the episode where the indie film festival was hosted by South Park, and every single film shown in the festival was about lesbians. Wendy even says that every indie movie is about lesbians at the end of the episode. Plus, around that time there was a 'gay best friend' in pretty much every movie and show. After Ellen had that famous episode about being a lesbian that established her as the biggest female comedian ever, everyone wanted to be the next big gay actor that would generate a defining moment in tv history, so you had pretty much every mainstream show having 'the gay episode'. It wasn't like Chasing Amy was the first show about lesbians, or this dumb movie was the first indie movie to feature them. If anything, the lesbians being included just show that it was chasing trends.

If I had a nickel for every time I encountered a piece of media that involved Jesus and vampires, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice. For context, in the anime Lupin the 3rd Part 2 Jesus is literally confirmed to have a twin sister that was the first vampire.

Possum, I have a novel for you. The first video of yours I watched was The Eragon review, and since then I’ve watched all your videos, and you’re now my top favorite KZreadr. At first I wrongly assumed you were just another reviewer, but when I watched your Ghostbusters review, I realized you knew what the hell you’re talking about. One of the other things that drew me to your content is your avatar. Most people who have avatars on KZread, they’re really pretty. Yours? I love them. The art style you use sticks out and I absolutely love it. I’m an artist, and I appreciate the skill you display in your drawings. I can always tell what the drawing is, and they’re just so charming. I also appreciate the fact you don’t try too hard with the animation parts. In this video, the Jesus joke you did had me rolling. The stock footage mixed with the completelt white drawings was just… i love it. It’s funny. On that note: i loved the Jesus joke. It wasn’t thtrowing shade on religion, making fun of it, or anything like that. It was just such a solid joke. I also ADORE how you get into character when you’re acting. You clearly have a passion for filmmaking, and It’s so nice and fun to see. Love ya, Possum. I’m not a patron because I’m poor, but I watch all your videos, and reccomend them to everyone I know.

I've acted in a few ... low budget movies before. Honestly, sometimes yes everyone knows the movie is terrible. In a movie like this one, the awful factor may even be intentional. Some people are making an honest attempt to make a good movie and just fail, either because they don't have the budget for the movie they want to make, or frankly haven't developed the talent yet. However, you do also run into directors, producers, and other actors who are so full of themselves that they believe their art and performance deserves to be viewed and enjoyed just because it exists, and will get *very* offended if you dare to criticise it. Even if your criticism is "hey, I appreciate you don't have a big budget, but" and then they get offended and simply say you don't know how to watch movies correctly. So to put it bluntly...a good number of times, people think it's actually good.

I actually thought that Ice Cream God was an example of the filmmaker actually trying to make a practical effect. Given the budget of approximately thirty cents, I think it worked. The weird sexual assault? Definitely hate that more.

You'd think just touching Jesus would severely burn the unholy. Now I want a movie of a beefcake Jesus just hugging hell spawn to death. The theme would be "Killing with Kindness."
