For the most part we took all of the movie's glaring, overwhelming issues in stride, but I'll never forget the dead-eyed look we threw one another after the ending. We both had a "what the fuck did I just watch?" look on our faces, and after about a minute we vocally agreed that we just wasted our fucking time on this thing and simply popped in a VHS of The Incredibles and had a much more pleasant afternoon. In the original Dracula story, there was a part where Dracula invades a boat called The Demeter. Then the captain binds himself to the wheel after Dracula killed his crew. The plan didn't work because the heading of the ship still worked and this is how Dracula invaded England. I don't know why the Captain tying himself to a chair would do the same as tying himself to the wheel, but I guess they were trying to make a shout-out to that? Even though technically in this, Dracula doesn't invade another planet but the ship spontaneously explodes before that can happen.

"Dark Side of the Moon", a space ship wanders into an area of space between the Earth and the Moon that somehow aligns with the Bermuda Triangle and they run into the Devil. Yeah it's a really weird movie. Brandon Tenold has a review of it.

Back when this was available at the local video rental outlet, I really thought that it was the third installment in Wes Craven's Dracula movies. Like, the director and studio had all just gotten fed up, said "ahh ferkit," and this was the direct to DVD conclusion that was churned out in their absence. Live and learn I guess.

Kinda on a tangent but as a Warhammer Fantasy fan, I was always stunned no one thought of the Vampire Coast earlier. Vampires that live under the sea because they don't need air or sun and just pirate the living hell out of everything.

How long has it been since we've had a horror movie with likeable characters that we care about? You would think that if characters are being hunted and killed by evil, unstoppable, forces, that the film makers would want us to actually care about the good guys instead of making every-single-one of them complete a**holes.

This is one of those mysterious DVDs I always saw at the video rental place with a memorable cover that I just instinctively knew was an utter turd. A shame Udo Kier was attached to this, but the man is a professional and has been in his fair share of turkeys. I recall vaguely watching this on sci-fi I think back in the day and for some reason this melded with Jason X in my head.
