The Doom Marine/Slayer IS caring, that's his whole thing really. He got sent to Mars for refusing to kill innocents, he has a pet bunny named "Daisy" and he tries to save humanity. Predator 20357 not entirely. The Maykr need some guy called The Father to continue existing. He goes missing/died so they just Ally with Sentinel Prime and crusade to get followers of this religion. Eventually The Outlander (Insane and mumbling about guts and chanting rip and tear) appears and soon after Demons do. The Maykr and Preists Of Deag discover Argent Energy in hell from Souls/suffering and the Maykr use it to continue living by manipulating hell into invading Sentinel Prime. The Outlander (Since buffed by Totally-Not-Hayden) and some others discover this and start a civil war. Eventually the Energy needed exceeds the amount produced so they get hell to invade earth (Long after the civil war ends with the Maykr side winning and only The Betrayer and Slayer surviving from the Night Sentinels. This was prob also influenced by Hayden setting up shop) to get more souls.

Her name is the strangest part of it. Joanna Dark is the protagonist of Perfect Dark. The single most badass woman who isn't superhuman. Plus they brought in more than just the Imps. The fact that they had a showdown with a Hell Knight against Destroyer was a great move. One of the best scenes in there alongside the first-person scene. And it was even more impressive the fact that he almost won against the Hell Knight despite losing his gun early on.

I like to think that this is just a group of UAC people that have to deal with a couple of fodder enemies before the DoomGuy dealt with them. Imagine the main character seeing a caco or mancubus for the first time, that'd be priceless.

Damn, when ID software straight up said that they’re not even involved with that abomination of a movie that misrepresents the series entirely, my respect for them went up even more.

Sad thing is, Doom Girl isn't an inherently bad idea, if done properly. Make her a bit beefier, a little taller, and of course, up the violence to the max, and it doesn't matter what gender the Slayer is. But yeah, if you want a female character in a sci fi role, why not make a Halo movie with a female Spartan? Or maybe Perfect Dark?

They tried tapping into the Rian Johnson school of subverting expectation.

"We see scars on her back to know she is a tough girl." Scars on your back would happen either because A) You fell on your back, B) You were flanked or C) You turned your back to your enemy. So....no. She's either below competent or a coward. To quote One Piece about Whitebeard; "Half his face melted off, slashed and stabbed 267 times, hit by more than 152 bullets and 46 cannon shots, all in one battle... but when the jacket comes off, there is not a single scar on his back, as he never showed it to the enemy.' Sorry movie, but you messed up on that too.

Well not really. Being flanked means the person has gone against multiple opponents at the same time, or even ambushed but survived. Since, you know, the person is still alive even after that. I would say that it's pretty tough.

I love the fact that the lead is so short she has to jump to try and be intimidating. But here me out. An actual Doom movie cast. Josh Brollen (Doomguy) cause he played cable so his capable of playing a deep angry grizzled. He could just needs to have one line “Rip and Tear” at The ending.

Black guy wasn't wrong though, this movie was ultra nightmare level difficult to watch

As a fan of mst3k and rifftrax I've learned to appreciate bad low budget movies. They're relaxing to watch especially in this case when compared to the 2005 one and you can have a couple laughs at the stupidity or god awful acting/special effects along with one or two handfuls of amusing smirks. DOOM 2005 although technically better is unpleasant to watch because it's a scene or concept that's either executed well but the premise is uninteresting or it's poorly executed but the idea was good, and then couple that with the little suspense there is and it's unpleasant. Though if they got rid of rapo creep and horny black guy I might have a different opinion, though rapo creep's ".... what?:)?:)" was hilarious.

I stand by my recommendation of the only video game movie that matters this year and that's detective pikachu. Great cast loads of laughs(I actually laughed more at home then I did at the theater but the theater had lousy sound quality strange I know) and a heartwarming plot. I know i sound like a corporate schill with my review but it's true

you guys should check out MrH's interview with the director. he's really a cool guy. the film sucks obviously but I think you'll get more of an appreciation for his work. he admits it could have been better but he was given a shoe string budget to work with.

One of my favorite, little nitpicks, is that lady with the blue hair learned French while in 'hypersleep'. So, here's a concept, WHY, doesn't every soldier get trained on the layout, situation details, and any other related info about the base they're going to? On the plus side, It would also make for a super easy way to minimize pointless chit-chatting and cut right to some action scenes, which the film drastically needed.

The helmets they have on are for airsoft, they're like 40 bucks on Amazon

People in the movie: Scared of nuclear power, have no situational awareness, and need an entire team to figure out what is going on. People in the games: harness the power of argent energy that originates from hell itself, attempting to actually weaponize the demons themselves, needing only one space marine, who is feared by the entirety of demon-kind donning near invulnerable power armor made in the fiery depths of hell, to go into hell, kill a bunch of demons, get bored, then close the portal to our realm from theirs, without even breaking a sweat.

The first Doom film at least had cheap CG and Rock Johnson going for it. Annihilation has cheap-ass props that look like they were lifted from old stock for shitty kid's costume shops, and a egomaniac for a lead character.

Fun Fact! When making some of the soundtracks for DOOM 2016, Mick Gordon used an actual chainsaw instead of a guitar.

All you need is a big, beefy guy with a gun the size of a fridge. That's really hard to fuck up and these people managed just that.

That would have been perfect lol. Specially since now humanity consider the Slayer their god in Eternal, it could also make some sense since it's possible there are multiple universes in the new doom lore

I remember watching this movie for whatever reason right after getting back from basic training. Not only is the plot absolutely terrible. I couldn’t stop saying thinking to myself “where the fuck is your battle buddy” every 30 seconds

In reference to the security door closing when the panel is shot: It's perfectly feasible if the door is powered, and automatically closes with a fail safe if power is severed. It's a security design

i think it kind of is. there's a music genre called 'danger music' or something, and most of it is just somebody screaming. smashing glass and throwing objects around. some guy did a show where he just smashed plates on the stage, and sometimes threw them at the audience.
