These podcasts by both Cooper and Maxwell are all engrossing and interesting. West establishes much greater vividness and credibility to the game in the 60's.

Growing up a Lakers fan in the early 70's I as a young black man am proud to say that Jerry West was my first idol. I became a formidable player from emulating Mr. Clutch! I am also pleased to have witnessed the epic battles with Kareem and Wilt. Kareem was the most awesome player I've ever seen. Trust me when I say that Kareem in his Milwaukee years was much better than most people can imagine.

I've always been a big fan of Jerry West, but this interview told me a lot. It's as if he wants to avoid the obvious: the '71-'72 Lakers. That team won 33 games in a row which to this day is still a record. They finished the season 69-13. That was a record until the Bulls did better. That season the Lakers won the Championship for the first time in Los Angeles. That was a team that played right and Jerry was a part of that team. Baylor started the season with the Lakers but had to retire like 9 games into the season. When he retired, the Lakers started their 33 game win streak. At the end of the Finals, it was Wilt Chamberlain who was named MVP for the series. Yes! Wilt Chamberlain. How come Mr. West didn't mention this? The way he spoke it's as if that didn't happen. It was Wilt Chamberlain who led the Lakers to their first championship in Los Angeles. And he did in record breaking fashion. Additionally, Wilt led Philadelphia to a championship in the '66-'67 season with a 68-14 record. Do you see that? Until the Bulls broke the Lakers 69-13 record, it was Wilt Chamberlain who owned the best 2 season in NBA history. Again, the '66-'67 season at 68-14 and the '71-'72 season at 69-13. Yes Wilt Chamberlain the owner of the best 2 team in NBA history until the Bulls and Warriors did better. So don't give me any of that crap that Chamberlain was a selfish player. Chamberlain is the GOAT.
