Facts! I know that the Lakers are very strict when it comes to retiring jerseys… but Coop was an important piece for FIVE championships, he’s one of the greatest 6th men ever, one of the GOAT perimeter defenders, 8x all-defensive (like you’ve said), won DPOY, at some point was running the offense when Magic went to the bench to get some rest, could pass the ball, he hustled all out, high energy great athlete, could shoot and developed into a very good spot-up 3pt shooter (without coming up in 3pt era), made some great clutch plays time and time again, spent his entire career (12 years) on the Lakers…………

Cooper wasn't no pushover even at 41, there are many KZread clips of Michael Cooper going up against all the greats(Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dr. J., any and every position other than Center Coop could guard. When he says he put it on Kobe he means it and when Jerry West said~"That's the One!"~everyone knew they had their next Great One in Kobe Bryant(RIP)little brother!!!

I can’t recall who the player was but a Hornets player says he was at one end of the court shooting around and Kobe was at the other on an afternoon leading up to the game. He says Kobe tells an arena employee that the basketball rim is off center, too low, or high. He says they measured it and sure enough it was. They asked Kobe how’d he know and he told them he was missing shots from spots on the floor that he don’t miss during warmups.

That’s fucking unheard of. I loved watching Cooper battle Larry and Jordan who both respected Coop. One of the OG 3&D guys and one of the best to do it!
