You've got to love Jerry, for all his faults. His devotion to this was very touching.

I can't think about any specific "fault" I just think that he was a human being just like you and me. He was allowed to make mistakes! He devoted his life to others (the public and the kids with the telethon). I see mainly good in him rather then "bad". America loves to hate on him! I don't get it! LOL

He was an untalented scumbag. Not funny at all, just loud and annoying.
Sinatra and Butera on the same stage was something magical! Two Italians rubbing off on each other!
Love Buddy Rich anytime, but you simply cannot top Mr. Sinatra.
In his life, Frank Sinatra helped raise over $1 billion for various charities.
At least MDA honors Jerry with these telethon videos. I'm not sure what happened in 2010 between MDA and Lewis but he should have been able to still work in some association and capacity, not be unceremoniously fired after over 60 years of freaking dedication and raising a few billion bucks.
Sinatra's performance was the best overall here. Hands down people!

Very very nice to see can't wait for the next video
Last of the humanitarians
Any idea what the tune was that Buddy and the band played, can't remember hearing it before on record or in concert. Really roaring chart, great playing by the band and of course Buddy. That Killer Force band was Buddy's favorite i think.

I’ll give Jerry this… Like style of upfront persuasion. He should have got Elvis on the show! The ratings would have hit the roof!
No Jerry, No Telethon!!!!
I sang with the group THE ESTABLISHMENT in the summer of 1976 where we opened and sang backups for PERRY COMO for 9 weeks...We did this telethon...Do U know of any footage of PERRY'S performance??? We did a alte nite/ early morning shot after our second show...

Where are the cures
I like the decades open as well and if lou brown wasn't there jack eglash was there for the timps
Jerry was so hopped up on pills, to him, his singing sounded great. To everyone else it makes the ears bleed
Lotta beards on Buddys band lol
Jerry was very sick this episode He was on pain pills. for his back and after rehab he said he didn't remember several episodes.
I don’t know what Chicago station this is out of only it was before WGN-TV ch 9 took over 3 years later.

It was channel WFLD channel 32. Held at the Marina Towers. Located 1 block West of where Trump Tower is today. I worked that telethon and video recorded it too.

Frank didn't know Stargazer very well, did he?
Haha I somehow had an idea that Jerry Lewis couldn't sing.

TheLAKERSareGodsTeam He often sang in his comic high-pitched voice, but he was quite good when he performed with what Dean always called his ‘legitimate voice’
The Jerry Lewis telethon could of gone on until now if the MDA would not have fired Jerry Lewis big mistake Jerry Lewis would have done his last telethon in 2012 and the next year Tom Bergeron would have became the host of the telethon and number two keep it at 21 hours with station breaks that would have kept it going to now and this year's telethon would be titled the Jerry Lewis Memorial telethon starting this year and every after till the end of time.

Eric Purkey .... Or at least until they find a cure, which is/was really the whole reason for the Telethon in the first place.

But MDA finally realized that with hundreds of other channels and streaming outlets like KZread, Netflix, etc. already at our disposal, 21 hours for a telethon would be so 1970’s (when it was just ABC, NBC, CBS, and one or two independent stations). No wonder why the telethon was downsized to six hours in 2011 and finally two hours from 2012-14 (as the Show of Strength).
