I think the judges took into account of Hong's size. Hong won the fight, but it reminds of when Kramer from Seinfeld said he was the best student in his karate class although he just started taking it. Elaine then found out that Kramer was beating up Grade schoolers. Hong needs to be more active, when people expect much more from him.

@frenchkids he keeps his distance for a reason. choi has reach advantage if he lets le banner in the inside his advantage would be neutralized. being too aggressive would've resulted in le banner getting on the inside and past man choi's power arc, and using this to his advantage which would result in a huge loss of points or even a knockout. I think le banner actually does this in the second part. this is why you see man choi keeping his distance with jabs and push kicks

As far as Choi goes.. I don't agree he can be trained to be "untouchable." You just can't teach athletic ability... To me he looks like another huge guy who wouldn't be near the K1 if he wasn't freakishly tall.

Same applies to, say for instance, Bob Sapp, who, btw the way is almost as big (and probably heavier) and got quite a nice beating from Choi.

yea choi is actually not a bad fighter he just need to get use to his own height and use it better and he has pretty good skills for someone his height but i think he is just like most asian big man atlantes they are kinda soft like yao for example

I think Hong man choi needs to step away from being a linear fighter he goes backwards and forwards but doesn't really attack from the sides and hes a bit slow, if he was as fast as brock lesnar then yes he would be very very dangerous opponent.

if choi had been too aggressive, the fight would have ended with choi knocked out. there is one hole in choi's game, and thats his lack of kick checks and leg kicks which led to the weakening of his defenses as the fight went on. either way, although his game plan kept him from getting dominated, choi hong man was fucked either way, he didn't have the speed to deal with le banner.
