I had the privilege of meeting Jennifer at a guitar clinic. She said she had touring and recording obligations that she had to fulfill thus she was unable to tour with MJ. Basically she said "no" to one of the biggest touring acts in the world. I also recall that she said her dream gig was "to be rhythm guitar player for Jeff Beck" ....well 10 years after the fact...guess what!!

The thing on top of the neck is for finger tapping to dampen open strings..... she is a master at finger tapping. I give her much respect. she has really worked hard to get where she is she puts most guys under the table technically. Kudos Jennifer! (saw her play with Jeff Beck ) I've been Playing for over 40 years I know how much time goes into developing this caliper of playing.
