Rob wanted to take advantage of the time with Jeff and ask him questions he has been thinking of for years. How Survivor embraced all the change that came with 2020, the show being postponed, and the creative reset for the Survivor production team. What Survivor 50 will look like, and if there will be another all-winners season for Survivor 50, which is rapidly approaching. How Survivor has changed in the Survivor “New Era,” and how being a Survivor fan is almost a prerequisite for getting cast on Survivor today.

Jeffs passion is so obvious and heartening. He loves the show just as much as we do and wants it to be successful. Congrats on this interview, Rob and on on 5000 episodes! Can't wait for Wednesday!
Rob and Jeff are two sides of the same coin. Watching them interact is like watching Batman and Superman; sometimes they fight, sometimes they disagree, but they both work together (either directly or from afar) toward a common goal: providing the best possible content for this show we all love so much.

I love this interview so much. There is just so much passion from both Rob and Jeff about the game. It's why Survivor still works: the creators and fans still care after 45 seasons!

It's odd but this interview had me in my emotions. I felt like a proud parent watching their kid just kill it at their talent show.

Congrats!!! I am a huge fan of RHAP and I couldn't be happier to see your success!! To see your podcast referenced by the media, recent interviews with Boston Rob and Jeff Probst! And just all the big brother and survivor players showing their support by being on the show is fantastic! I just really love the community you have built! And i love the talent you have on your team and i love your insight, humor and kindness you display! This podcast has really improved my experiences watching big brother and survivor.. like you said in this interview. It used to be you watch the episode and its over. And now it is so much more. You have done so much for reality tv!
I have my issues with the modern era, but it’s refreshing to hear how self-aware Jeff is. Makes it sort of easier knowing that it’s conscious decisions that are being made with the best intentions.
As much as I disagree with where Survivor is going and miss many elements of old Survivor, it is great to see how much Jeff cares for the show. Great interview Rob and congrats on 5000 eps of RHAP.

Jeff is such a great host. You can see the excitement in his eyes. That’s not something you can fake. Rob is also a phenomenal host. I’m not a regular listener, but appreciate an episode every now and then. What a great interview.

Great interview Rob! Jeff Probst is a class act, he truly does love the show and he does it all for the fans. It’s so apparent in this interview that Jeff’s goal is to make a fun and exciting television show for us, and he really has done that.
Such a great interview. It occurs to me that Survivor has gone from “What will people be willing to do for a million dollars?” to an experience that is more meaningful than the million dollars. I have watched every episode and absolutely love seeing the evolution. 💜

"I called TPTB at CBS & said “I wanna make history” and that's exactly what this is." Congrats on 5K! 💙 GREAT questions, off the bat! Rob, you're very smart and a very good interviewer. You can tell your questions were extremely thoughtful. There were questions Jeff has never been asked! LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF THIS INTERVIEW! 💙💙💙 "Winners at War" was like Survivor's "Endgame." My whole family (mom, dad, & kids) has watched "Survivor" since season 7. I had "Survivor: All Stars" (Season 8) on DVD. I took pictures of the finale on my TV with a "Kodak" I dreamed of visiting Panama just because All Stars was filmed there. Yes, Jeff! As long as you like it that's all that matters. ❤ I want to meet Jeff, but I will NEVER play "Survivor," because I HATE the outdoors! 90 minute "Survivor" is PEAK! SO EXCITED it's back! You get to know players better. I can't forget Jake's "weight story" that only exists in a 90-minute format. ❤ LOVE that Jeff LOVES the audience! ❤ "They're loyal." ❤ Certain "Survivor" moments live rent-free in my head. ❤ "Survivor" 50: 2x as many players as normal like "The Hunger Games." LOVE that "Survivor" is still SHOCKING 20+ years later! ❤ "Make it impossible for the person who could win to win." THAT'S INTERESTING!!!!! ❤❤❤ SO EXCITED for S46!!! Reality TV is ON POINT right now!!! ❤❤❤ Thank you for all of this! ❤

Happy 5k Rob! I've been listening to RHAP for around a decade now, and it is just incredible to watch how multifaceted and creative the network has become. Thank you to you and the great RHAP family for making such quality content over the years. Someday soon I hope to be able to come to a live event and put a live face to the voices through all hours and hours of listening.
This made me weirdly emotional. Congrats Rob on 5,000 episodes and landing Jeff for what was truly a great interview. You got Jeff to talk about almost every major critique of the modern show without pointing the finger at him. And his answers all were great and made sense. I hope to contribute to see Jeff adapt and I would like to see his edge come back; like being harder on quitters! This has me very excited for the future of the show

Always love how much appreciation Jeff has for Survivor as a game and a piece of media. The love the production crew puts into each season is by far the best part of the show, regardless of whether the final product is great or not. Jeff is right, there are so many other shows that aren’t as ambitious about their production and get complacent (*cough cough* Big Brother *cough cough*) so can’t commend them enough that 46 seasons in, the production is still striving to make the best show they can.

Season40 was kind of a natural end to my survivor obsession, as it was already waning. However, couldn't help give this a listen. Congrats on 5k. I genuinely remember in jan/feb of 2020, you posted on facebook about you and Nicole doing a recap of the HvV premiere. The post has 3 likes, I was the 4th 🤣 Instantly hooked and Ive undoubtedly spent 10k+ hours listening and relistening to so many episodes. Gunna miss so many as its been years, but thanks rob, nicole, fishbach, shannon, mike bloooooooooom, Taran, Brent, Alex, Melissa, Jordan Parhar and SOOOO many more, not to mention the 100s of guests, for helping me through some dark times in the mid 2010s. Heres to 5k more!

Rob this is so amazing and I know you are beyond freakin' out... after all these yrs Survivor is still one of my favorites... loved hearing Jeff talk about his job and show... love seeing him still so excited about the beginning to where we are now with the show... can't wait for the new season to start... hahahahahaha love that he said he's gonna bring back a little of his edge by stickin a knife in the bag of rice... lol I would love to see Jeff play a bit of the game like set up camp... light a fire... survive on a bit of rice and play some of the games... just to see him do it... 😆 Oh Rob was so excited to watch this that I forgot to tell you and your team congrats on your 5000th episode... way to go everyone much l.o.v.e.
So very cool. Congratulations! I'm watching this a few hours before the new season begins. Am I excited? YES. And why am I excited? Some have had the same experience that I have had. And this ages me, but I watched the very first episode on the very first season. And I KNEW the show was a winner. I've watched every season and every episode of every year. I'm not obsessed like Rob. I don't have a perfect recall memory of every person on every show or season. But I have loved every season. Even the seasons that weren't really popular. I love it so much that I wish I could work on the show. The creative side. I have so many fun ideas that would work and be memorable. I do plan on sending on my ideas for the 50th show. And I have to send them now. Because they do plan ahead. And the 50th season has to be so Very special and Unique. I also would like to record my voice for the opening native song and "scream". Mostly they have men singing the theme. I can dream. Thank you Rob for making the special effort to get Jeff on your podcast. Rob you did a great interview. And Jeff even observed you had put a lot of effort into your questions. And you asked Jeff a question he had never been asked before. Again, way cool. Please thank Jeff for us.
