OK - my hot fire take. Making fire wouldn't have helped Charlie -- but it DID help Kenzie. Not because it's a "move," but it's a part of her narrative. Prior to the challenge, I said that if Kenzie won fire, it would cement her underdog story -- always fighting from the beginning. Kenzie took it one part further, and added that she started the game without fire. And if Maria is to be believed, firemaking did influence her vote. I think with more social-game emotional juries like this one, narrative is really starting to matter. With such a close social game, Kenzie had the best story. So my take is that Charlie should have done fire. Not to deny Kenzie the "move," but to stop her from getting that satisfying ending to her story. (Also, glad to see Liz getting the credit she deserves. Too many people see the Kenzie & Ben interviews and go 'of course they're saying nice things about her, they're friends!' Consider, perhaps, that people are being... honest? I'm certain the folks who were there have a much better take on Liz' game than those of us at home.)
The best part about this podcast was all the Wendell shade from Chappell. It’s deserved too IMO.
I also loved Liz's decision to help Kenzie -> it was BOLD! It accomplished her goal. Like y'all said, Survivor is not a game of challenges. Being a 'challenge beast' does not guarantee you safety. I'm really excited to see how this opens up the game for future players. We've seen folks talk about word puzzles before or look at someone else's progress... but this level of assistance is new and creates a really cool new dynamic for folks to play with.

58:36 I don’t listen to Pod Save America, but I did some digging and it seems like Jon Lovett’s last episode came out on May 7th. Now idk if they record the same day or the day before, but it’s possible 47 saw Venus’s episode, which aired on May 8th. The wiki says filming began on May 13th. If the last episode they saw was Tiffany’s then they might not be thinking about the idol curse, but if they saw Venus’s it’ll definitely be front of mind. 2 idols in a row is kind of funny, 3 in a row is insane. And they definitely don’t know about 4 in a row.
Hopefully episode 6 gives us answers on what the hell happened this week but if it doesn’t then imma need Chappell to go ahead and shoot Wendell that text because I am CONFUSION
56:53 I think Charlie did about as well as you could merging the social game and the strategic game. He had good relationships with pretty much everyone in the game. Really the whole final 3 was made up of the players most liked by their castmates. Kenzie just had an even better social game than Charlie’s, but he certainly wasn’t lacking.
55:22 Really? Because the biggest takeaway I’ve seen is that Kenzie is absolutely a deserving winner, but Maria’s vote (or at least her explanations for it) makes zero sense. Like if you swap Maria out with any of the three Charlie voters I think there would be way less discourse about it. Yeah there’d be some, that always happens when a strategic player loses to a social player. But it’s the Maria part that’s caused the most discourse.
53:41 I don’t think those two ideas are competing at all. In 45 sticking with your tight ally helps your game. Dee helped save Julie and won. Austin could have saved Drew at final 6, didn’t, and lost. In 46 we saw turning on your number 1 ally wrecks your game, and can get you immediately targeted/voted out. Tevin targeted Soda because she ditched Venus, her perceived number 1, and he didn’t feel like he could trust someone like that. Then Tevin targeted Soda super early, and was next out. Meanwhile Kenzie almost turned on Tiffany, changed her mind, which led to Maria being the target and Kenzie staying under the radar, and ultimately winning the game. Granted that’s more of a lesson for 48, as the last episode 47 saw was probably Tiffany’s, *maybe* Venus’s. Jon Lovett’s last episode of Pod Save America was May 7th, and Venus’s boot episode was May 8th.

I am so glad that Kaitlyn brought up the bullying. I was pretty much feeling like just skipping this season after that episode.
Kaoh Rong is like the most B grade season of the show. It does all the things of a solid season, doesnt rly have any huge low points, and has okay heroes and villains. It’s just like if you took the perfect season of survivor and hired some people off the street to reenact it.
I’m happy Kenzie won and she played an amazing game but Charlie was a great competitor as well. Shame he got taken out by Maria being bitter in the end. I lost a lot of respect for her in those moments.

Justin, Joe, CJ, Jason voted for Teck, Teck/Wendell voted for Jason, Reza voted for Paola, and Day, Jill, and Paolo voted for Justin. I think if there was a scene of Wendell gathering ppl together to vote all the same way, they would've showed it. He didn't and it goes to show you his alliance isn''t together as it seems.
You know the next theme for survivor should be. Survivor the next generation. where kids of older survivor, there's should be 100's of contestant reproducing by now. however these contestants r going to be young tho. but that would be so interesting.

That spelling bee is one reason why my caption is always on...visual learner to the max. I once read, "To be continued..." on the screen simply from hearing a narrator say it, my Mother said "That's not what that says"... I'm still confused to why she said that (I was like 7-8).
Real World Hawaii was the first "Real World" I watched from premiere to end. It's officially when I went from Nick-Disney to MTV, etc.😄 Teck is a reality TV legend, truly. When his team was shouting, "He's throwing the game," I was confused, but then, given the last two episodes, I was doubting everything! Could Teck and Wendell be so aligned that they planned that... The producers would have caught that.
So this is the third correct winner pick on issa look after Maryanne in 42 and Tony in WAW. This is amazing. Brice also picked Cassidy in 43 and Gavin in EOE and both ended up in second place. And even here he picks Ben for a man slot just for fun, and Ben got to the end also. Crazy.

They’ve had similar challenges in both the final five of One World and the final 4 immunity in Blood vs Water. Kim had to count the pieces in the puzzle, the words/letters? in the puzzle, and the skulls on the puzzle to get the combination lock. The tricky thing there was that one of the skulls was a cow skull while the rest were human skulls. In BvW, Tyson had to count the pieces, words/letters, and stairs on the giant water slide.
In my opinion Charlie lost funnily enough because his game was a different version of risk vs reward. He had a game that was pretty likely to get him to the final 3, but the risk was in not being able to get credit for what were supposed to be his big moves - the Q and Maria boots. Everyone already wanted Q and Maria out by the time he was ready to take those shots, so he had nothing to flash to the jury. The risk is that maybe Maria wins multiple consecutive immunities and you can never lead the charge to get her out. Sure his game was very intentional and got him to the end, but getting to the end isn’t enough when you have two people sitting next to you that can claim the same thing.
If his final tribal had been better and Kenzie’s had been worse, the result may have been different, but Charlie felt robotic and calculated in his answers while Kenzie seemed more open and less calculated and just more likable while still delivering strong answers.
I love Kenzies smile, I’m happy for her. Didn’t much care for Maria all along, but when she didn’t give Liz a meal… I saw ugliness, I could not unsee.
For me the best part of Season 46 was Venus. I was so disappointed when she got voted off. I was screaming "play the idol!" at my TV. 🤣
Being able to make the merge while NEVER surviving a tribal counsel should not be legal.

As much as I love the show, this episode is kinda stale for me as there's not that much mess or strat talk or the thing I wish they do is like the tribal talk before the votes so we can get their minset/ perspective

Venus has to be one of the worst players in Survivor history. Her instincts and ability to read the room were absolutely horrible. She tried to do boss things without the ability to do boss things.
I don’t think Liz should have been allowed to leave her lane and go into Kenzie’s lane to get her board to help her count holes. If that is okay, then it means it would also be ok to go into Maria’s lane to get her board and keep her from counting holes. You can look, you can verbally help, but YOU CANNOT TOUCH YOUR OPPONENTS EQUIPMENT!

Charlie should have won. He played the best game in a cast full of people exhibiting narcissistic bully behavior. Unfortunately, those people comprised the jury. Charlie, you are the winner of a million hearts. You should be proud!
