2:16 I think the reason for that is Disney want a focus on the NEW Characters, not the Legacy Characters, remember when Luke Skywalker showed up in Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian? ALL the fans (well most of them) went nuts, all excited, overjoyed even seeing that younger version of him again, because that's really what starwars fans wanted, atleast in one flashback and they never got that. This made the fans more focused on whether Luke will be explored further with Grogu; then Disney quickly nipped that in the bud. I think that's basically why Disney were not literally shouting at the rooftops, they're wary about leading the "Tron Fans" on, building them up in any way possible, where they could end up believing Kevin Flynn has somekind of huge focus, then becoming massively let down when that is not the case.

Very exciting. Bruce Boxleitner has to be in it... you can't have a Tron movie without Tron.

This is Disney, unfortunately. They think having a Captain America show without Captain America or a Black Panther movie without Black Panther is a great idea.

@@kgjung2310 You picked two really bad examples. Disney did the right thing in both cases. In the case of Falcon, he was supposed to become the new Captain America. In the case of Black Panther, the actor DIED. But, they have no excuse to ignore Bruce Boxleitner when he has said over and over he wants to be part of Tron 3.

@@serqetry There was no reason to make Black Falcon Captain America other than ESG points, period. Bucky was clearly meant to be Captain America. If not, we should have gotten a Black Falcon movie just like we got a Iron Man movie. If they really wanted to make him Captain America, they can do it that way and build the character up to that role. Black Panther could have simply be recast. In fact, that's what the original actor wanted. He never wanted the character to be retired simply because he died. But again, Disney wanted to up their Blackrock score above making good productions and exploit an actor's death. So again, Disney going to be Disney. No reason to give them the benefit of the doubt whatsoever.

With Jeff officially back, this is genuinely such a good opportunity to bring back Gareth and Olivia! If the movie is to focus more on the real world (with Ares crossing over), finding Sam and Quora in the real world would be the perfect storyline!

OK, I'm re-interested again.

I hope Garrett Hedland and Olivia Wilde are both in it,along with Bruce Boxleitner and Cillian Murphy.

I don't mind CGI sets in Tron, it is after all taking place inside a simulation/digital world.

Plot twist - Bridges is back to play another version of Clu. Ares somehow infiltrates the Grid. Clu, still programmed to create the "perfect system", sees Ares as an anomoly and actually takes up the role of good guy (after being the villain in Legacy) to battle him.

Excellent brake down ! I enjoyed your synapsis of the actors and the screenplay! This should be an exciting movie to expand the Tron "Universe"

Tron III, Flynn lives!

I see Flynn returning as a kind of digital "Force Ghost"...Flynn made the Grid, he IS the Grid...his spirit will live on in his creation...

It could be back in the Encom computer from the first movie, but 40 years later (e.g. new more powerful hardware, expanded memory capacity, etc.), not the isolated computer hidden in the back of Flynn's arcade where the action from the second movie took place. There's no reason it has to be in the arcade again. By putting it in a bigger computer, that's networked with other computers, they would open up a broader range of story possibilities. Flynn died in the computer in the arcade at the end of Legacy, imho, but he created all kinds of programs during his life, so any of them might bear his likeness, and these programs could be in many computers. There are many directions they could take this. I hope they do something that will honor stylistic aspects of the 1982 movie that were changed in Legacy. I'm excited to see where they go with it. A "world inside a computer" just has a lot of room for different interpretations, adventures, etc...

We saw him "explode", but there is the possibility that either he coalesced back into one Flynn/Clue entity. Or he is now like an unseen "force" in the world of The Grid. I would wonder how The Grid would interact with The Web. A war between the two would either be cool or cringe depending on how they interpret it.

I'm scared. The way Hollywood/Disney takes classic IPs and makes them unrecognizable and unwatchable is just to be expected now. I'd love a third Tron if it is one right ... but I'm not confident of that, Edit: Oh no! Weirdo Leto? I'm out.

I think the name ares is a clue , Greek mythology, and Flynn was god on the grid , they are usually on opposite sides.

So, if Jeff is coming back and CLU is gone, how does Leto's character suddenly show up? The grid is a standalone system that Sam wears around his neck now, according to the end of Tron: Legacy. I'm not thrilled that Leto is heading this project because he's not known to be a good lead for tentpole movies. Also, if Sam and Quara are not returning, then what's the point of telling the story. This feels like another cash grab by Disney.

My guess on how he returns is a new digital world, probably created by the Dillingers! Leto is a wildcard, but since he is a Tron fan and has been publically helping the project, I'm hopeful About Gareth and Olivia, it's unfortunate that there's no word on their return yet, we can always hope that Jeff's involvement does something to get them onboard. A cash-grab...I don't think so. It's been quite the journey to get this movie made and it's a passion project for a lot of the people involved, so I'm optimistic

I hope Bruce Boxleitner is in this film. Also, I hope Disney does not preach agendas or politics this film, and actually makes the movie entertaining. Enough of this agenda stuff and let's have a great script with a great story. One last thought. What about Sam Flynn and Cora from the last movie? That story arc was not finished yet. Wouldn't it be great if the MCP somehow was still around, and not destroyed like everyone thought. It's almost finished filming now and will be out in 2025 so I guess we all will have to wait and see how this goes. Jared Leto is a good actor so that is a positive from the beginning and with Jeff Bridges coming back as well, so I am trying to remain optimistic.

What's interesting about the Tron movies is how Tron isn't the main character in the first two and most likely won't be the main character in the third installment either.

Please God don’t let Disney corp screw this up! I mean we all know they will but it’s just we have waited so so very long for this trilogy finale. TRON fights for the USERS! Not the MCP. Or the Virus that is Disney. End of line.

How hard would it be to bring back Flynn? What kind of computer professional doesn't keep backups?

Considering how everything in this universe is 'digital' it's not hard to conceive of old characters returning. I like the notion of old characters creating a bridge from the old to the new. The only real problem is the Disney penchant for destroying an IP for a political message.

I'm most worried about who is going to score the movie now since Daft Punk broke up. My nomination would be for Deadmau5 to score it

This is great news, i kept warning that if *Tron: Ares* does not have any legacy characters appearing it will be a big failure. I imagine Kevin Flynn in this new Ares movie will have Ascended to a kind of position alot like the Master Control Program; only he's not ruling over everyone, but more like let's say the Oracle from the Matrix movies. I just really hope they don't go and *subvert* his character in this Tron: Ares and make it where he's like somekind of mixed up combination of himself and his CLU creation; OR even where it is Kevin Flynn who is responsible for sending the Ares program out to somehow merge beings consciousness with the Isos or something. Sounds crazy i know but you can never be too sure with Disney and this sequel doesn't have Joseph Kosinski onboard.

I hope we get another Daft Punk soundtrack.

I am sure I am a minority when I say I loved Tron AND Tron: Legacy. Both films were miles ahead of their time. I am excited for Tr3n and the return to the grid. I am glad they are doing practical sets and keeping the AI to a minimum. To much CGI nowadays and not enough practical effects.

Still need Bruce, and the movie has to show us what happened with Sam and Quorra and her effect on the real world. How did our world change? They can't act like that key component didn't happen.

As a die hard fan of TRON, i was dissapointed the way tron 2 was done... which is funny since the first movie was mostly all done with rendering 3D. but todays tech has lost the charm of the way a computer world would look like.. Jeff bridges, Bruce Boxleitner and Cindy made this possible too I've made games, electronics around tron, i love this... Tron 2 just felt like... some reason a money grab :/ and i feel dirty saying that. Tron 3 NEEDS to return to the charm of the 80s some how, Im not a movie writer or a special effects artist. what do i know.. but please.... Tron 3 needs to have a solid story... Tron 1.. was simple... but pretty much VERY relevent still today!!

I know they split up, but if Daft Punk doesn't come back just to score Tron 3, there's no hope it will ever live up to Tron Legacy

Disney, please for the love of God, don't fk this up.

If Jeff Bridges back then hopefully everybody will be back from legacy will be back then it's going to be a good movie. Otherwise if they don't bring the rest back from legacy then to me this is going to suck. I wish it not to but if don't then it is what it is. Javis was gone in Lagacy/Caster/side kick ??/but Bruce needs to be back as well-I thought Evan Peters could of been Ram-but Rambus-son of Ram. Well if they come back greeting's program if not End of Line-and will be De-resoluted.

Bruce has said that he wants Nothing to do with the franchise after the Third film was delayed the First time. To have Tron Resurrected to deal with Ares is Not going to happen also. The new cast was interjected to bring life to a new generation One that's Not caught up in the old cast. Disney is banking on this to pull in new younger audiences. After all that's what Disney has been doing, Ultimately failing, at for the last few years. To bring younger people to the movies.

I feel like Ares is a 'Dillinger' program thats been told his whole life about the enemy 'Encom', but doesn't really believe the stories, and leaves his grid to enter the real world, in order to discover the truth for himself, once and for all. Problem is, he's followed out of the grid by other fellow programs that DO believe Encom is bad, so Ares (after discovering the truth) ends up having to defend Encom, and the 'users' who work there, against programs he once called friends.

I hope this isn’t a Disney movie. Disney has lost its way.

First of all, with Leto in it, it will most likely be great (seriously -- how cool was he in Blade Runner 2049? VERY COOL!). Legacy is sort of un-watchable for me as Garrett Hedlund has about as much on-screen charisma as a boiled potato that has been sitting in the back of your frig for a month. Thanks fucking GOD he's not in Ares. With Bridges at least doing a cameo scene or two, that's going to be a lot of fun. My only reservation is Gillian Anderson being in it. She's awful. GODAWFUL. She sucks the life out of everything she's been in since X-Files. Oh and yeah, sure... they need to throw Boxleitner a bone. By the way -- you should train your text-to-speech ai how to pronounce Boxleitner.

So? It's a Disney movie. We already know the story based on the cult's oppression pyramid.
