    This short documentary did not mention one key factor that hugely contributed to Amazon's success. Amazon's affiliate program, with it Amazon was able to put itself in front of millions of customers without spending a dime on advertising. Sure they paid commissions but after a sale was made, which was way better than paying up in front for ads and not knowing how many sales ads would generate. Brilliant if you ask me.

    Notice one thing in common with microsft and amazon how they got started? A few $100,000s...back in the 90's which is worth more today. Not demeaning that gates and bezos don't deserve their massive success (they also worked very hard) but the difference between them and other entrepreneurs that you have never heard of is that they didn't get that initial critical capital. Many other people even before them started PC companies/internet sales....except they didn't have the cash to explode.

  • @michaelb9940

    @michaelb9940

    4 жыл бұрын

    Not invented. A lot of its success happened organically. Amazon kept growing and there came a time that he saw the need to host its own servers and well the rest is history. For instance, if you start selling books and then realize that you need to in fact buy a warehouse to store those books and the need keeps growing, then you get that "aha moment" when you realize smaller "mom pops shops" needs a facility to store their product and you rent out a portion of your huge warehouse. It happened organically and much of Amazons success is due to AWS.

    This documentary feels like it was written years before it was placed on KZread. The most glaring omission is Amazon Web Services and its contribution to Amazon's bottom line. All this talk about razor thin margins, which was true for a long time, but is no longer true given the profit margins and growth that AWS provides. Maybe this fact wasn't abundantly true in 2014-15? AWS is what finally led me to invest in Amazon for the long term.

    Amazon is a cult. I live in Seattle and he has taken over swaths of land, gentrified the city and smaller towns, raised home prices, raised traffic levels and, has done nothing for our increasing homeless population. He does not have any charitable operations in place unless, he see's some sort of benefit. He does not pay pickers or delivery drivers, as much as they deserve. And now he is using third party stressed out drivers, that are to deliver pkgs in ONE day, that way he doesn't have to pay auto insurance or medical benefits. He's pretty much loathed here in Seattle. And Yes, he is all about world domination. He's outsmarted and out maneuvered everyone. Even the state or Washington by not having to pay taxes.

    Who here can say they have the confidence to be able to risk what essentially is their parents’ life savings to start a business. And who here can say they have the kind of parents who would believe and trust their son/daughter wholeheartedly. Cheers to Jeff Bezos. Cheers to all of those who leave the comfort of their 9to5 job to pursue their vision and execute like a mofo to make it a reality.

    It's 113 billion with a quick Google search keep in mind though his net worth is just a guess the Forbes list on all billionaires are just taking public information on stocks and other information so for all we know he could be worth 80 billion or 170 billion these are just best guesses.

    No profits means no Taxes to pay uncle sam! anyone who believes this guy has not made tons of profits is just dreaming! They make money on shipping, They wholesale at Bulk, The higher the inventory the more discounts on wholesale. They Retail from other vendors and take 15% percent off the top and u are telling me this company makes no profits lmao Ya right lol. No profits but this man is worth 18.1 Billion Dollars ok that makes sense lol. Even if they made 1 penny on each item they sold Do your Math 1 cent times 3 billion people they sell to a year lmao ok. Warren Buffet did this with Coca Cola and Became a very wealthy man making just one cent on 5 million Coca Colas sold daily!

    His networth is based on the strong ci market value of Amazon. They don’t make a profit because they reinvest in the company at such an extreme rate

    They make a profit but reinvest some of it and still keep some percentage of it for personal use etc.!!If there were no profits made he could not afford the overhead, staff, personel, etc. Business 101 = there is no way to keep any business running without any profits. U cannot reinvest all your capital and keep zero income for your personal. They are very smart at avoiding uncle sam and taking a loss. They must have some amazing accountants. Just think of it like this if u had to tax a Multi Billion Dollar a Year Business. What would be Uncle Sams Cut off that? Just like when u win the lottery u win 1 million but yet they take 600k right off the top lol
