A lot of intelligent men do, i just think its interesting that the wealthiest man today has touched on a point that one of the most intelligent minds to ever lived also addressed. It is a shame that he struggled. Though it is more of a shame if we do not learn from him.

You need to work in the warehouse breaking your back and now with lack of COVID-19 safety protocol . When you work for Amazon then tell people who great AMAZON is then!

So many people are quick to criticize Bezos... but what I wonder is how many of the very same people shop on Amazon & have a prime membership who wouldn't give it up to shop elsewhere. I'm not hating on the guy either but rather, have a lot of admiration for him.

  • @zicodoteth

Hey Mark, are you saying you stopped shopping on Amazon & use eBay exclusively because he became the world's richest man? Also, Bezos' plan is to reinvest into Blue Origin so that we can become a multi planetary species, as far as he claims, which is all one can go on. The point being, we & he might not ever really know the impact of what being able to do that means, but it sure is a better plan than what most humans are doing. Same thing applies to Elon Musk. The world's richest people didn't set out to become the world's richest people, they were just lucky to end up there. That comes with a level of responsibility you or I will never have to worry about. Happy shopping on eBay tho.

Well, I've seen people talk about this everywhere. No body is providing evidence to back up their statements though. Also, every time an organization or person becomes giant there will always be talk about them. Some accurate... some inaccurate. Like Bezo said, "If its true about you change, if its not true don't let it upset you." He also said, "If you're not prepared for that type of talk from people, you're company doesn't deserve to become big."

People love to compare Jeff Bezos to Elon Musk. When they do, they often point out the fact that Musk runs several companies while Bezos only runs one. That ignores the fact that Bezos successfully runs Amazon the ecommerce store, Amazon web services, Blue origin and to some extent the Washington Post. Very impressive guy!

" he worked hard for it." Of course he didn't. hE set up Amazon by bullying publishers into giving him all the info about their books and the cover images for free. He also forced them to give him rights to that info in perpetuity. Now that he's moved beyond books he gets all that info from manufacturers. And he employs people to do all the dirty work for him and he traats them like slaves.

I just found this video now (oops, I am late). I was doing research about "who owns the media". We should not have a world with such enormous equality (we should all be asking "how did we get here?". It is frightening how much power a handful of individuals now have. They can (and do!) take large chunks of profits ($billions) and invest in "philanthropy". For instance, lot of powerful people have created Foundations that serve a couple of purposes. First, their "projects" allow them to hang on to, and work with a lot of money that really is unpaid tax $, and secondly, it allows them to influence some area of particular interest. We are now in a dangerous situation where unelected people are shaping our institutions, our culture and our world... because they have the money (power) to do so. That being said, I cannot help but like Jeff Bezos from this (excellent) interview. What he said about "intuition" and "heart" blew me away. He is pointing out our humanity and the importance of those qualities, and whether consciously or not, he is talking about the soul. These are things that I am discussing in a book I am currently writing, and I believe that what he said is enormously important. I am surprised and impressed by this interview. It is actually is giving me a bit of hope, that not all powerful men become changed by money and power, and start developing a god complex, reducing other people to mere objects. Maybe not every person who achieves so much power has to lose (or sell) their soul along the way. I guess we can wait and see.
