I just finished a heater core replacement on my 1997 Grand Cherokee using the cheat method in the video. It is a time saver, does NOT compromise anything and easy to do. Instead of using JB weld or whatever is used in this video, I used a black commercial grade weather strip adhesive made by 3M that will bond the part that was cut out and looks almost invisible to the eye. This stuff is sticky and cures solid.
@Ajaxaxxess
Just wrapped this job up on my leaky heater core. This saved me so many hours, to seal up the cuts i just used ole mexican chrome tape :) Great write up man! TY

Thanks for posting this. I have been putting this job off because of the A/C issue so looks Iike this is worth a try. I think you did a good job with the video. And I hope you just ignore the morons that can't seem to grasp where this is helpful.

FYI I am not a keyboard jockey I don"t have much skill with computers, spelling, typing and proper names for a part of a vehicle. I am a Second generation mechanic. My father worked in heavy repair his whole life where I have learned from him and all the other old time mechanics through out my life. I am not school trained, everything that I know I have learned in the field from experience. my videos are just for information and are made in hopes of helping out only, you should do your own homework and only try to do things that you feel that you can complete.

I know this is an old video, but it just saved my a**. I was not about to take the entire air box out. Buddy came over with a 4" angle grinder and it worked like a charm. Just barely enough room for the new heater core to fit, but it worked and now I have heat again. October in Denver is getting pretty cold. Thanks a lot for the idea!

id use calking or liquid nails to put that back together, over time ive seen epoxy and glues fail when messing with cooling and heating systems. to many temp changes causes most stuff to fail.
