Jeep Avenger Petrol - Cheapest Jeep is Surprisingly BRILLIANT ! | 4K
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I recently spent a week with the Jeep Avenger petrol and it turned out to be a real surprise. The cheapest vehicle in the Jeep range had all the character you would expect from Jeep with a very frugal little petrol engine that still delivered a fun driving experience.

Brilliant little SUV and something different to all the usual SUV's you see on a daily basis.

I'm thinking about which car to buy and this is definitely one of the candidates. Your video has been very helpful. Cheers from Spain!
I think it's easy to forget how much good engineering is in a small modern petrol linked to a manual gearbox and at sensible money too. Cheap to run great to drive and probably with reasonable residuals too.
I really like the styling of the Avenger as I think it looks cool, functional and has some heritage nods to Jeeps past.

That's a troublesome engine
Great review Pete, I like the styling of this car. The one problem with all the Stellantis group cars is the design of that 1.2 litre engine, in that it has a wet belt oil pump, which can be troublesome or even catastrophic at higher mileages! So as a new car under warranty great, second hand with higher mileage is a risk. That aside it look a nice package from Jeep. 👍😎

Nope, chain driven oil pump. Wet cambelt. But they've modified the belts in more recent engines so the problems only affect older Puretech engines. Hybrids now have chains.

Great review. I admit I am not a fan of SUV’s. Driven Porsche Macan, Cayenne and Audi Q5, Q7 and BMW x5 and x 6 and just felt too big for my needs. Then drove one of these on hire and it kind of made sense.
I do like Jeep as a brand and these type of vehicles I think have a place for longer drives when you need to be at a destination and don't have the time for charging stops. I had to buy a similar vehicle as we found the range on our electric car in winter was not quite up to the job. A few more upgrades to that car and it could have been a contender to my current vehicle.
Very interesting car and figures. Isnt this exactly what we need as an alternative. Reasonably priced, well speed, character car that you can live with and grow to love. Seating position for you did look odd. Good for sit-up training when changing gear😅
Nice looking car, nice little thrum sound from the 3pot engine too, I like the look of this avenger but I am so used to SUVs, especially my jeep renegade and being in a nice raised driving position that I think this could be a little small and too low for my liking, really considering the jeep compass for next car, be plenty room for my mountain bike and camping gear and guitar in the compass, my renegade is great for fitting bike an camping gear etc in so compass is bigger so definitely will manage, great review Pete and Ur right about the jeep ownership thing, i love jeep 😁🏴👍

I have contract hired one of these for 12 months, its a fine little car, apart from the fueling. Have the throttle at say 80% then drop to 50% and the fuel cuts to zero before coming back in. Causes a jerk. No doubt related to emissions I'd think? The speedo btw is very accurate reading only 1 mph over unlike a lot of cars that are up to 10% over reading
Each to their own, Pete. Not a huge fan of the Jeep range, but looks like a tidy little motor.

Another great review, first Jeep I’ve liked. Too small in the back for us though. I wonder what the boys in blue would think about overtaking on the left on a dual carriageway with adaptive cruise control. I do it myself without a thought, but the clip of you talking about adaptive cruise whilst undertaking made me think. Not exactly slow moving traffic….
For a relatively small engine in a relatively boxy large/ medium size car 46 mpg is pretty good…space in back seats though not brill, my 1.2 Dacia does about the same
I've never driven one but it looks like a very likeable car with a bit of character. The e-hybrid version might be the sweet spot of the range though in terms of cost vs performance vs economy.

Hello Peter! A good review of a car that is useful and quite good for most people. It is not bad and I saw a new black one just this afternoon. Now you mention the Jeep ownership experience BUT I bought a Jeep and nothing like that happened. I had expected more involvement but that was a few years ago. I trust the dreadful build and reliability problems are behind them but I’m not sure I could ever trust one again. It is a fair car..it does a good job….a Dacia is cheaper so this is FatFace compared to Primark….interesting, well priced and cheap to run…I’m not buying one though! 🧐🧐😀😀😀

Given its not exactly aero focused i think 45mpg is really good. If you just want to get about 100hp is plenty. I bought a Hyundai Bayon which is 1.0 litre 100hp with mild 48v hybrid. Its more than enough even when loaded with adult passengers. I easi.y get 50mpg and nearly 60mpg on a steady run.

Hi Ped, an interesting review of another more affordable car. Can suggest unless I missed it you should mention this is front wheel drive car and not a 4x4 and it is based on a Stellantist platform used for many other vehicles in the group. It certainly looked a good use of the platform.

Not a bad little car and really like the styling and the little nods to it’s heritage ❤ dinosaur fuel isn’t so bad and if the government put more effort into sorting out the logistic companies effects on the planet etc rather than the minuscule journeys most of us make then a mixture of dinosaur fuel and electric seems to me to be the perfect balance rather than obliterating the good old faithful ICE!
Excellent review as always. I think this is the same platform as the Alfa Tonale. Why can't Alfa put a petrol engine and manual gearbox in its cars? A 1.2 litre engine and 100bhp is pathetic.
I’m impressed that it’s managed to feel uniquely Jeep whilst sharing the same platform as other Stellantis vehicles which I wouldn’t even consider. Have Alfa done the same with Junior / Milano I wonder 🤔

I brought my petrol Jeep Avenger in Italy last November and have just completed a 3360 km journey to the UK and back going over two mountain passes in Switzerland and through France to the UK and back to Italy via France and Lugano (CH). In all I’ve completed 6450kms and the 1.2 Jeep Avenger never missed a beat. Yesterday I ordered the new Jeep Avenger e-hybrid with a delivery date August/September,main reason is I want the automatic and will feel happier with the the timing chain even if Jeep have said with proper maintenance using the correct oil there wouldn’t be a problem with the timing belt. We had no problem with the journey travelling just over 700kms in a day but there was just the two of us and luggage. Looking forward to the arrival of the e-hybrid..

Brilliant review as always & kinda makes you think if you don't want bags of performance but want good mpg in something that's not too big for the UK roads why on earth would you buy an electric SUV which are usually far too large & expensive. Just how many years of ownership would it take before you started to see any gains in going electric when factoring in the cost. With most electric SUVs costing 40k upwards that £15,000+ saving is an awful lot of petrol , probably 10 years worth for the average motorist before you see any gains.

You don't have to say goodye to diesels. They're still making them. It's just that for some bizarre reason in the uk less people are buying them. Many think they are helping the planet buying a petrol hybrid but are then using more fuel when they don't plug in.
Good review. It seems a decent suv, but think I'd prefer a bigger engine. As far as dogs go, mine never go in the boot, they travel on the back seat, with seat belts, where they're safer in the event of a rear end shunt. ;)

Weird seeing a Jeep that we won't get in the USA... This is actually smaller than the Jeep Renegade that we do get. While many of Jeep's crossovers really divide enthusiasts here in the states, the truth is Jeep has figured out how to make all of their cars genuinely off-road capable. Sure, their smaller cars aren't as capable as a Wrangler or Grand Cherokee, but they really punch above their weight class.
Good looking SUV, prices very reasonable, this will sell, especially the PETROL version. Just have reservations about quality and reliability? Where is it made? Performance adequate for most people and this type of car.

Did you miss the little Jeep icon in the rear tail lights (see 4:09)? Watching your driving/seat position you have the seat reclined a bit but then you lean forward. For improved driving posture bring the seat more upright and rest against it rather than lean forward. There’s a huge gap from halfway up your back to your shoulders where you’re totally unsupported. I see you did improve the upright a little. To know the right position for the steering wheel you should extend your right arm straight with shoulders back in the chair and your wrist should rest on the top of the wheel with your hand falling over and drooping towards the binnacle. If not - you’re too far or too close to the wheel regardless of where your legs are.
