That’s actually a good idea. If they brought Dacascos back they can bring this guy. It’s nice because these guys were so popular in the 90’s as was martial art films, so it’s a chance to give it more of a heartbeat in the mainstream media.

Just wished he gave Stallone a better fight in Expendables 2, there was so much potential but was executed poorly

After watching blood sport as a kid , a week later I joined a karate club. Until today JCVD keeps inspiring me. He’s charisma, personality, fight skills are one of a kind.

Fight skills? Flexing for the camera is one thing. Fighting is totally different. As a teenager I too thought that if you can kick as perfect as JVCD does, that you will be unbeatable in the ring, but in reality, it doesn't work like that. Some guys are great doing kata or other forms, but they suck in sparring. Others can kick ass in sparring but when it comes to actually perform in competition, they suck too. It's this rare breed of humans who can kick ass for real. JCVD is not one of them. Steven Seagal is not one of them. UFC is full of those hard core killers.

Hahahaaaa.......same here dude!! I was about 9-10 years old in my home country Romania and I got caught by my father copying Van Damme’s training scenes in the movie Kickboxer in the living room lol, and when I came to America in 2000 at the age of 12, literally 2 weeks later after just arriving in the United States, my father enrolled my ass in a Shotokan Karate School up in Astoria Queens in New York and in 4 years I got my “black belt”. Heck yeah... I’m damn proud of it too!! In High School I was sort of a loner and kept quiet and to myself cuz of the language barrier, but no one ever messed with me during those teenage years in high school lol!! Perhaps because I was the quiet kid in every class no one knew much about but wanted to, meanwhile I was packing a killer physique since I was training every single day except on Sunday’s when the Dojo (school) was closed! In 2004 I passed the test for my black belt exam, and that felt similar to graduating from College lol. Ohh the memories...

as a belgian, and a kid of the 80's, i'll never shit on JCVD, the guy will forever be a f'ing legend in my book.

Til this day Kickboxer is one of my favorite movies.

Sudden Death is an underrated JCVD movie. Powers Boothe was a dope villain.

@No Name Will Smith: independence day, men in black, bad boys, enemy of the state. All movies of which totally crushes Van Damme's box office numbers. Keanu reeves, well he did matrix, one of the greatest action movies of all time. So yeah there is that, van damme isn't even in the same league. Eddie Murphy had the beverly hills cop trilogy which kinda makes kickboxer and bloodsport, and also universal soldier, and also timecop, look like failing b-movies.

His jump spin kick is best ever and his spinning hook kick is the best as well

Best airborne spinning kick ever. Just beautiful to watch. They didn't show JCVD. One of his best movies.

Dolph is pretty close too! If only 70% of his movies weren’t underrated stinkers...however the very few that aren’t truly made him a great action star! He just lacks hits like other three all have!

Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and Sho Kosugi are just as huge if not huger and paved the way for all the others as far as martial arts films go. Sho Kosugi single-handedly made the Ninja popular in every way and is solely responsible for the huge success of Ninja movies in the 80's and 90's. When anyone says "Ninja" everyone thinks of Sho Kosugi. Steven Seagal was huge in the 80's and 90's as well.

It is still action, also Van Damme is primarily a martial arts star and what he is known for. Sly and Arnold are only action stars.

Van Damme is an international treasure.

JCVD was my childhood hero and still is. As well as Sly and Arnold.

I've always liked him as an actor and person. We are all human, go through hard times and make mistakes. He's never ashamed to admit that. And he doesn't hold a grudge or salty about anything . Always says that he's lived a dream and stays very grateful and humble.

Jean Claude was like a hero to me as a kid... I owned all of the movies from his Most prestigious movie rolls. Jean Claude was a BIG part of my life in my younger years as a child...

The greatest legend of my generation. I remember being a kid and running miles every night to the video rental store to rent his movies, I would rent all his movies hundreds of times lol, he was my hero .

he seems happier and healthier then in one of the vids i saw. good for him and good for us the fans!

you can say whatever you want about him....... but he is unique, no one ever was that enterteining to watch as an action star, he is great and i would love to meet him one day, also thanks to Sly for getting him for the expendendables 2 , just hope someone else gets him for other movies

This was a great interview.. Van Damme is a major part of my childhood , very inspiring guy. I still watch his old movies frequently, like they just came out in the movies. One of my dreams is to train with him & learn how to honestly express myself through martial arts🙌🏽

My favorite of JCVD

He deserves everything he got cuz he work hard for it my favorite actor

In 6th grade we had a project that involved writing a letter to a celebrity or band to see if they responded. Most people didn’t get anything back. I wrote to JCVD . I wish I still had the letter. He sent me an autographed picture and some words of encouragement. I’ll never forget that.

Nothing negative about this man in the comments feed, tells you a lot about this mans greatness 💪🏻 pops passed away when I was about 7 and he was the one that introduced me to this Goat, we use to go to the mom and pops movie rentals around the house and watch a Van Damme movie every Saturday night, thanks JCVD for making my dad happy while he was around, RIP pops 🙏🏻

He is a very underrated actor. Nicolas Cage even complimented his acting in an interview several years ago. Unfortunately, Drugs can take their toll on any career. I could see Van Damme getting a major second break the way Robert Downey jr did. I hope it happens for him.

@@Summon256 I guarantee you Van Damme feels more pride in a Sci-Fi classic like Timecop than Kickboxer. Secondly his acting in Hard Target was far better than what we saw in Bloodsport. Lionheart also has EVERYTHING that makes Kickboxer and Bloodsport great, everything. A good villain, memorable side-characters, and a real MOTIVE for him to fight.

JCVD had some great movies in the late 80s and early-mid 90s. Funny how he starred in Friends with Courtney Cox, who was in Masters of the Universe with Dolph. Yes, Universal Soldier! 😁

YES! I was just going to say Wake of Death! It makes me so upset that it’s not talked about as much. SUCH a GREAT performance.

Chuck Norris was a great fighter with great movies, but Jean Claude's fight scenes in the early films were untouchable, the best of the best.

This man was a staple in my child hood in the 90s started off on bloodsport then to a kick-boxer ,double impact ,lion heart , universal soliders , time cop, knockoff I mean the list goes on but Jean Claude van dame will always be an idol of mine he was one of the goats in the 90s and he deserves his place on the action star Mount Rushmore

The part where he breaks the 4th wall and is describing his REAL life in detail is some of the best raw acting I've ever seen. Incredible job by JCVD..

There's no bullshit pc to this guy. I love it. Been a fan since 1923

TimeCop will always be my favorite movie.

Kick Boxer 1, Universal Soldier and Double Impact are my three fav JCVD movies. Honestly never seen Blood Sport.

He still looks great; I really don't understand why they don't use him in a lot of movies. He's a huge box office draw ,even now. I think they feel they have to cast him as a fighter all the time because people love to watch him fight . But they can do both: character development ,good plot and a few fights. They really should . He could even do a good mafia movie.

JC doesent get enough credit for his work behind the scenes of his movies. Eventough it wasn't talked about here , he re-edited his second staring role Cyborg because he hated the cut & he was the fight choreographer on many of his early films.

Inspired Johnny Cage and played Guile, this man had a lock on fighting games back in the day.

He came across as pretty humble in that interview, yet sometimes seems like an arse. Clearly has a lot of respect for Dolph though. Perhaps even good friends. This was a good interview.

Van Damme should do more movies in French. He really shines as an actor in his native tongue!
