JCVD was, is and will always be one of the greatest action heroes for any guy, like me, who grew up in the 80's and 90s. Inspired me to appreciate and practice martial arts and physique development. Loved all his movies and never missed one since No Retreat No Surrender. Amazing he did all that dealing with personal issues and bipolar... a truly great guy who conquered his fears and shows us all dreams can be reached.

As far as I can see and based on this very informative clip i have to say JCVD if anything life is that much more of a success story and I now gave him even more credit than I have before I always just assumed his walk to fame was probably a fairly easy one I never knew he had struggled so much for so long and took the gamble he did to follow his dreams to be a hollywood movie star ... in some ways it similar to that of Arnold Schwarzenegger whose journey to stardom i know quite well .. Much Respect to JCVD You are One In a Million brother ')

My favourite Jean Claude Van Damme movie is "JCVD." He plays himself and the is close enough to the truth of his life that makes it more memorable. Their are very few "action" scenes in the movie. But at one point in the movie he does a 5+ minute dialogue just looking into the camera. It is one of the most riveting monologues I've seen outside of Shakespeare.

Thanks for the featured story about Van Damme. I've come to know where he originated. I thought he was French because his name is Jean. I'm reluctantly a fan of his owing to his karate skills. But his passion for the sport is quite remarkable. I hope he fixes his personal issues and remain really healthy despite his age.

Met him and Craig David together promoting something just before Craig released his first single. A student recognized Craig David and he became a superstar too! They spoke with me for an hour! It was just outside a Beverly Hills restaurant on a street parallel to Beverly Hills Drive. Apparently you had to be famous to get in. My sister lived next door to Le Beau from Hogans Heroes! He got my wife and her a seating. RIP

He only made 1 awful film called "Knock-Off" about fake trainers/sneakers but all his other films and TV shows are great. He should be back in the mainstream movies and TV shows now so we can all get back to enjoying this great, talented actor.

He is very god, we are born the same year.... I have not heard any bad things about him I think he is a very humble man who does not brag.....like the biggest "Wanna be a star" Steven "Big mouth, belly" Segal... Van Dam has a very legit competition record and prove his skill.... Segal just talk, brag and eat...if Segal fall down on the floor...well they are going to need a forklift to get that huge belly up...i dont like that spoiled brat. Jean claude Van Dam is the real thing, god actor god ore exelent fighter a humble man...like him very much.

One of my favorite Martial Arts action heroes. He had a massive comeback in Expendables 2. I believe he had a huge ego. I have all his movies on DVD and or VHS, about 5 of them feature him in dual roles. Funny how nothing is mentioned about Street Fighter movie. It sucked bad, so I don't blame him.
