Jason I'm sorry that link does work. I was confused. I am looking for the make and model of the laser level you had in the video. Do you have that. Or is it somewhere in the link you have up. I'll keep looking. @@Building_Jays_Way

Absolutely LOVE Connecteam. Only affordable platform I could find, delivering WAY over what I expected and needed. HUGE THUMBS UP!
I love how it’s a “mess of a shop” and you can see the floor. That’s so sweet.

13 years after I retired and sold off everything out of my 2 car garage, it was so full I used to say that I had to exit the garage to change my mind. Most jobs would end up out on the driveway which was concrete so I was only hindered by the rain (in Houston)
I love that these guys are buddies away from the job site as well. Jamie comes across as a stickler sometimes but you can tell he’s a good friend
Jaime’s The Best, helping a friend out in his spare time, which He probably doesn’t have much of! ❤
Man Arlo is giving out great constructing hacks

What? He marks out 3ft, drills, screws and then measures another 16ft from said screw. Can’t folks add 3 and 16 and just mark at 19ft.

I put the screws in at 3 feet and then 16 feet for that so I had something to attach my string line to so I could pull the strings for my post. Yes I can add 16+3 it’s 18! Lol.

Working alone on a hard job can be demoralizing. Sure wish you a had a partner to tackle these tough tasks together. Ray, looking your way.
I'm laughing so much by that ad. If that is an old road bed the compaction is 95% proctor all the way.
As an avid D.I.Y’r I’m fascinated by your building techniques and carpentry skills. It’s given me all the confidence to try these techniques on my own property here in Wales U.K. I’m hooked on all your videos and count down the days to the next in all the series. What a close bond you have between each other. Keep it up.

The KZread rabbit hole sometimes leads you to great places. I discovered Perkins channel a couple of months ago and have been chewing through their playlists, until just the other day I saw the vid Building A House Start To Finish | Episode 24 from 3 years ago where they mention Ray & Jay, and from there to this vid. Great work, Jay! Learning from such experienced and generous masters of the craft as Jamie & Arlo is the best experience, and it shows in your work!
I like your detail, J. It'll allow others to learn step by step how it's done. It also looks really nice already. It's so nice you have Jamie and Eric as good friends. Too include all the others. Way to go J.
My Sundays, in the UK, are complete, with you on Jay's Way and Perkins Builder Brothers, I get all the building fun n facts I need to set me up for the week, thank you all. I said I'd copy and paste this over on your channel Jay, I did edit it so it's yours to read.. it's Sunday! I'm being lazy! LOL Great start on the garage extention Jay.
23:46 I'm not certain if it's for the entertainment or you really don't trust yourself. Jay, you construct very well AND abide by code (for the most part). There's nothing wrong with your build. (Jamie has blessed it). You are smart & conscientious about what you are doing.
When jay went to the rental store "AKA" Jamie's house i busted out laughn. I shoulda known that's where he was headed. 😂😂😂😂😂 !!!!!
When we build retaining walls, we: 1) Stake a line, just as you did 2) Dig all the holes in a row 3) Set the first and last posts 4) Pull a string line between the first and last post, but tape a carpenters pencil to those two posts and have the string rest on the pencils 5) As you work on setting posts through the middle, have them offset from the string the width of the carpenters pencil 5.5) Double check the offset of the post and string by sliding your own pencil between the post and string till it barely touches.
Hellllllo! Coool butt project ! Excited you making a shop for yourself
Jay - you got Eric's Laser Eye!!!
you are a hero, my friend. Calling her an employee!

Jason, your level of video production has drastically levelled up. I can see the thought process and effort, and creative ways to capture your work coming through. Each video gets better and better. I cant stress that enough. And the fact youre doing projects that all of us will do, or plan to do, or dream of doing - on our own property someday - its a huge bonus for me. If I can offer some small small criticism, its that your mic is a little loud, and muffled sometimes. May be a result of the improvements you've made lately. Well done again brother, cheers!

Thank you very much that’s very nice
You got it Jay.Don't doubt yourself.with advice from Jaime you got it.those Perkins brothers are the best at what they do. (Genius)👍
Around here, we put gravel in the bottom of post holes for drainage. Otherwise, water will sit on top of the concrete, soaking into the end grain of the post, accelerating rot. Of course, we're going 48" to get below frost line, so life is easy in N.C.
Great 1st episode on your new shop and great attitude!
I am in my 60s now I'm Brent Cowgar I used to flip homes with my wife would give about anything to work one day with you. Y'all are so funny and get the job done nice. To cool brother love y'all 😅😅

You got heart taking these projects on solo. Hang in there!
4’ OC posts! That’s stout as shit! I build post frame buildings and we run 6x6 posts at 10’ to 12’ OC, with a doubled 2x12 or LVL. That 4’ span will never sag, you’ll be set for life!

I really like this guy doing it himself! Jay, you are the legend! Appreciate this personal measure of “perfect”, it’s really cool to have this kind of internal agreement on reliable quality❤
Lol too funny, I was just thinking to myself, put some nails or screws into the bottom end of the posts for something for the concrete to grab. Not 5 seconds later there’s the clip of the nails in the posts 😂

Looking forward to episode 2. TY.
I'm impressed Jay! Really wonderful job getting those 6x6s square and plumb ... all by yourself!
Love that trick for finding the center point on the wall.
Looking good Jay. It will make a great home for the mower and golf kart 👍
Great work. We will continue watching your channel & PerkinsBuilderBrothers but we hope Ray has a channel to.
Well done, Jason! Tough job all by yourself but you pulled it off, man! Awesome!
Jay, I'm impressed with your building skills. Good job, always learning new things.
Well done you silly boy, cant wait to see the next part.
One trick I use when the ground is too hard to hammer in a footing pin… take a 5/8” hammer drill bit and start it into the ground where the pin will go. Gives a good head start 😅

Jay, add a spud bar to your tool inventory. Great for busting-up rocks/roots that get in your way when digging post holes by hand. Enjoyed your video--see ya on the next one.
I learnt three good tricks watching this. The first was how to check square other than the 3,4,5, method, the nails into the sides of the post to stop lateral movement and the laser level at any height and then measure up. Just hope I can remember them if I end up doing something in the future. BTW i felt the pain of having to dig those post holes.
Love your channel brother. Just a note though I would double check with Arlo on that trick. If your string line is not parallel to the existing wall the trick will still work but it just tells you where the perpendicular bisector of that wall will intersect your string line (aka center). Comes from a pencil compass. But it doesn’t tell you if your string line is parallel to the wall or not, just helps you find center. I would pull diagonals to your 8’ marks to double check maybe I’m wrong! Still I’m sure it’s close enough for what you need and can’t wait for the next video!!! Keep up the great videos brother!!
@Building_Jays_Way

Yeah I should’ve pulled diagonals. I didn’t think of it at the time. But like you said I think it’s good enough for this application. Thanks for watching
Would have been 3 4x4 posts at my house, but looks solid. I suggest throwing a tarp down next time you dig, and keep the dirt out of your washed stone. Weeds will show up next year probably.
good job Jays very nice
Thanks for the laser level tip! I am sure I will need it in the future. Nice build!

Everyone needs a Bob in their life, oh and an Arlo.
Nice job so far Jay👍👍 Looking forward to the next episode.
Looking really good. Having a dedicated workshop is great to have every thing in its place. I have a 14'x14' concrete base with a 14' x 8' workshop close to the base. Living halfway up a mountain where everything is a slope having flat areas is a blessing 😂. Rather than having 16" centres for the roof supports I would have thought 24" centres was sufficiently strong for a non-load roof. That would mean having 8 supports instead of 12, saving both time and money. Still you've probably built it by now 😂😂😂 Regards to you and your family / employees 😂 great post, thank you 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
Great start! Can't wait to see the final product.
I think that audio quality could be better. But one thing is true, sometimes I can't watch Perkins Builder Brothers' video in one go, even though they are shorter, but this one I watched entirely and enjoyed every second of it. You're one man show, and I find that more relatable
