Jay, I didn’t say this to you because I want something from you. I don’t need anything from anyone what I need is my wife back and she’s already gone to heaven so I just love you show I just wish you’d think just a little bit faster not faster but better before you make a move because I watch you do things twice as hard as you should have to, I’m gonna try and help you before you do things or I see you do something I’m gonna give you my two cents to see how you are if you use it or not by the way, did you close in the back of the new garage that you did because I don’t know how your weather goes and maybe it might come in that way and then your floors will be all wet and everything so I thought maybe you’d kind of closer in what a waterproofitem TX 111 is probably a very good you could paint that black try that little expensive but it will work and nobody’s gonna see it but you have a good day Jay God bless you and your family

Great job man. I think if it were me I would have put those panels on the inside of the wall cavities so that they ran full length. It definitely would mess with my OCD to have some of those gaps covered up and some open, but it's your shed and you get to make it how you want lol.

I would store all the flammables in the new addition. I'd make one bay of the main garage a cutting and sanding area and the other bay for fabrication. Put nail, screws, glues, caulk and other fasteners on the fabrication side. Store all the wood around and other materials on the back wall.

Honestly, critters will make their way in unless he pours a floor. Gaps are more beneficial in this scenario. My great grandfather built a smokehouse with a poured floor, CMU around the perimeter, frame on 16” center with lap siding and tin nailed on the inside ceiling and walls. No varmints getting to his hams and beef!

Jay, some thick mil visqueen stapled to the interior framework (back and front) would help keep the rain out...akin to what you did with the smart siding by the shelves. Additionally, a piece of ground rated wood/rail road tie would make a good footer for the garage door since you did not want to pour one.

Looks great. One thing you might want to add is to close off the slats near the garage door button. Just seems someone can open the door in 2 seconds from outside with something to push the inside button. Thieves always and more work to projects.

Jay, my only suggestions are to paint the front outside face of the shed and garage door the same color as your old/existing garage. Also i would paint the inside of the shed white on the walls and shelves to make it brighter, this will really help you see and find things in the nighttime when the lights are on. Other than that, well done and i am looking forward to seeing your next project.

Other shop makeovers I’ve seen put in storage units on locking casters. So they are portable and adaptable to changing needs. Plywood boxes / cabinet boxes with doors or drawers for storage. Or metal garage / tool storage units you can buy ready to use. Work table on casters, scrap wood organizers on casters. Mitre saw station, drill press station, band saw or lathe station, battery charging station, wall mount drill holders, vacuum system. Kyle from RR Builders designed a work trailer that was awesome. Michael Alm (KZreadr) is a woodworker & furniture builder, he built his custom shop. If everything has a home, it’s just as easy to put it down in its home rather than just leave out and have to move it twice. It’s a big job but take one task at a time and before long you’ll have it worked out. As much as you can get up off the floor the better. ❤Love the channel. Happy 2024 Jason & Stephanie🎉

By now you probably know the battery back-up is for when there's a power outage, so you can still get your car out of your garage. Great job. I'm really impressed. I love the way you left gaps on the outer walls... and I was thinking, if you put up shelves you'd want to cover the interior walls. Which, of course, you did. I am in Florida and I always wanted to move/retire in NC. Every time I watch one of these videos or the Perkins Brother's videos it encourages me to keep trying persuade my wife to find a piece of land up there and start building something. I am definitely not a amazing builder as you are but hopefully growing up in a farm when I was young gave me enough to do "some of that stuff". LOL So keep posting your very good videos because I am sure there plenty of people like me who just need that kind of motivation to start something. Thanks again.

In that scenario you can run a stiff wire over the top of the door and snag the safety release on the inside. Takes a couple of tries, unless you just get lucky, but then you just pull the release and open the door.

Nice look on it. Heck, I probably would have painted the three unfinished sides and put the pre-finished side facing inward. But, then that factory finish is really best with the extra paint on it and all the weather hitting it. I see you also added panels inside on the one wall. So, a little lees impact to having a painted wall. Less painting (but you do like painting, hehe) and the inside of the shed would be lighter for you.

I think you should install a dust extraction system it might be a pain but will definitely help your health later on down the line, also run outlets in more places than what you think youll need!

Jay this looks super good, I’m afraid the panels you put inside to prevent rain creates a wasp nest cavity from all the gaps between each posts, why not put them inside the posts right against the interior of your siding one by

Amazing work 🙌 I would have attempted to maybe screen it from the inside, to avoid having rodents crawl in. But I love it brother 👍

at the end of the series could you do a summary type of thing and go through the details of what you did? like a time lapse of the series with voice over

Looks absolutely terrific! The gaps between the boards gives it a very modern look and clean look imo. I'd suggest putting a bit of netting on the inside or else you might find yourself being a bird or wasp breeder come spring 😂

You killed this project, Jay. Loved watching each video and I can't wait to see the remainder to come with the shop. Definitely inspired me to do something very similar with what I have! Keep up the great work and content.

Jay if i were you, if you haven't already, put a small panel around the inside opener so people cannot press the inside opener from outside using a stick or crowbar. Just abit of added safety. No point having the secure garagedoor if you can open the door from the outside.

Yeah. I figured having the garage door would be somewhat of a deterrent from people trying to steal anything! My main garage door is usually wide-open so if somebody wants to steal something I don’t think they’re going to have a problem! Lol our neighbors are pretty cool I think I’ll be all right. Thanks for the thoughts
