Jay Z isn't a kid anymore and hasn't been for some time. He is almost 50 and has a family. It makes sense that his message and delivery should change. It's called growth...

He raps about personal things on a few songs on a few albums. If you listen to his albums you can see him fighting his demons some albums are more braggadocio, some more hard and some more personal. But he's always rapped about meaningful things, it has just always been in the shadow of the drug dealer and materialism which is a reflection of where he's from.

What about Haiti, Trinidad& Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent& the grenadines, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Cuba, Dominican Republic, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Martens, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica, Antiqua and the list goes on and on. So therefore JA is not just the Caribbean, that is just being bias cause you're Jamaican. Like I said I love JA and JA ppl but some of y'all are known to be bias. I'm Haitian I could of said my ppl change the meaning of freedom in the islands they were the first black freed republic in the Western Hemisphere. The Haitian revolution is very historic but I know what my African/Haitian ancestors did I do not have to be bias or brag about it.

Jamaica will always be the home country for hip hop..Thats why so many rappers go there..Its like a pilgrimage..The way Mecca is for Muslims.

Yes - hip hop started in The Bronx, NY - via Kingston, Jamaica.

cerebral dome - if you were from NY - where hip hop was birthed - then you would know. Most of the US has no clue (just like they don't know most of the break dancers were Puerto Rican)... Maybe some in South Florida who had access to Jamaican dancehall would know too. The fact that you don't know history doesn't mean it's not a fact.

cerebral dome dude your an idiot, this is what u hate about my generation everyone wants to argue and shit but no one wants to research and find out the facts. Fact is hip hop was started by a JAMAICAN DJ in the Bronx who would play late 70's records with his turntable. The MC or master of ceremony would then perform Jamaican style TOASTING (rhythmic chanting) over the track which then evolved to rapping. The carribean influence in hip hop and to a greater degree African American culture as a whole makes PERFECT SENSE AS OVER 80% of Africans brought to america came via the West Indies. Wake up read a book and know your history my brother.....
like for Jamaica
I was today years old when I first heard this song and saw amazing video for the first time!! March 2023🎉❤
I mean if your a Hiphop purist then you’d know that DJ Kool Herc (Jamaican) created what is now known as Hiphop music, RESPECT!!!
Best song off the album hands down. Don't fight me on this.

2022 present ✅ Bless up Jamaica 🇯🇲
Im a huge Nas fan but can we stop it with the Jay/Nas comparison?...Both Mc's are legends and they ended their beef long ago..so what Nas teamed up with Damien first..respect to both jay and nas for making great music.

well said. Plus Damian Marley is now signed to RocNation, Jay Z's label AND Tidal, that's why Jay jumped on the occasion to do music with him now. Keep it in the label, profit for both.
