Admire the heck out of Alex Honnold. I am sure he could afford an Earth Roamer at $500k but lives simply leave a small footprint.
@RealFableFox
Жыл бұрын
Small is keyword. Earth Roamer is more of an overlander. More in the bigger tough vehicle category. It is hard to go to his popular location (which some road might have 20 foot limit). Hence the van. 4x4 popularity in RV van comes later [ you can say they arrived when Wiinnegabo made Revel ] but previously you either has to make one yourself or go Sports Mobile route. But for a one person a van is a logical choice. Earth Roamer is more for family travelling the world.

Alex is so humble
Jay's lucky....Alex usually makes everyone do finger hangs from the door overhang fingerboard, to see if they're worthy to enter. Alex is the true road warrior....straight up a vertical cliff-face. Sans everything....except fingers.
$180,000 vs $30,000...go with the Ram. The Ram Promaster is a joy to drive. The massive windshield and gargantuan side mirrors give you a commanding view of the road The only thing I would suggest to Alex is put the Prime Design cargo rack on top. It latches on to the factory tabs on the roof, then put your solar panels on top of the rack as well as throw a Surfboard/SUP/Canoe/Kayak for some water sports along the way. I have one on my 118" Ram and use it for my solo canoe. I went for the smaller van with the low roof, but you can almost stand up straight so it's not that bad but it's cavernous inside and I keep it modular for both camping and hauling stuff because that's what a van is made for.
@nelinno04
2 жыл бұрын
Agreed on RAM, but $30k for a converted promaster is nonsense, idk how they figured that in the video. A used promaster with 50-100k miles and no conversion work runs $30k.

ive tested both in the cargo version , here in europe the Ram is a fiat ducato , and the other one is a mercedes sprinter that style of van is the most used here , both of them have giant windshields , an elevated view of the road and they are very confotable even for long travels also pretty fast

Jay bought himself a huge, expensive, uppity house in Newport Beach. This is the original area where many of the richest people in the world chose to live next to each other. It's all about money, country clubs, aristocrats, snobbery and not mingling with lower classes. Jay isn't as much of a snob as most of the people in Newport, but money gives away a persons thoughts and priorities, his character. He's rich, has a huge car museum, at least two lavish homes, the list goes on. Jay doing this video about a young man who's not materialistic and lives in a van is more than odd. Jay is deserving of what he has as he earned it. However van dwelling is about character too, about life, not wealth.
