    Exactly. They've proven to be terrible owners. The only decent one has been John Henry. All the rest have been diabolical, and either did nothing (Kroenke, Lerner) or wanted to make it more like American sports - Ellis Short, Glazers, and now Boehly. Never get an American owner, because they WILL ruin your club. They just 'dont get' football. Boehly has shown this, so far.

    Yes, exactly. I don't think poch could have stayed on with just a year left on his contract, and while I would have given him a 12 month extension, we don't know exactly what he was asking for. Mutual termination of contract was very likely, especially given poch's comments, which implied it a few weeks back. Not the end of the world for chelsea or poch.

    @@ar3tr0Cityzen420 Yes - these things exactly. The trouble with English fans in general is that they're not very good at protesting or making their views to the owners known (other than some booing sometimes at home games). They only become really active when their club is facing liquidation.....and by then it's too late. Mass boycotting of home matches, no season ticket renewals, and a refusal to buy the latest shirts - are all examples of real 'fan power'. This is what I mean. Fans in other countries (such as Germany for example) are generally much better at doing these things than English fans are. We're too complacent, and too apathetic. We let owners push fans around too much, and subsequently that means English fans tolerate bad or toxic owners much more than fans from other countries. A classic example of this are the Glazers at United. Fans say they hate them, yet seemingly do very little about it.

  • @420_Emissary
    @420_EmissaryАй бұрын

    We've just pushed out a manager who was trying to uphold the club's culture. Strangely enough, he was the one person who understood what Chelsea is and ironically help aid Roman's vision, of having a brimming academy, being realised. The club has now embraced Reece James as the undisputed club captain (rightfully or wrongfully), we've put him front and centre of the team yet it was Poch's decision in the first place; now it seems as if it was always destined to be. Fans and pundits alike were pining for Silva or someone more experienced to be captain yet Poch understood the long term vision. He was trying to develop a homegrown/English-oriented captaincy and hierarchy within the squad with James, Chilwell, Gallagher, Colwill and Chalobah being the lynchpins. For years we were mocked for solely having continental players now we're sacking a manager for wanting to establish a fundamentally English core. He's given debuts to Alfie Gilchrist, Michael Golding, Alex Matos, Josh Acheampong and Leo Castledine, in his first season, more than any other previous manager, under arguably the most tumultuous conditions. What makes this all the more disappointing is that previous years under Roman we felt as if every sacking was ultimately in order to course-correct, in this case it seems as if we're just steering ourselves into uncharted waters with many fighting for the wheel. Poch knew the league and now knew his team, whoever we get would need another adjustment period. Plus even then, what guarantees would have that he won't be sacked for a above-average season? The entire team wanted the manager to stay. Even under the great Tuchel, Conte and Mourinho we had players fall out with them, not with Poch. This is the odd occasion in our history where the team had more faith in the manager than the board. If anything the player's opinion should matter most as they are the ones who work with him daily. Players can never truly buy into a manager's tactics now because their opinion is not valued by the higher-ups. Eventually the players will develop their own "player power mentality" since the managers will be an ever revolving door whilst they're the constants. Poch developed into a father figure for this young crop, helping them develop their games. That's what Fergie did all too well. He may not have been the "winning-mentality" manager we needed long term but he was the right coach for right now. The next manager will be likely be stoic and cold because he'll be fighting for his job from day-one, no patience for these young lads, he'll get frustrated and leave, then the cycle continues again. Just gutted.

    Non fan but even l thk Poch has surpassed what i thought he wudda achieved in such a short space of time with the reckless lot at his disposal on his arrival (bar Palmer). Careful what u wish for(especially when u have no intention of retracing Tuchel, Mo-Jo an other L8- gr8s

    As a Liverpool supporter I would have had pochetino after klopp! I really like the guy and think he is very talented, can't understand why spurs sacked him😳😳 he got them to the Champions league final!!!!, my god! The pressure on managers is too much, everyone seems to want success 'yesterday', hope that poch finds a club that appreciates him and gives him time, Chelsea is a mess at the moment

    Keep everyone fit? Good luck with that! We have so many injury prone players who are either out injured, coming back from injury, or shortly will be injured after a couple of games🤷‍♂️The worst injury record in the Prem last season. Not a statistic any club wants.
