Jude playing 10 is part of the main problem. Everybody seem to be avoiding criticizing him. He's not a 10 but 8. He's not creative. All the goals he scored with real Madrid were not due to creativity but ;cos he was allowed to burst forward or arrive late through the middle.

I agree and mentioned that in a diff comment. Then out some creativity and speed around Kane like a real left forward and move Foden to a 10. I think England suffering because these big players now need a continental tactical genius that is not scared to impose their vision on the team and players respect. In the same way Bellingham does whatever Ancelotti tells him because it’s Ancelotti. Likewise for Foden and Guardiola On top of all that I think foreign teams have a higher footballing IQ. They’re all clever players that adapt in game. England players are very good at doing their main roles but not as adaptive.

Spurs fan here. I've always said this about Kane that he goes missing in so many games just like last night. Its like you're always playing with 10 men when he is on the field.... At the end of the season he'll rack up the goal stats but he doesn't contribute much else.... He can't dribble, he has no pace, he doesn't press and he isn't a big physical presence. I would drop him. To me he is now a sub you bring on when you need a goal.

100%. I’m a Spurs season ticket holder and was ready to move him on for 2 seasons. His presence gives everyone else an excuse and (unlike his early career) he didn’t press and trotted around like a primadona while 10 players had instructions to give it to him. Yes he scored a lot of goals but so would a pinball mushroom moving randomly around the box and a team trying to hit it

"we think england should run over every team". that is exactly why we consistently get disappointed by England. For the people in the back, English football is not that much better than other countries. We always think it is which is why our expectations get out of whack. Aside from Germany v Scotland and Spain v Croatia, there have been no blowouts this Euro. For any of the big teams. The standard across Europe is much closer than people think and the reality is that there are many players across Europe who could step in for our prem stars and do a similar job. Until we accept that, we will keep being disappointed at major tournaments.

Most of us fans who actually know football do understand that. People let emotions get the best of them though and think the game is won on paper. We're used to being frustrated with England performances, and that includes the past couple tournaments also. But this tournament I'm more angry now because its blatant mismanagement. We're only asking for players to be played in position, and execute thr basics i a well drilled system. They look bereft of confidence and disjointed all over the field. Sakas a moments player and not consistent yet, and i think hes slightly overrated. And Rice is well overrated. This is the guy who made his name as a 6, everyone was lauding him, now some of these pundits say hes not good enough or comfortable enough, to take the ball from the defence on a half turn and play the ball and that hes better pushing forward. Hes not WC at either! He reads the game defending well and thats it. But I accept that and he does his job (usually), why are some people expecting more - he doesnt have it in the bag! Hes not technical, progressive on the ball or agile, like even an aged Kante! Hes no Camavinga, no where near Rodri. Anyway Im going off on a side subject, but overall Southgate is making a mess and overcomplicating. Hes creating issues that dont need to be there and has a weak plan.

You should look up the 2004 euro team. There’s not a player in our starting 11 who would have made that team. And they didn’t win.

What a disrespect towards Harry Kane this is. Not even Messi would win any trophy at Tottenham and the crappy season at Bayern was bound to happen with that incredible unbeaten run Leverkusen had. I swear I remember Kane talking in the spurs documentary about being fascinated by the last dance documentary and how Michael Jordan was a bit of a hybrid and used to basically play every role in the team. I think he’s taken so much inspiration from that that when the team just isn’t playing well he tries to do everything. That’s why he comes so deep all the time to try and get involved. He’s on the wrong side of 30 now, he needs to be the ultimate poacher inside the box if he’s not got the legs to stretch a defence.

If you’re English and you spend most of your career playing at Spurs…..you’re probably not going to win anything domestically or internationally. It’s not really a reflection on Kane. Far worse players have been mere passengers and wound up with more trophies.

Let's not get silly. At Bayern he had a world class manager. At international level he has a manager that is probably not even League 1 level. I believe people like Darren Ferguson of League 1 Peterborough and Paul Cook of League 2 Chesterfield are better managers than Southgate, they also have far more experience too which like in any job, is very important

Denmark does have some really good players. Whenever they've had problems lately, it's usually due to the coach not knowing exactly how the team is played the best. But when they find each other you can see the potential. I think there are some very exciting young players coming through as well, which will make Denmark a nice team to watch

Last time I checked it's a team game. The striker needs to be fed the ball. He needs chances to be created. People saying that Kane is the problem is ridiculous there's 11 players and a manager. I have no idea why every pundit and media personality thought England would do well. I was walking round work telling anyone who would listen that I wouldn’t be surprised if they didnt get out of the group. We’ve won 1 of our last 5 games coming into this tournament, including a draw to North Macedonia and a loss to Iceland. The squad is a mis-match of young, uncapped players and horrendously short in certain positions such as LB and LW. And the manager proved long ago that he simply isnt good tactically, the players genuinely look like they have no idea of what they’re supposed to do when they’re on the pitch.

It's when we facing a big team that I thought we'd be found out. I didn't expect the performances to be this poor though against even the less big teams. I think Trippier at left back is a weakness, Branthwaite should be playing there. I have tons of respect for Kieren but he is better on the right and I wouldn't have chose him based on his late season form at NU. Trent Alexander plays better when he's coming forward from right back, when he can see plays develop ahead of him, he seems a bit at sea in midfield. As far as Kane goes, he's a finisher and needs to get decent service, calling him a trophy dodger is absurd... it's a team game. Playing Foden in the left is really a head scratcher, especially when you have Eze or Gordon who can put pressure on the defense with speed. Foden should be positioned like he was at Man City, floating behind forward players in the middle.

Most people would expect or have a reasonable opinion of England to go deep in this tournament. Football is not played on paper. The performance over 2 games so far is miles away from a tournament winning team. The fact GS started both games with 3 RFBs and no LFB ( selected 1 injured ) is basically ridiculous and is staggering from so called elite coaches. Even though we have supposedly a good squad the changes GS can realistically make are and can only be minor. Eg. Bringing a left sided player in for balance and moving a player inside for creativity. When you arrive at a tournament the time for experiments are over. Everyone and everything should be in place to execute the task. For England to be in this situation right now is beyond belief.

You can add Southgate to that list.

2 up front, Kane with foden playing off him. Saka right, Palmer or Gordon left, Bellingham with Rice in middle, both alternating between defence and attack. That should be the engine room.
