    It’s not think about it. It was euro 2012 by then ronaldo hadn’t got anywhere near his peak in finals and champions league if anything carragher was right he hadn’t done it it yet but then proved that he can do it

    ⁠he scored his teams only goal in the 2008 champions league final as a 23 year old and lifted the trophy that night and Carragher who clearly hates him says he hasn’t had an impact in a big game 🤣🤣🤣 obvs after 2012 he dominated loads of big matches lifting 4 more champions league and Euros, his countries first EVER major tournament, so ye Carragher is a born hater and couldn’t lace Ronaldo’s boots

    Seeing Sir Bobby so devastated when England lost to Brazil in the 2002 World Cup makes me sad. And I am Brazil fan through and through. But I will never forget Sir Bobby, because he did bring my favorite player Ronaldo into the forefront when he signed him at Barcelona in 1996.

    @@heijimikata7181 Yeah he was but that team had Alan Ball as manager, who immediately sold some of the best players, and besides Kinkladze, bought inferior ones - as a result they were relegated in his first season. Francis Lee shouldn't have brought in his mate Alan Ball.

    He was part of 4 losing shootouts with England, he never took one spot kick or even step forward for one. He never scored a goal for England. He was assistant under two of the most embarrassing England tournaments appearances ever in 2014 and 2016. And most of all, Danny Mills comfortably replaced him in 2002.

    @@nikolabozic9791 in 2012 he didn't think Ronaldo had a huge moment in the champions league? He scored a crucial header against Chelsea in the final. But nonetheless, he ended up dominating multiple ucl campaigns after 2012 anyway. Scored in 2 more finals, won a handful of golden boots and also won the euros. Didn't dominate the euros that year, but he's won it. Ronaldo did way better in the second half of his career than his first. Had a slow start in Madrid, but once he picked up, he never stopped

    ​@@mohammedfaiisal He said that maybe on the back of 3 consecutive eliminations from UCL with Real, that was big dissapointment at that time, plus lost 2009 UCL final where Barcelona dominated the game. Everybody expected from Ronaldo to single handedly win UCL for Real, what was unfair in my opinion. But Ronaldo was monster then and i was big Ronaldo hater at that time, that's how good he was. Literally unstopable, machine.

    @@nikolabozic9791 Ronaldo is good, but he's not that good to single handedly carry Real Madrid. It wasn't until the signings of the likes of Modric Casemiro Bale and then a year later Kroos, that got them dominating the champions league. They were a crucial part of the reason. It took Ronaldo 5 years to win the champions league with Man United and then the same length of time with Madrid. But we saw the best of Ronaldo, just after the 2012 euros and then went to another level after the 2014 world cup and champions league victory

    Carragher claims his penalty miss vs Portugal doesn't bother him but it obviously does, especially when it was a 20 year old Ronaldo right after him who scored to win it. There's no other explanation to his agenda towards CR7.

    Amazing how the line up has declined in the past decade. 10 years back you’d have the likes of Bilic, Canavarro, Viera alongside your Keane, Neville, Souness, Wrighty and co. Now you have the likes of Eni Aluko and friends as the “replacements”.

    He was injured for the tournament and Danny Mills played as a result. Mills was actually decent enough in the tournament but still. Unfortunate that England lost Gerrard and Neville for 2002. We definitely still would have lost to Brazil but it would have been nice for them if they got to play in that side. Definitely the best side of their time for England.

    @@andyng5321 Gerrard got an injury. Not sure when but he was out of the tournament. I assume the comment on Ronaldo was from Euro 2012. At time he had not yet won the Champions League with Madrid and had not won anything with Portugal.

    ian right wasnt bad over the years, but jeez with the overlap and what not, just as bad as neville and keane. it's funny the best itv pundit is the foreign coach type of guy. and the best on bbc is an import in fabregas or typically whoever else fills his spot.
