Jasmin, Damian and a Barkley Adventure

Спорт

In this exhilarating episode of the Film My Run podcast, we dive deep into the heart of one of ultra-running's most compelling stories with the legendary Jasmin Paris and Damian Hall. Fresh from her historic finish as the first woman to complete all five loops of the Barkley Marathons, Jasmin shares the grit and spirit it took to achieve this feat. Alongside Damian, they peel back the layers of their Barkley experiences, discussing the intense preparation, the highs and lows on the course, and the momentous final push to the finish line.
Beyond the race, Jasmin and Damian open up about their commitment to sustainable running and the impact of their environmental advocacy on their racing choices, including the tough decisions they've made regarding participation in events like the Barkley.
This episode is not just about a race; it's a celebration of human endurance, the power of the running community, and a call to action for environmental stewardship. Whether you're a seasoned ultrarunner, a casual jogger, or simply someone who loves a good story of determination and courage, this conversation will inspire, inform, and maybe even challenge you to think differently about what you can achieve and the footprint you leave behind.

I am just on my way home after running Paris Marathon (thanks for filming it, was very useful). I had a very late start and so watched this while I was waiting. I wanted to say that Jasmin’s sentence “I believed I could do it” turned out to be so important to me. I had managed injury in training and was really not sure that I would finish if the problem started again. I run walked and the issue stayed at bay. I carried that sentence with me the whole time and I run the whole way with a great mental attitude making it a great run. So i wanted to thank you for the part you played in it

Great interview from a person who clearly appreciates the achievements of these two people. You really allowed the emotion of Jasmine’s finish to come across and you covered a lot in that hour. Well done. Petition signed! 👏👏👏👏

Watched it now and remain unconvinced by the Green angle. It seems that making choice A which goes against stated principles can be offset by making choices B, C and D which are in line with said principles. The same could be said of parkrun tourism with the virtuous add-on of not having flown anywhere for 11 years to collect one. Apart from that, super interview and a great scoop. Well done, Stephen.

Wow you are a bit miserable!! In your next comment, try to say something positive and encouraging. It just makes the world a better place. If you don't agree with what the Green Runners are doing fine. They may not be perfect but who the heck is? At least they are attempting, despite the abuse, to do something, which is more that you or me are doing.

I'll give this a watch later. Would be interested to see how they can preach green credentials with the one hand, and in Damian's case speak out against parkrun tourism, then jet around the world for these big ticket events.

Taking a private plane to Barkley would be hypocritical, but taking unused seats on commercial flights isn't an issue with me. The planes are flying regardless.

Not true, Damian and Jasmin hardly ever fly. They are not saying ‘you can’t have fun’ or ‘you can’t live a life’. They are just asking us to think a little more about your impact on the planet. Try to do what you can, and if you can make a small sacrifice then do. But they aren’t trying to shut your life, or theirs, down. They are nice people and they don’t deserve the shit people are throwing at them.
