Japanese Style Tree Training & Cloud Pruning - DIY style

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here is a video about my attempts to train a Cyprus tree and topiary it in the Japanese cloud pruning style. Things didn't quite go to plan...

How interesting! I didn't know trees of that size/age could be trained like that. I thought it would break. Very beautiful tree. Looks like a bonsai!

Gardening at Douentza First of all you have a lovely way of presenting evrything. And second, I do love nature in general, but I don't have space to grow anything else for the moment. Well, except orchids :D Always find a place for them. And you wouldnt belive it but my orchids are really enjoyng staying little bit crowded :D I can bet they are playing cards or something right now :)) They are close friends :) Can't wait to visit your garden 😍

copper wire around each branch as a coil and can bend that branch in any direction and will remain. Keep wires on until branch hardens and matures maybe two years

Giant bonsai ! Take care that the top branch doesn't split - 'forks' love to just slowly part company while you stand and watch. (Not that I've done that of course!) That reminds me - ALL my bonsai need repotting so I must remember to watch the buds for signs of swelling - but it does mean going 'outside'. Out there at the moment is -2C. In the orchid plant room, it's 19C. Now where shall I have my coffee.............

+Gardening at Douentza It is depressing everywhere. Over here it is worse. The government is slapping austerity right across our faces but nobody has realised it yet. I followed the Scottish referendum; now it feels like I am sleepwalking but wide awake. On a cheerful note I bought three Cattleya(-esque) orchids this week. One I have wanted it for so long
