I posted a follow up video with your voice and screenshots from this video to show where the idea came from and it has 173k views and 15k likes as of this morning. Thanks for your kind comments. It really was a remarkably simple thing to do, and very effective, but it probably took me a good couple of years to bite the bullet and make the first cut. Looking back, it did look quite scruffy after the first cut but it has improved year on year, so don't be disheartened if it isn't immediately stunning! Perfection takes time!

Love the idea. How big was your yew when you first started the pom poms?

I think it was probably about 120cm tall and it is still not much more than that.

What a great result!! I can't even keep a globe cedar round. 🤦🏻♀️ I'm for sure going to have a look for those one handed pruners though.

Thanks Roxanne. Yes, I can't praise these shears highly enough (Jakoti Hand Shear for Gardening or Sheep Shearing). They make the job so much easier, very comfortable and great hand strengtheners!
