Japanese CAN Ration TASTE TEST | Type-1 JSDF Japanese Self-Defense Forces MRE

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I'm tasting a Japanese ration last produced in 2009. Called Type-1 rations, they come packaged in cans and required a long boiling time. 🇯🇵 Thanks, Gundog, for sending me this ration to make this video possible. 😁 New videos every Thursday and Saturday!

Carlos Balaguer question what is your favorite salty snack and sweet from where you live ? . I'm just curious I live in the US and my favorite salty snack is a certain flavor of doritos and I like sour snacks more then sweet but i like gummy worms for a sweet snack

Keri Eckles My favorite savory snacks are definitely Salt & Vinegar chips and Lime/Mojito limited edition Lay's. However as of Spanish snacks I like jamón flavor Ruffles and Pipas G Tijuana flavor (those are sunflower seeds). I also remember having Papa Deltas, Risketos and Shiki Shin while growing up. I didn't really care for sweet snacks though but I'll say polvorones and mantecados (dry, powdery almond Christmas treats) are delicious, and so are Kinder Bueno, Kinder Delice and basically anything Kinder 😂😂😂

Like the vast majority of Japanese military gear the food is top notch. I would expect nothing less for the JSDF, great fighting force keeping Japan safe. In addition to this type of ration this is for in the rear with the gear soldiers not front line guys who have far more compact and light weight rations. Those actually have snacks as well. These rations are for motorcades and guys at supply depots and bases where weight is not a factor. IF memory serves correctly.

A common thread I notice watching these MREs is the care that is attempted in the creation of the ration packs. They can't be homemade or 5-star, but to see the seasonings, drinks, deserts, and even the various heating elements provided are impressive. I think if you are 1000s of miles from home that even seeing a brand named packaged item, like a packet of tea or coffee would provide some sort of comfort.

Thanks Emmy and Gundog! I just got a manual can opener that is the best one I have ever had. It does make the "safety" cut which is good..I guess. A bit harder to drain but anyway the thing itself is wonderful! Its all like one piece in the business end and handle. There is just a loop you sit on the can against the lip. There is a simple cutting tooth which moves as you turn the "gear" and when done just back that up a quick turn to release. It does not take the lid with it which I prefer. I got it from Zulilly which means it was on discount. Like $7 total maybe? Gonna get more for the fam when I can. Cancan hehe!🎃🐝

the type of can opener we´ve always had at home is a sturdier version of what came with the came with a real handle. You would use it so that u push the pointy cutting bit away from you instead of towards yourself like you tried :) Think Ive only ever used a twist one once. They confused me as a kid.

Have you tried one of those side can openers? They cost a little more (like $20) but they work so nicely, don't create sharp edges, don't cause juice spurting out the can when you open it, and they even turn the top into a little lid.
