I have a large (2500 sq.ft.) garden and I quite like my Earthway seeder. Comparing the Earthway to the Jang is like comparing apples and oranges. The Jang is more machine, but at about $500 vs. $120 for the Earthway, it should be! The Jang is perhaps a great investment for a market garden but not so much for the home garden.

I use the Earthway and the Hoss seeders. The Earthway is setup to be used behind one of the garden tractors. It is used mainly for the larger seeds, I.e., peas ,beans , corn, etc. Was not quite satisfied using it with small seeds, so bought the Hoss for that. At this point it is still a push model, one of these days will build the framework to put it behind the garden tractor too. With the Earthway have found it works best if tilted slightly to the right as you are planting. (think the hitch gives it a five degree tilt) as a side note all my small seeds are pelleted. Am a much smaller grower than yourself. Biggest selling item for me is beets. Keep putting out the great information you do.

As others have said, why so little about the Earthway? Farming is pretty brutal with the low profit and these decisions about expensive tools can become pretty stressful. Wish you had done a review on the Earthway even half of what you did on the Jang. As we know, most beginning farmers start with the Earthway of necessity though of course we all would prefer the Jang.

Good god, your beds are so pristine. Please tell me at least your sock drawer is a mess. I use the Earthway seeder, but my beds are very rocky and often times have lots of dead grass clumps to stop the furrow. To deal with that, I drag my furrows with a hoe, raise the furrow on the seeder, and use it to drop the seeds, cover, and tamp. A bit of extra effort until I get that new Jang that's on my wish list.
