These have been around for years Used on as a kid to plant many gardens. The one you have is the same as the one I have in fact it was my Grandfathers and passed to my Dad and now I have it. They are a great tool.
We have had one for 30 years + They work great. I used one when I was a teenager now I am 54. It still works like new.

Growing up on a farm with large gardens, we had a seed planter that towed behind the tractor. It planted 6-8 rows at a time. When you are planting acres at a time it makes a difference.
My wife and I have been using ours for 20 years. Great video.
Had an Earth way planter for over 20 years. Best thing since sliced bread.
This is the way my grandpa did it and like you I have his seeder he passed down👍🏻thanks for the content
That's it! I'm getting one for next year's garden my back will be happy again. Great video
Great video. I love watching these things at work. My mom, who had the greenest thumb I've ever seen, would have planted our entire backyard if she had one of those. Keep these awesome videos coming our way.
Great video, thanks!
Great choice with the Silver Queen corn, so good ! Thumbs up !!!
I have planted acres now through the years with a Earthway planter . I got 2 of them one just like yours .
Thank you for sharing! I bought this at a rummage sale for $20. Had an idea what it was for, but had no idea how to use it. thanks for sharing so much!
Nice video. Love to watch planting the gardens.
I just dug out my old earthway seeder. I need to order plates and I hatld to rig up a fix on my pully. But I got it going. Awesome content new sub
Great video . Always learning something from you . Didn't know that you made the rows like that at first and then plant on top of the rows . As you can tell I'm not a farmer . LOL .
Very interesting and informative planting video. Nice little planter. Enjoyed the video and thanks for sharing.
Love seein the three sisters out there doin their thing.
Enjoyed this video.👍🏻We have one of those planter contraptions in the family, and I've never tried it. I always thought it was a piece of junk. Now you've motivated me to give it a try and a chance.👍🏻👍🏻
I just bought one of these secondhand came with all the extra seed discs i love it
Nice Stoney! Super handy little tool. Cheers!
Loving the garden series
My father has uswd one of these seedera to sow sweet sorghum seed for year. This year I finally dug the old seeder out and repaired a few things and it works as good as new. Hoping to use it soon. Wheat is just around the corner!!!!!! Super excited to see how it does!! Wish us luck!!!

Love your channel! Has helped a lot!
I love my Earthway planter. I use it in my smaller garden to plant okra, beans and other items that I only do a row or two of. I have an antique Allis Chalmers planter unit that mounts to the tractor that I plant my large corn and pea patch with.
Hey Josh thanks for the video it's a good video like usual
Magic mate. Great vlog ..
Until now we have never seen one of those. We will be buying one for next year/ It will help tons!!
I bought one a few months ago for my sweet corn. I’ve been seeding by hand and it kills my back. I’m excited to see how it goes. Thanks for the video and advice sir.
I have the same one from my dad I used for years.
Saw it on This Wyoming Life...pretty cool.
I used one of those when I was a kid and I'm now 55! Lol

Still work great!
It's a good seeder for big seeds, but it always give me trouble with small seeds. I still love mines :D
I have been wanting one for the past couple of years!! I was also late planting the garden, thankfully the growing season is long enough to be forgiving. This seems to be the year for "sister gardening". I'm working on a series of planting corn, beans, and squash together. I'm not sure I'm having any luck with it though. My corn is up, but the beans and squash (I also substituted melons) hasn't sprouted yet. I hope your luck is better! Randy
My dad raised more potatoes than we needed and could give away to family so Daddy went to a little farmers market set up roadside believe me we had a 3/4 quarter ton pickup loaded to the you couldn't put another one on without it rolling off well man told him setup by him he sell a bunch what the man didn't know was Daddy was giving them away he got mad said daddy was taking money out of his pocket daddy said yeah but not theirs keep up the great vedios
That tool plants good hope you have a good stand and the peas are great with some fat back and cornbread
Looking forward to getting ideas for a deer fence. Hopefully before they eat my beet tops!

Deer are my only problem, there are turkey, rats, Peter rabbit, racoon and armadillos and such. Once my puppies get big they will be taken care of.
Good video and hope the deer fence video comes quickly.
Thanks again!!
Hi.... Thank you 🎥👍👍👍
I love companion planting. Hell I've been known to stun out a patch of viney crops and let them crawl the ground, got the best Roma tomatoes I've ever had that way. Throw cucumbers and Kentucky Climbers on the same trellis works well too.
I have been wanting to buy one of those planters, maybe one day I can talk the wife into getting me one. Awesome video brother.

Works good I got one of those a while ago off side of the road but was slightly diffrent and it didn't have the plates but ya I never used it gave it away but now wish kept it and just got the parts lol
Look for a good used Covington planter with a good selection of seed plates. I've bought 3 and kept 1. Other 2 I bought to fix and flip(made a couple of hundred on each). Good used with cultivator sweeps usually goes for around $200.00 to $500.00. New is around $1600.00. The little push planters can be a lot of work: depends on soil conditions.
Careful planting different corn together. One year we planted majority sweet corn and 1 row colored corn. For some reason the color corn took over all the crop. It's hard to mistake color corn seed cuz its colored and sweet corn is pink with the fungicide coating. Old farmer told me the color corn will take over any other corn seed that close. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.
I’ve got one just like that, it was my dads as well. It works ok if your soil is super friable, if you don’t have a tilther or have good rich friable soil, the earth way Is pretty frustrating, I’ve ditched it in the past in favor of dragging a shallow trench and hand seeding. My market gardner friends speak highly of the jang seeders (works best on smaller seeds). Were I to spend a few hundred bucks I’d get the jang before the hoss.
Look at "THE THREE SISTERS" PLANTING SYSTEM. It is corn, climbing beens and another plant that is plant in the same area.

Hey buddy good video like it buddy
I’m gonna order me one tonight
My understanding is a nitrogen fixing plant has to die before the nitrogen becomes available . I'm curious to follow your experiment. Excellent video!
Hi josh!
Hi! I know this is an older video, but do you remember how the garden did when you used both the black eyed peas and corn mixed together?? I’m interested in doing this in a large 48x120 space that we had livestock in.

didn't work very good in my opinion. Plant your corn in a space and plant your peas in a space. It was a good experiment but our soil is so poor here that it didn't work very well

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer thank you for letting me know!!
Ok farmer... a day is never over because the next day was started last week in planning and fixing, preparing, purchasing and other chores for the big day on planting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That's right a new water source as cattle need a lot of H2O...2 to 3 times a day to drink and shade in the mid day if hot!!!!!!!!!! Corn needs about 45 days to 60 days to grow the beans needs...I forget to grow depending on the species of!!!!!! Do not forget to add the sprinkler system in... also with the pump up the hill from the home area!!!!!!!!! Wow a lot of work!!!!!!!!!!!!
An apology. From one of your recent videos on building a garden I got the impression that you needed guidance. You do not need guidance, from me at least. Active gardeners often have differing approaches to different aspects, usually depending upon the amount of space they have to work with and their end goals for the produce. I fully watched your videos this morning and enjoyed seeing your approach to things. 😎

All good my friend 😊
I can have no deer all year long until I put in some kind of corn! Then things start becoming a problem. Why haven't I learned to stop planting corn?
It’s a hot one here in Knoxville. Do you plans corn rows staggered over time. Like two rows this week and two rows next week, etc?
Wooooo!
If you really want a good seeder that will last for years look into Hoss Tools garden seeder their wheel hoes are also unbeatable and so versatile
Way to go with the sow
If you try the Ambrosia corn at Southern States you won't mess with that silver queen again
Very Cool Sir !! Yes NO TILL is the Best way to go !! And can be the Cheapest way to Garden as well... Hope more people will get into this way of Gardening So I Thank You Sir for Spreading the WORD No Till !! Thanks so much !!
Hi

Willis Jeep please
How about putting 10.10.10 fertilizer with the corn seed when planting? Would it work?
I can't find the fencing video of your garden. Did you use the metal fence like for the rest of your property?
New Kubota? Got a good deal from that advertisement you did? Did you try the John Deere X835M?

Just replied to your other comments....my question for you....Why are you hating on me? And yes we test drove the Gator...the JD dealer wouldn't let me film. I'm not happy with my gator...we needed a 4 seater...so we bought it...once again..flattered that you think Kubota would sponsor me....believe me we'd have a big orange cab tractor if that was the case!
How far apart did you plant the rows between the beans and the corn and peas!
Peas may choke out the corn. Vines will wrap around the center

Peas and beans have been companion planted with corn for years with a lot of success. Corn s talks are great poles.
did you plant the corn in the same row as the blackeye peas?

Did it work? Planting corn with peas?
@StoneyRidgeFarmer

in my opinion...nope
Wooo
I thank you have the wrong pea plate.
Would this work for other seeds? Say cucumber, squash, pumpkin?
I have one of these seeders but it doesn't work because because there are too many old grass clumps in the soil, I don't know how to get rid of the grass clumps.
Where did you buy corn 🌽 seeds
Did you ofically buy the Kubota?
Get the newer corn plate that is sized better if you’d like.
Does that place the seeds at the final spacing of the plants, or do you have to thin them later? I've never understood why the directions say to plant so close, then thin later. A waste of seed, and extra work.
