    Don't forget the "Henry 565 FloorPro Self-Leveling underlayment in the 40lb bag. It's a powder you add water to. Just mix and pour it into the low spots on the floor and it levels off by itself. And it hardens so, you can cover it with linoleum or anything else.

Just wanted to say that I'm actually buying a mobile home to live with my wife and kids, not flipping or anything, but I've found helpful information in every single video I've watched - even the ones mostly concerning the investment side. This video is particularly helpful. Thanks a lot!

    If you are fixing a hole in ceiling that u trim what do you put over the whole

  • @MobileHomeFormula

    @MobileHomeFormula

    Hi Maudea! Thank you so much for reaching out and connecting. If you are patching a small hole in the ceiling that perhaps a spackle or wall compound could work. However this of course does depend on the material that your ceiling is made of. You may also remove and replace the entire panel of ceiling where the hole is located. However if you are looking to simply cover up the whole then this would be more of a decorative-type of fix. That is because if you put something over the whole it will most likely be very visible to anyone walking in the home. There is just one hole in the ceiling than James was mentioning covering the hole with a thin square section of underlayment type of board a few millimeters thick to cover the hole. Around the edges of the square underlayment for you can place a border or trim that looks decorative. Almost like a picture frame on the ceiling. I hope this comment helps and makes sense. When in doubt, you can always hire skilled mobile home experienced repair man to help fix the ceiling. Any additional follow-up questions never hesitate to reach out any time. Hope this helps and points you in the right direction. All the best.

    The random holes and just putting a strip of something randomly would not look good and does not explain how to actually fix a hole. Unless you consider shoddy work okay. I'm not saying it has to be perfect, they're old trailers, but a wall should look smooth and not with random pieces of wood all over where there are holes. Which are apparently very common with these cheap walls.

    Hi Angela! Thank you for reaching out and connecting. In this video I absolutely should have included examples of all of the repairs James is mentioning. You're definitely right that a wall that looks lumpy or covered with patches will not look good on most homes. However there are certainly ways to make this nice. That is what we all want for our end-buyers, is a safe place to live where they can continue making us payments for many many months to come. Thanks for watching and commenting along. Any follow-up questions that you have never hesitate to reach out anytime.

    When the whole place is clean painted fresh and ready to move in those types of things blend in and are not noticed like something that sticks out such as a piece of board covering a hole on a wall and the wall is beige and the board is white. Not gonna look good however if it’s all colored the same and it’s in a place where a sofa can go or some other pice of furniture (not always necessary) it’s not a deal breaker for the buyer a lot of times remember these are older mobile homes worth not too much money but is a home for someone who will compromise so long as the place is nice, clean and feels safe.

    How can you add insulation to existing walls & ceilings on a budget?

  • @MobileHomeFormula

    @MobileHomeFormula

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Co-parenting in CA. Great question. This will be a great topic for a new and upcoming video. Thank you for the idea. In my experience most mobile homes need to seal up all of the air gaps and air leaks in the mobile home first. Around windows, floors, around floors, around light fixtures, around light switches, ceiling perimeter. They can be important to seal up all of these gaps and holes. Adding existing insulation to walls will not be a cheap process. However you can rent insulation blowing machines or companies come out to help insulate your ceiling and walls without making too many holes. Adding an additional layer of quarter-inch drywall to the top of the existing drywall will insulate the home some as well. More ideas in the coming video. Keep in touch moving forward. Hope this was helpful some. Any follow-up questions never hesitate to reach out anytime.

    @@MobileHomeFormula thanks for your response. Yes, air gaps are a huge issue & I need to work on them. No one nearby (greater Sacramento area) is willing to blow in mine because they can't guarantee it. I did build out walls & ceiling of my kitchen & dining room & it was NOT cheap! I had the panels ripped out first, added 1x2 studs on to existing studs, insulated, & put up drywall. Now I need to to do the remaining 65% of house with less $. I would love to add 2x4 on the inside again, but w/o removing panels this time, insulate, & drywall. One room a time :) If I decide to sell, I'll likely add air barrier, & drywall only. I may just add an air barrier & seal gaps first & see if that makes much of a difference. Then focus on insulating ceilings more. Sigh! ;)

  • @MobileHomeFormula

    @MobileHomeFormula

    Hi Mary, Thanks for reaching out and connecting. I regret to hear about the roof damage. I hope everyone is okay. I'm not sure how many linear feet of the edge of your roof is damage. Additionally, I'm not sure of what material will need to be exactly replace. If it is just the railing or flashing that goes around the very edge/lip of the mobile home roof in the should not be much to replace. If someone does a very good job estimate that material and labor should cost roughly 5 dollars-$10 per linear foot of material needing to be replaced. I hope that this helps and makes sense. If you have any follow-up questions never hesitate to reach out any time. All the best.

    You are one crazy canuck! Is this true? Normally I would say thanks for commenting however I do not think that is very good advice. I will keep your comment up because it is ridiculous and a good example to folks that they should not believe everything they read. Or perhaps it really does work...
