Hall, Akins, and Sissoko didn't show up. Mady is always good for a couple moving screens a game, or randomly moving from a good defensive position to being out of position to give up a layup; making the same mistakes every year. If Cooper learns to use his muscle inside and make a free throw, he plays pretty smart. Izzo didn't really do much as a game coach. MSU should have been discipline enough to pound the ball inside and draw fouls. Still, just one game and Fears and Carr look good.

I’m back another season to point out once again one of the most obvious facts about MSU basketball. Tom Izzo is absolutely a media darling, great advocate for MSU, and a well liked person across all of sports. BUT he is thee most overrated coach of all time in college sports. Like many other blue bloods, he has multiple #1 recruiting classes, top 5 classes, and top 10 classes yet he’s the only coach with those accomplishments and just 1 National Championship to show for it - which now is over 20+ year’s ago. He’s Iowa football’s Kirk Ferentz to MSU Basketball. Too revered to let go but clearly not going to get you where the program wants to go.

Msu is one my top two programs,& as much as I hate to say this...when MSU has "Super high" preseason expectations they usually underperform. That being said, college hoops has a top 25 in name only. Truth is, there's so much parity in the sport that the rankings constantly interchange. NO EXCUSES; Sparty should NOT lose to JMU at home, or elsewhere, but let's be honest....there's gonna be a A TON of unranked teams from p5 to mid major to low major that will do just what the Dukes did last night. Finally....say what you want about Izzo, but he gives the one thing that all fanbases crave....LEGIT HOPE. In any given year, MSU will make the Final 4. That's happened under his watch several times. You DON'T "LET GO" of sustained success. Not Tom Izzo...not Kirk Ferentz.

@lytelime I’m no MSU fan but you’re wrong on their recruiting classes. 2023 is only the 2nd top 10 class they’ve had since 2010, with the other being in 2016. This is an ugly loss, not contesting that at all, but MSU is a tough team and Izzo is a solid coach. They’ll be fine

In Tom Izzo and MSU's defense... I watched this entire game. It was abundantly clear that they decided to lose on purpose. They're not actually this bad. Preseason #4 to unranked and .500 in a month ? No. They're choosing to be dirt on purpose. Tom Izzo is pulling the Mark Dantonio. Mark also decided for whatever reason to be pathetic in his last few seasons. It's a Michigan State thing I guess.

I barley watch basketball except when zion played. But Michigan state is the most overrated team in my lifetime.
