Lyrics:
I played the ones you know,
I took you all the way,
but that was yesterday
I wore your favorite clothes,
I said the things you’d say,
but that was yesterday
So if you loved me so much
why’d you go?
Keep yourself back,
keep on lying? Oh..
I can only be what I am
Dive in, smiling
Life is not the same if we’re miles away
I was your champion
I did everything your way
We both swam out to sea
You lost me willingly,
but that was yesterday
You knew it would get dark,
you made sure I would need you in every way
So if you loved me so much,
why’d you go?
Keep yourself back,
keep on lying? oh..
I can only be what I am
Dive in, smiling
Life is not the same if we’re miles away
I was your champion,
I did everything your way
Life is not the same if we’re miles away
I was your champion,
I did everything to help you stay

James Blake... the very first song my friend played for me on his awesome audio setup was your song The Wilhelm Scream. I come back and listen to your music. He committed suicide 3 weeks ago and his viewing/memorial is tomorrow. So fitting that you just uploaded a song by this name. I'm going to try my best to hold it together and tonight will listen to your music for him.

Ever since i heard Joji's production for the first time in Chloe Burbank, there was always this thought in the back of my mind that him and James would make a killer musical duo. Who could've guessed a pipe dream like that at the time would somehow translate to reality so many years later.

1:41 - James uses the same vocal sample from 'If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead'. So perfectly executed, placed, and well recycled. I love the attention to detail. None of it is 'for show'. It's reflective. Self-referential. Meta. Open. Bare. This is an artist with considerable measure. The very same man who inspired me to learn music production. Well done Mr Litherland. Excellent use of space and movement. Excellent mixdown. Left footed, euphoric, and confrontational 🧙♂️ I loved every second of it.

james literally doesn't have a bad song
I miss my friend. He was like a brother to me. He did everything he could to get closer to me even when I pushed him away. Unconditional love respect and understanding. I will never find a friend and soulmate like this ever again. Losing him is part of life. And to honour him I get up every morning. Its still hard 3 years after. This wasnt just a friend I think you all understand what I mean. This was a part of me that passed. I have to find new ways to reinvent myself and define who I can be and who I am now. I often feel naked and fragile and exposed. I lost my shield and armor and I dont know if I ever will get a feeling like that back so I try to start a life where I dont need it. I need it but I tell myself I dont. I try to cope I really try. I wish he knew how much he meant to me then and now. Not religious but if I am lucky I will meet him again. And I wish so much to see him just one last time to hug him one last time. I miss him every day. Hug the people you love when you can
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever felt in my life

Beautiful song!! I heard it on a local radio station. To me it speaks of codependency, of abandonning yourself to try to be loved by someone else, and just loosing them in the end. Their is a lot of grief in the end.
