    I know he has a much better lineup now (2019). He's a kind humble guy and I think it's hard for him to show anyone the door. Glad to see him performing and doing well. Lots and lots of fans worldwide he deservedly has.

    I'm very glad,cause Jake still plays his original studio version's solo which he recorded about 40 years ago. He is truely a talented musician and guitarist.

    Jake E Lee not at the top of his game here, but still sounds pretty damn good. Everyone complaining should reflect on the fact that this guy went MIA for decades. So we should be thankful that he's back out playing at least.

    +rstabler1 I totally feel ya. I SAW Jake back in the 80s when Oz was on the B.A.T. Moon concert tour. I had the cassette. haha I learned to play some of the riffs. IMO, Jake was seriously bad ass and I LOVE how he didn't at all try to copy Randy. I kind of feel sorry for him because Badlands was good but.... you know? And the fact he got reamed by Sharon on the album and made him sign a contract AFTER he had recorded it all saying he got no $ for album sales.... wow. Just low. My respect for Oz and Sharon is nil for that and how many other deals did they do? I hear she had parts recut for the Randy albums too just to remove the drummer and keyboardist from them. Anyway... poor Jake. He just doesn't look healthy to me.

    He's a better singer than Ozzy. If you see a live video of Ozzy and he actually sounds good, it means Ozzy went back and over dubbed new vocals in the studio. The only exception to this would be old Black Sabbath...Ozzy stayed in key better back then.

    I've been playing and teaching guitar for years. the note choices and innovations Jake came up with are on par with Van Halen or Hendrix. Randy did some great stuff, that's for sure. but his style was so heavily influenced with the classical melodies it made things to neat and predictable at times. the fact that(like Eddie) Jake studied piano at and early age made him think differently about his note choices. the fact is Zack can play the shit out of Randys stuff. but he doesn't come very close to what Jake did. to bad we didn't get another album with Jake in his prime

    Everyone keep in mind he hadn't played this song in nearly thirty years (I met him shortly before his comeback effort, and he hadn't played much of anything for most of that time), and never thought he would play this particular song again... until it was demanded of him on this tour, so he had to re-learn it. I can relate to his fingers not being quite as flexible as they were at one time, and especially on the outro solo which he admitted is still quite difficult for him. But I don't think he needs the excuses anyway. He played great.... but yes, he needs a good tech.

    Oddly, it is more difficult to sing Ozzy than Badlands. Ozzy's voice is in a weird register and is really unique. Unless you get an Ozzy impersinator its hard to cover ozzy songs because you are so used to ozzy's voice. He sounds pretty good on the badlands stuff and their originals.

    Sounds a hell of a lot better than that awful phone video aimed at Jake's speaker. People were saying he lost it, was drunk, when it was just a bad, distorted, cheap mic red lined from his speaker. The comments really angered me due to that lack if insight, it was so obvious. Glad Jake is has some higher caliber recordings coming out. No doubt one the best metal guitarist of all time.

  • @teuf9180
    @teuf91809 жыл бұрын

    Understand this, Jake did write the song, so he plays it properly. This is not to take anything away from Zakk Wylde. Honestly, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Zakk is talented in the way he plays, but I feel his abundance of harmonic squeals becomes a novelty. The phrasing in his solos sound great, but there is not an abundance of variety in them. Harmonics and squeals should be more accent and not the bones of a solo when it's fleshed out. But a ton of the commentors here don't actually play, so the words get lost on them. Lets just agree to disagree, Jake is great for his music, Zakk is great with his songs.

  • @rickgoodwin2892

    @rickgoodwin2892

    9 жыл бұрын

    Yeah... Sharon and Ozzy really put the screws to Jake after he put the guitar work down for the album. He was too trusting to get the contract before putting out his ideas. And you're right.. harmonic squeals are nice once in a while but Zack really over uses them... too bad thoigh.. he really doesn't need to because he's actually a great player and under plays his solos in Ozzy tunes.

David told us that when he was born, his family held his bris at Benihana. (Ba-dump-bump!) O.K., kidding aside, would I be out of place here if I said that Jake could play with tem broken fingers and STILL outplay Zakk Wylde any day of the week? I'd hope not! (Love ya, Jake! People complaining, understand this is a shitty recording , the camera is recording the sound thru the air out by the audience , no direct mix off the PA ...so yeah, it's gonna sound thin, muddy and noisy . Even with a good mix from a board into the cam , a live recording is VERY difficult to sound like the album . If you don't play, or record, you're unaware of how much production goes into what you hear on a album , the instruments have precise mic placement on them, with isolation from room noise and ambient noise ...ambient reverberence from the room is sometimes let in (in a very controlled manner, and phase aligned) . A good band can sound very good live if 1: you're actually there 2: they have a good sound guy 3: a good PA system 4: a decent room . 5,6,7,8, ... If you've played out, then you know, some gigs/rooms just swallow up and muddy your sound . -----Just appreciate the opportunity to see Jake E . I'd rather see Jake E in a shitty room with bad sound and howard stern on vocals than see Zakk do pinch squealers and the same ole lifeless muff pentatonics recorded perfect . . .

    If that is chris boderwick, which its not, but if it was then he should have gotten on guitar instead of Jake. Then the guitar on this version of bark at the moon would have sound so much better lol

    Ive heard this drummer before in video clips here on KZread and he's good. Im quite sure it's because it was recorded by phone. Unfortunatly there are few clips here on KZread where RDC sounds good, but those clips that have great sound everyone can here that these guys can play and sing. In this clip you hear mostly Jake E Lee's guitar and the singer, but where´s the drummer or the bass player? Somewhere in the background, faaaaaar away...... :-/ :-/ #JakeELee #guitar #guitarist #guitarhero

    I’d like to see Jake, in his prime - he’s still outstanding here though - with Brucie Dickinson in his prime from Iron Maiden. I guess that Jake played with Dio at one time. I saw Dio during the “Holy Diver” tour with Vivian Campbell I believe. But Jake on guitar, Brucie on vocals, maybe Geddy Lee on bass, and Neil Peart on percussion. There’s a lineup right there. Oh, and Geddy sings backup vocals and maybe some lead. I’m thinking about keyboards still.
