Born in Madrid in 1974, Jaime Hayon
trained in industrial design. Oscillating between
furniture, objects, tapestries and carousels, he
creates a narrative universe uniquely his own,
drawing upon his deep-rooted connection to art in all
aspects of his life. His work reflects his perspective
on the world, a playful yet insightful exploration of the
human psyche expressed through his zoomorphic,
colourful, and folkloric pieces. He began producing
his significant body of work some twenty years ago
and has constantly developed his aesthetic across
various disciplines, including design, sculpture,
and painting. Like a 21st-century archaeologist,
he examines and excavates recurrent themes of
diversity, metamorphosis, and hybridization to
create a unique visual language that is accessible,
intriguing, and instantly identifiable as Hayon. Jaime
re sides in Valencia, and has offices in Barcelona
and Treviso. His work has appeared in the most
prestigious art and design publications worldwide.
He has won numerous awards, including the Spanish
National Design Award and multiple Elle Decoration
International Design Awards. He was recognized by
Wallpaper Magazine as one of the most influential
creators of the last decade, and lauded as a
“visionary” and one of the most creative icons
by Time magazine.
