Jaguar F-Type 2.0L P300 Review | Why would anyone buy this?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I review a Jaguar F-Type P300 which sports a 2.0l inline 4 engine opposed to the V6 and V8 offerings. I find out why the owner bought this car and why would Jaguar even make a frugal engine choice in such a premium car.

I've got an My19 2.0 coupe in the Caldera red. I love it. Very rare here in Australia. Future collectable. More comfy ride than a boxter, I can stretch out my legs all the way at 5'11" and plenty of punch with 400nm torque at just 1500 rpm. Best handling f-type you can buy and brakes are outstanding. Had it almost 3 yrs and only problem was a defect in one headlight and moisture. Replaced under warranty. Turns heads too everytime 👍

This car is very much a niche but no doubt it appeals to a certain clientele who are after the drive and looks of a modern British sports car without needing all the extra performance! Glad you enjoyed the video and glad your wife is very happy with her convertible!

Who gives a toss if its a 4-pot as long as it goes down the road well. There's all kinds of compromises in today's motoring including lack of steering feel, visibility and weight. Just enjoy what's on offer. I wish I could afford one. Hope that the business goes well!

The V6 is an amazing engine. For the first time in my life, I think the 6 pot is a better choice than the 8 pot in a vehicle. It sounds amazing and packs enough punch. There's not enough great sounding V6s out there compared to V8s. The brakes felt very disconnected and you had to anticipate when to slow down in it well ahead of time

That's not a bad shout but the GR86 are quite slow for a 2.0l.4 cyl and the retail price is much less than a F Type but nonetheless they are sort of the same category so that's a very good shout!

@@CarNitty very different, but very smiliar. A lot less grunt with the Toyobaru lacking a turbo, but more of a hardcore "driving feel" car for trackdays, autocross or such. Very good review of the F-type from you, and a very likeable car indeed.

  • @CarNitty

I agree with the track day element. The GR86 will no doubt feel lighter and more dynamic but I don't see anything else these two have in common apart from displacement, RWD element and the fact they're sports cars. Crazy how different they are beyond those traits

You can't really blame the person buying it, there's clearly a demand so it's the manufacturer that's agreeing to do it for profits. It's a way for jaguar to make the car more affordable and accessible which result in more sales
