This All-New 2021 Jaguar F-Type is a 4-Cylinder! Is it worth it?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This Jaguar is really cool and I especially love the convertible top. Even though it's only a 4 cylinder. It is available in a v6 and v8 for all the people who didn't listen to me defend it in the engine section.

This is probably the best review to cover the ftype’s interior so far. The others go over it quickly and focus on driving it and how it feels, which is great, but I’ve always wanted to know more details about the interior, thanks to you I have. Great review, def gonna try and get this car.

Love Jaguars. I’m no car enthusiast expert, but I think ppl prefer v8’s cause it’s the more classic choice and a naturally aspirated v8 will last longer than a turbo charged v6. A turbo charger will have more complicated tunings and workings in it and that could lead to more problems down the road and they would be more harder to fix. But yea. Another great review issac👍🏽

The 2.0 gives the best bang for buck when money is an object and is a great handling car. You lose the crazy loud roar and a bit of speed on the higher end, but it still isn't that bad. I went 2.0 and don't regret it, as the fuel and servicing costs are better too. If you are a high roller and the $$$ doesn't matter at all, then sure go up to V6 or V8. It's a great car no matter what.

My last three cars were a 2015 Mustang EB, 2018 BMW 230i, and currently a 2021 F-Type P300. On a youth pastor's budget, I think you'd love the Mustang. I'm a coupe guy, but I've driven the convertible and both are awesome. Aside from the turbo lag (which I may never get over!) you can tell I've been sold on small-displacement turbo engines. I really commend Ford for the engineering they put into their EcoBoost motor- it sounds terrible, but it makes impressive power and is very fun to drive. If you enjoyed driving the F-Type (and it looks like you did!) you'll probably like the Mustang too. Gearheads will say they can't be compared, but in reality the Mustang will do a lot of what the F-Type does, just a little rougher. The F-Type is small but heavy for its size- the Mustang is bigger and heavier still. The Ingenium engine gives nice performance all around but is happiest at high revs- the EcoBoost engine even more so. The Jaguar version of the ZF 8-speed is quicker, but Ford's 10-speed is no slouch. The biggest difference you'll find is in the handling- while the Mustang is surprisingly responsive and good at holding a line, the F-Type is just sharper and sticker in every way. The F-Type feels like a leather-wrapped go-kart, or a grown-up Miata- the Ford still feels like a big American pony car. But both are tail-happy and very easy to get the tail out (insert Mustang crowd-killer joke here). This was a nice review, and it was fun to see your honest enthusiasm and enjoyment without getting bogged down in the usual car reviewer elitism or the same specs being rehashed again. Well done!

Thank you! Yeahhhh maybe a Mustang someday! I just drove a Jeep Wrangler 2 Door recently and I really loved it in manual. I think ideally if I could have the budget garage, I'd keep my Tacoma, then buy an older Wrangler JK and maybe a little sporty coupe convertible in manual. But that's just a dream, if God blesses me with that, Awesome! But if not, this job reviewing cars already is the biggest blessing I ever could've asked for. I pride myself in not being prideful when I review haha, I try to make it fun and laid back!

Think it might be interesting to see out the windshield when your taking it for a drive. Other wise we're sort of just watching your face. I kind of wanted to see what the visibility was like looking out at the street. See how high the car is relative to others etc.

Just took delivery of my P300 last month. Visibility is, well, limited. With a car this shape with those hefty C-pillars, you of course expect mediocre visibility to the back and sides. This is impaired further by the rather small rear window, and impaired further still when the rear decklid spoiler raises at speed, cutting off the bottom 20% or so of the already-meager rear view. To answer your question directly, what's surprising is that the front visibility is less than ideal as well. Because of the very low roofline, high door sills, and extremely raked windshield, it feels at times like you're looking through the slit of a helmet, and it doesn't help that you have a football-field-sized hood out in front of you. The seating position is very low, and you are always reminded that other cars are quite a bit taller than you. But none of this makes the car undriveable, and it's the price you pay to drive a car this beautiful. There's no practical way to build this shape in this style without compromises in visibility. You quickly get used to craning your neck a little extra to see out front or around a corner, you rely on the backup camera and parking sensors a bit more than usual, maybe you install those little fisheye blind spot mirrors, and you learn where the corners of your car are. So yes, visibility in the F-Type is not good. But it's an easy limitation to adapt to, and for an attentive driver it doesn't make the car any less useful or fun to drive.

The new one gets rid of that nearly cross-eyed robotic look of the previous model. Instead it is sleeker, more aggressive-looking, and a touch more both reptilian and feline in a sculpted face. Rolling art, front to end.

This turbo trend is annoying. Turbos break everything. They should use other methods. Theres plenty outthere rather then a turbo. Turbo engines are not has reliable then non-turbos. I rather have a v6 then a 4 turbo. The v6 will last much longer. Also won't cost thousands replacing a turbo. But things are made to break. Thats why every car maker started using turbos. Engines break down faster. Needing more repairs, hence, swapping cars way more often rather then keeping the same one for 10/15 years. 400k to 500k miles was the norm 20 years ago. Now, 200k and you should seriously look into changing before hitting 210k. By 70k you'll be changing that turbo. At 210k its an engine if your lucky.
