    Always enjoy Jacques. An unpretentious gifted man. I would like to know whereabouts in the USA this is...CA...? He grows tomatoes outdoors for inst. so take it the garden is in a warm/ hot climate? PS...Just found out it is in Connecticut !

    His is very nice! An easy alternative is to use a stock tank: add a straw bale or chunks of wood to use up some volume (doesn't have to be FULL of only soil)!

    What’s interesting about this garden is that it really does look like someone’s backyard garden, as opposed to one that is made for TV and maintained by a professional gardener. You can even see some weeds.

    Jacques, you are my hero in that I’ve watched you for years and years and always find comfort in watching you cook, listening to you speak and instruct.     It looks like this mess of overgrown unattended weeds to the untrained eye. Then you find out that it is basically everything that makes a meal taste wonderful. It has to be glorious to have the entire produce section of a small grocery market growing just outside your door..

    I’m in tears because it reminds me so much of my father and I’ve said this before but his garden was everything to him besides his model ships. This brings me back and it makes me so happy Jacques ❣️I miss my garden. Always made me so happy to get up in the morning and pick my squash flowers and look at what else could be picked. It’s a feeling you can’t explain... the feeling of joy 🙋🏻‍♀️👨🏻‍🍳

    I can't believe that Jacques lives by such a busy road! I thought he would be in a quiet, rural setting. Apparently Jacques doesn't sweat the small stuff. His mind is on higher matters. That noise would drive me over the edge!

    I’m pretty sure he lives in CT. Having lived there for a year myself there really aren’t many of any actually quiet areas anymore, unfortunately.

    ​@@adampilarski7083 That's interesting. I come from here, and after twenty years away, have lived here again for a long time. It's always quiet where I live, and in most of the state. outside of the little cities. The state is basically quite rural, and very heavily wooded.

    @@13loomisst I think the statement “I come from here” is what makes the difference. I’ve lived in some of the most rural parts of our country so even the “rural” parts of CT are very populated to me. That’s the thing: so much of this kind of thing depends on what you’re used to.

The statement "I come from here" was designed to suggest that I may know a little more about the little state than you do. As I said, I've lived elsewhere: in Big Sky country, the Deep South, the Midwest, et al. To cut to the real chase, saying that there aren't any quiet areas here is simply misguided. Cheers.

    It is so nice if you are fortunate enough to grow fresh herbs. They make a huge difference in recipies. Freshest possible ingredients is the way to go if you can! Great to see Jacques maintain a nice garden like this - of course he would! He is Jacques Pépin! Love him.

    That is an awesome garden! Keeping herbs fresh once cut is so difficult. Here, you just grow them - if they are growing they are fresh!! And always available - so beautiful!!

    Just the past year I got some Italian oregano from the nursery, stuck in a pot! Oh la la! What a difference! Even the frozen pizza gets a divine touch from fresh oregano. Just a pot in my patio! Basil is so easy to grow...
