We have used the kzread.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

For anyone interested, I picked mine up for CPAP use when camping and using my ResMed S11, I can run 8 hours and it uses about 45 to 55% of the 1000w. So with two solar panels you can get it charged back up to 80% for the next night's use. We just returned from a 5 night camping trip where it rained a little everyday and it leaves you enough safety buffer to where you won't run out of power mid night sleep. too many cloudy days and you might want to bump up to the 1500 or 2000 if you can afford it. Just my 2 cents

@@Spunky.Streams I'm sure it would. but at that point it might be more cost effective to again step up to the bigger unit's. I haven't done the math on that. What would be real nice, would be to have the ability to add more solar panels. Which isn't possible, as far as I know, unless you were to splice some wires and make your own connection. I'm not smart enough to know what pitfalls that might bring up so I'll stay on the safe side of things and let these product engineers take on that legal responsibility. Either way, yes, more battery power is always better.

What a great review!! We purchased this to do dry camping as well, instead of investing in a permanent unit on our trailer. We have a 12v cooler that we bring with us on longer trips so we use this when we are visiting places. Its great if you have a drone as well for remote charging. We have 2 of the 100w solar panels so this charges decently fast. The size and portability of this unit is excellent as well, not to bulky. Thanks for this review,,, very well done!

Excellent review! I'll check out the deals on Jackery Day. Probably the smaller models could also meet my needs. I'm sold on the build quality of Jackery. Hopefully they have good deals. If not I can wait long as I have to. In the meantime, I have a Sportsman 1000 inverter generator that works just fine and it only cost $175 new. Weighs 19lbs so with a full gas tank about the same weight as a Jackery 1000. I can use it later for cloudy day Jackery recharging. I already have an 80 watt solar panel.

I’m a fanboy as well. I have the J1000 and J500 with the Jackery storage/carry bags along with two Saga 100s. I use for blackouts and camping. Works great with my Dometic fridge/freezer.

We moved recently to Florida from upstate New York and I knew that I wanted to have something available just in case of a power outage especially during hurricane season where to come up. Since we’ve moved into our new place we’ve been using this almost a daily basis to power LED lights to charge her cell phones to charge her laptops between driving around in the car and charging it and just sitting the solar panels which we have two of outside we really haven’t had a need to use a lot of electricity in the apartment so far. This has been our experience for the past two weeks. Love this device

Loved your "down to earth" review of the Jackery 1000. I'm currently looking seriously at buying that same exact unit. Yes, now there are other brand options BUT I'm not big on using my phone for controlling most of those other products. I also like that the Jackery has a USA based product support/customer service with real people to address any issues or questions. I have very small needs for most of my energy consumption (aside from rainy day cooking needs) so that model is a perfect blend of NOW and FUTURE needs later. Thanks for reaffirming my initial thoughts about its suitability for coffee, electric blanket, tiny mini heater or mini fan, and phones, tablets, DSLR camera, USB mini string lights. I do weekend Van camping for sightseeing adventures as my free time relaxation along with amateur landscape/wildlife photography. That unit should be perfect g or that!

I agree, the way things are going with extreme weather causing outages, this is going to be very useful in the future. I would like to buy this for my home so I don't think that I would need the solar panels but here in the caribbean, the sun shines all day.

Yes, get the panels! I am researching hackers and how to use it. I want to use the solar aspect. As an old hippie, I NEED to get power from the sun before I die. I think the 1000 model is light enough for me to carry outside with the panels and use every day. After I get this, and I am going to, I will probably buy a second one and keep charging every day. I live in New Mexico where the sun shines 300 days a year. Eek! It's going to serve several purposes. I will use it daily just to leave a smaller footprint. I just need to understand the terminology.

I was under my fake-down comforter and sleeping bag and not cold. But I don't want to lay under blankets all evening before bed if I want to take longer trips. It's a fun process anyway to see what works!

I purchased the 1000 about 2 months ago. All I purchased was the power station and received the parallel solar panel connector. One last thing, they are an American company but it's manufactured in China. Good review.

Thanks for the great review, my friend. A lot of good info. One thing that maybe I skipped here is the ability continues using the generator at same time the solar panels are recharging. Is it possible to do or is it necessary to unplug all devices from the generator to recharge the batteries?

The battery terminals are more for a RV rechargeable batteries. Lead. AGM or Lithium. The battery is to store your solar energy. More RV set up than tent camping. Most RV have controllers and invertors built in.

@@mariedykeman5208 Thanks Marie. The Amazon listing for these cables does say they're specifically meant for charging (and not jumping...my initial mis-read) Lead acid automtive batteries. They even have a picture showing someone using the Explorer 500 with these cables to recharge a truck battery. So it seems that Jackery is promoting them more for that kind of use (accidental discharge of your car battery....or emergency recharge in general if, say, you had a failed alternator). That's my takeaway, anyway. :)

This is a genuinely good review. Thank you. I'm quite impressed with this unit and I plan to buy one. I need to replace a unit I had to leave back in the US when I moved back to UK. The one I had could never do this. It didn't stand a chance at running a low wattage kettle, so doing any of these test would have been wishful thinking.

Thanks for the kind words, Louis. If you DO stick with Jackery, definitely get the updated 'Pro' model since they have much better DC input specs and can be charged much faster as a result.

I have almost every brand of the best portable power stations in the market and Jackery is I guess my favorite one. You can't go wrong with Jackery and the 1000 is super versatile and reliable. Not mentioning Jackery's customer service that is First Class!!!

Great review check up on the charging times with two panels if you intend to buy another one as a watched a KZread guy who connected two and it limits the input to 120W so you only gain 20W with two panels. The benefit you get is if it's a bit cloudy you will still get about 100W that's the advantage of two panels not halving the time just something to think about I guess.

Yeah you're not wrong about the limited benefit of 2 panels. I think the Jackery guys told me that actual input limit is something like 160w. However, I also think that when you combine 2 panels that have a noticeable difference in output (individually), the less efficient panel can drag down the output of the more efficient panel (I know this can happen with some systems, just not 100% certain if it applies here...but i suspect so). So the end result in my setup is that the sum input of both panels ends up being a bit lower than what you'd assume. I'd guess with 2 SolarSaga panels, I'd get a lot closer to that 160w number.

Great review, the design and build reminds me of The Mighty Vaporizer by (Storz & Bickel).

The largest is indeed "EXPLORER 2000" the built in LED light features an SOS setting! I prefer the wisdim of dual Solar Panels! Four Panels for the largest, 2000!

When camping in the UK, many campsite offer pitches without electrical supply and pitches with electric but at a higher cost. So you can actually get some return from the initial cost of a power bank by using non-electric pitches.

A great review. I've had mine for over a year and have taken it to Mexico where it powered just about everything. I also have the Bluetti 500 wh, Aimtom 540 Wh and the Aimtom 300 wh. During a recent power outage in California (during the Heatwave), I literally didn't even notice it while my neighbors (the same one's I told to invest in one) were sitting in their cars for an hour running the AC. I highly recommend all the ones I've purchased, including the 1000. :-)

It depends on the type of AC unit. It will run a wall unit. The issue is the amount of power it takes to initially get the AC up and running. The Jackery from my review has the ability to do just that. There are other units (as long as they are more than 700 Watts) that should do it..

Great review. I have the 1000 and 2 /100 watt panels great. The new 200 watt panel is not so good. I only can get about 50-60 watts our of it. If you get the 1000 I would suggest you get the 100 watt panels and don't waste your time on the 200 watt panel

I recently purchased 30 Tesla solar panels and 3 powerwalls and independent of the electric grid for two months now ... but waiting for permission to sell my extra power to the grid at which time I will reconnect. When I was young, this Jackery Explorer portable/solar battery generator would have been perfect during power outages here in Southeast Texas. Also, this Jackery Explorer 1000 or else the Jackery 1500 (or one of the competitors per research) would be good if/when I get my future EV truck or an EV car, because I have "range anxiety" about electric vehicles.

Thanks! I feel like I have noticed that on some power stations, especially during high discharge operations (like a toaster). I suspect that it's more prominent when the batteries are new, but that we don't typically notice it unless the fans come on.

The "gift" adapter for the Anderson connection came with the purchase of my Jackery1000 beginning of July. I did not buy a solar panel right away, even it came with a nice price reduction on amazon (coupon). Later in fall I ordered only one Saga100 solar panel (also with coupon), and I honestly have to say that I am not sure if I'll buy a 2nd panel, the charging with only the one panel goes very quickly, even I charge it at home through a large window! Input displays between 1 and 8 watts on and off, but charges around 10% within less than 15 minutes. Haven't tried it yet charging with solar from almost empty, just with AC, that takes apparently longer than with the panels. I am so impressed by the 1000 that I ordered recently a 300, just for day-or-two trips with car. Purchased the 1000 also with my mind on the winter-power-outs- in my area, so I'll be most likely the only person in my condo building with lights on. Can even run my portable apartment size washer. It used only 8% while running close to 50 minutes! Tried most of my appliances out, and I think that buying the 1000 was a good idea, it is still light weight enough for carrying it around, the 1500 is too heavy and needs too many panels for efficient charging.

I have a jackery 1000 I am using it to power my Promaster van build! I can run Iceco 45pro fridge off 12vt and use 12vt to recharge jackery while driving or plug in at Campground ect I have USB recharge lights. I tried instant pot, induction cooker work fine and Jackery told me it will power 700 watt microwave for 40min? Don't have solar yet. I ❤️ mine! There is now a 1500w and work on 2000? But as u said $1 per watt.

I bought the 1000 to use at a market where I sell my crafts. I wanted it so that I could use a fan because it’s so hot here in tx. I was not happy that it was at 100% when I turned on my fan at 10am. By 2pm it was at 37%. I thought it would last much longer. I’m returning this.

How long will it power a full-size refrigerator without solar panels attached? ...and with solar panels attached? Is it possible to keep a fridge running continuously?

Do you get also the European power wall outlet plug because they differ. So is it included that you can put on the right power outlet for your country? And can you also plug in the solar panel to charge it and also use it at the same time. So let say you get 200 watt with 2 panels and using 300 watt, so at the end you discharge the battery only 100 watt. Is this true or can you only do it separately. Because you use it the most of the time during the day and then the sun is only shining. So can you both charge and use the electricity directly. Because charging your tablet can cost 2 hours and you won't lose 2 hours of sunlight. And a tablet or mobile device don't use much so then the panels could in theory direct feed you needs in power.

Cyber Monday sale on Amazon this unit and 2 x 100w panels for $1,099.00 I just bought it.

Jackery makes a 1500 and 2000 now. There is also a Jackery 880 version at Home Depot on sale for $779.

This would probably work if you have a power outage at home. The light may come in handy in total darkness. I like it.

500 watts will only get you 2 hrs. Total mAh is 243,600. It has 84 x 18650 batteries at 2900mAh each

I would love to understand the kinds of things I can do with this unit. I am not using it for camping, but daily home use. If I get a good charge, can I run my tv, a lamp, charge my phone and laptop and kindle? I will probably get a second unit and alternate charging days. With the 2nd unit, I would not need a second set of solar panels. Am I missing something? Most videos I watch only talk about using this for camping. But I also want to use it when my power goes off. Help me! ✌

No, not as long as you're driving. Just don't run your car battery down trying to charge it while your car is not running. Doing that on a regular basis could definitely shorten your car battery's life.

Pretty much any '12v' Solar panel in the 100-200W range should be fine with the Explorer 1000, provided it has a DC7909 (8mm) barrel connector option (and most do). I think ALL of the solar panels I've reviewed on the channel would work fine with the E1000. Regarding the 'accessory mode', most American made cars still have a 'hot' 12v socket, even when the car is off. However, most foreign cars do not, and you'd have to turn ignition key only to the 1st position without starting the car (or press the Start button without pressing the brake) to energize the 12v sockets. That's what I was referring to. I hope that answers your question! :)

Boy this was very helpful for me I appreciate you sharing this information. I'm 64 years old woman I live in Florida so it's always sunny but I wanted something in case the grid goes down and my AC doesn't work wondering if I don't use it for my AC because Jackery might not be able to handle it. So I was thinking how about a table 12 inch table fan running all night long to keep me cool plus my laptop and possibly a small yeti type of refrigerator. Also I was thinking if I have the solar panels in my backyard and the grid goes down let's say 30 days could I run my fan and laptop{ continuously} as long as I'm hooked up to either 100 or 200 W solar panel. Sorry for the long question but sure do you need an answer.

I think it all depends on how power-hungry your fan and laptop (fridge, etc) are. If you get a decent compressor-style 12v fridge, that shouldn't tax the PowerStation much at all. You can also get very power-efficient fans that wouldn't tax the battery too much either. Running the laptop continuously though could take the PowerStation capacity down a fair amount over the course of 8 hours. I think the biggest concern with the Jackery 1000 in that case is that even if you have 2-100W panels in full sun, the PowerStation is only going to be able to input about 160W of that at best. The Jackery 1500 can handle about double that, but at higher cost of course. I think to be sure of what you'll need, you might consider getting an inexpensive power meter (like this: amzn.to/3gN2UXI ) so you can actually measure the hourly consumption of your devices and size y our system accordingly. Keep in mind too that with the Jackery stuff, you're paying extra for that portability. If you don't need that, you could go with something less portable and get a whole lot more bang for your buck! Hope that helps!

I think the original Jackery 1000 came out a couple of years ago and then they did a slight redesign for the 1000 Explorer With only a few minor changes.

@@ReeWrayOutdoors I’ve decided to get the Jackery 1000. I understand that on March 17 Jackery will be unveiling NEW products. Should I wait until then for either new products or discounts? What do you think? Thanks

@@frankwhite4157 I'd definitely wait as they're likely to have some discount and/or bundle deals that might be worth doing (that's what I'd do, anyway!). Let us know how you make out!

I love mine too.

March 17th is Jackery Day, likely with new products and improved features and maybe reduced prices on older ones.

Nice video and I'm still thinking of getting the Explorer 1000, just wish it wasn't limited to a max of 120w input....

Ryan, do you have a link to a reference on that 120w input constraint? All I can find is that on the 1000 specs, it says the input can handle up to 30v at 8.33A, which should translate to 250watts. Just trying to understand where that 120w number is coming from....(Not saying you're wrong...)

@@ReeWrayOutdoors Sorry, I was off on the number actually. DC Input: 12V-30V (163W Max) from the tech specs page on the 1000, which that's not too bad. I used two rockpals folding panels and was pulling around 140w without adjusting them not long ago

@@RyanNiemer Good to know, Ryan. Thanks! I've just reached out to Jackery Support for an 'official' confirmation on the max input watts. I'll let you know what they are claiming. I'd really want it to be able to handle 180-190w so you could take full advantage of 2 100w panels at optimal alignment.

@@RyanNiemer So yeah, the official word is 163W as you said. I can live with that, but it's a LITTLE disappointing since, in ideal conditions, connecting 2 100W panels would net you 180-190W. Strange that it can't handle at least that! They seem to fixed these shortcomings in the E1500.

Question, it-is possible to solar-charge the unit and use the 12v outlet in same time?

Yes. No problem with that.

The one question I would have liked for you to answer.. Would you buy it again? Then add on these question. Same size? 1 or more solar panels, 3rd party solar panels? I like how you "called out" all of the free to them reviews. Its one thing to know how much that item cost but its another to shall out that $1400 for the kit and taxes. Especially when it look likes you really don't even need the solar panels or 1K watts. No matter how much money you have dropping $1 per watt for the SoGen and $3 per watt on panels that's going to make you think twice (hopefully). Now with Jackery having the 1500 and the 2K. You are correct with buying over kill verse under wattage.

Good question(s)! You're right in that I really don't need the 1000W version for the kind of car camping we did in the Arkansas National Forests. And if that were the only use-case for me, I'd probably have been fine with a 500W unit. However, I do plan on eventually doing more extended trips in the future a bit further out West, which will also likely include using a 12v fridge of some kind. And for that, I'll definitely be glad I have the 1000W. I think the solar panels are a 'nice to have' (for me) rather than a 'need to have', just because I'm not typically in 1 place for more than 12-15 hours and most of that is over-night. BUT, if I'd also want to have the unit as a power outage contingency (or if I slow down at some point and start staying in 1 place a bit longer and actually 'relaxing' haha), THEN it'd make sense to have 1 or 2 panels, or one 200w panel. And if you can save a fair amount of money going 3rd party, great. If it's only $20 or so difference because the Jackery is on sale, I'd probably still get the Jackery panel...for no other reason than it's well-made and just a bit less...fumbly...to handle than the multi-fold designs. So it really depends on how YOU'd use it. I do wish the Jackery 1000 was quicker to recharge. I know the newer 1500 and 2000 units do have a higher input watts capacity. And I also understand that some of the other brands can charge more quickly. That said, it has not been an issue for me up to now, but in the future, I'd likely take stock of the various competitor options before deciding on a bigger capacity purchase...IF I decide I need more. I hope that helps!

Thank you for a very thorough review. I am actually considering buying this devise to use in my apartment (I am from Ukraine and recently russians hit us pretty good… we have constant blackouts (not complaining lots of people have it much worse)) and I just want to have something to supply my working computer, refrigerator, heater…). Therefore, could you tell me, have you ever tried charging it through or just outside the window (I know it sounds like a blasphemy 😂 but theoretically will it be effective under direct sunlight indoors?) Thank you in advance!

The deal breaker for me on the Jackery is the length of time it takes to charge. It is really slow. This is why I've chosen the Bluetti EB70s. It charges up a lot faster. Plus the Jackery is more expensive than the Bluetti but the same quality.

The new Jackery explorer Pro 1000, can now charge from 0% to 100% in 1 1/2 hrs from wall outlet and can charge in 5 hrs in car. Depending how many solar panels you have can charge in 2 to 5 hrs

They're fine but for the money Ecoflow does more. More power, more runtime, more ports, more info (better ui) faster charging, more solar input... for the same money or less. I was looking at the Jackery 500 but that $500 price was unappealing for the features offered. Got the Ecoflow River Pro for $430 and that offers 40% longer runtime (720ah vs 500), an extra 100watt output (600 Watts, not even considering the Xboost featurewhich allows it to power up to 1800 watt devices by stepping down the voltage) double the solar input (200 watts vs 100) for faster charging, up to 600 watt ac input for a complete charge in under 100 minutes, app control as well as more information on the unit itself via a much nicer display. It even charges from 12V faster. (98 watts versus 75) Jackery doesnt even have an expansion port like the River Pro does. That nifty little feature allows it to double the capacity. In fact I couldnt find a single way Jackery was better. I wanted to get the most for my money and thanks to Ecoflow I am confident in my purchase decision. I got some Dokio 300 watt solar panels for $220 each as well. $300 for 100 watts is ridiculously overpriced. Jackery is going to have a hard time competing if they ever bother to do so.

I don't want to drain my battery, I want to charge my battery. It does say it has a pass through charge with panels so you can balance power to unit and services (plug ins). Sorry if that doesn't make sense, that you can use power while charging.

A small 200W space heater would run about 4 hours. Honestly, you can get much more bang for your buck with a non-Jackery option. Pecron E2000LFP doubles your capacity (runtime) for the same money and its a great unit. amzn.to/3NOz8l9

Do you have an bluetti reviews or is that a cheap battery station?

Not yet - and definitely take a look at Bluetti. From what I've seen, it looks like decent product. Definitely look at the DC input max for solar input on what you're considering buying and get something that can handle at least 150W+ so you can take advantage of 2 or more solar panels for faster charging.
