FOR ALL INSTRUMENTS - Episodic Playing . . . this can’t be good, right? Disconnected ideas, one thing here and another there? Well, what if you learned that most of your jazz heroes play this way a LOT? How’s about we dig in to some Trane and Tom Harrell, some Monk and some Chick and see what is going on here.

Melodic lines come naturally to me, and then building on what I just played, but getting comfortable to play over a series of chord changes takes a lot more effort. Nice to hear you playing soprano.

Great that you have a good natural sense of melody. Of course, that IS the trick, finding excellent melodies over the chord changes that are going by in a given song. We work on this 24/7 inside www.JazzWire.net. When the time is right, I'd love to dive into it all with you!
